One DSi Topic to rule them all

Someone mentioned that on dsi brew. People have recently found vulnrabilities in opera (the same brand browser dsi uses) for pc that uses hacked jpegs.

To what extent did these vulnerabilities go? Did they crash the browser? Make you go to a different page? Load the DSi Camera?

Also, will DSiBrew get a forum anytime soon?

Hmmm, AFAIK, most software exploits on Wii were only possible due to a hardware exploit (Twiizers Attack)...
Maybe something similar needs to be achieved on DSi before we think about "running code"...

They are? Why would you think that? AFAIK, Twiizers isnt even working on the DSi. Bushing and Blasty are, but AFAIK thats it.

Bushing got a DSi and he said he was waiting to do stuff until he could get a DSi flash cart, so I made an assumption.

I dont have a DSi, so I have a quick question about its operation:

I've read that the DSi only reads JPEGs signed (or created by) itself (a DSi). Is this true? And if so, could anyone upload one of these JPEGs for me to download and play around with in a hex editor?

It's true, kinda. All it does is add a static header or something like that. Look up the cameras on DSiBrew, somebody took a pic with one and posted it on the wiki. Download it, it hasn't been messed with.

Yeah, and hex editing it won't help I'm afraid. Even if you just copy it to a computer and back to a DSi, apparently the DSi won't show it. Can't confirm this myself as I don't have a DSi, but I read that at a forum. Was GBAFail though, so who knows... But I'm pretty sure if you open it in paint, and close it without even saving, it'll be unviewable on DSi
