I'll add that if you get a new Wii, you probably won't have a vulnerable boot2 for Bootmii, so you could only have some brick protection, but not full.by Kage52124 - Getting Started
I concur with Sephk...I've never seen a .map file on my SD root, I'm almost positive the only file it makes is nand.binby Kage52124 - BootMii Beta
I don't know about a tutorial, but they do have an IRC channel if you wanted to ask questions...#grrlib @ EFnet . Also you could try the discussion page on the wiki: Sorry if this isn't of much help to you...by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Quotemetroid_maniacI might add that if it says something like "boot 1 stops installation of bootmii as boot2" or something like that, than don't bother installing it as IOS. Don't install preloader either, until "Bootmii as Menu IOS" comes out. Bootmii as IOS has no function in brick protection whatsoever. Couldn't it still fix a semi-brick so long as one can still access HBC?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
I think you may have set your wii to a different region in the process of downgrading. Did you go down to 3.2U or 3.2E?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
You use either the Twilight Hack or Bannerbomb to install the Homebrew Channel.by Kage52124 - Getting Started
We'd recommend sticking with 3.2 and not 4.0 since you're on 3.1 right now. Bootmii and Preloader may look similar, but actually do two different things. If you're feeling a little overwhelmed, I would just stick to installing the Homebrew Channel and then running AnyRegion changer to update to 3.2, and lastly WiiSCU (Wii System Channel Updater) to update the channels that probby Kage52124 - Getting Started
Alrighty I will chip in later :-Pby Kage52124 - Getting Started
HBC works exactly the same regardless of how you get to it. It still uses an IOS to run after all, not MINI.by Kage52124 - BootMii Beta
there is a BOOTDELAY variable inside your bootmii.ini file, you can use that in conjunction with AUTOBOOT to go where you'd like. Either edit this file with a word processor or go here: and use this program to edit it in a GUI way.by Kage52124 - BootMii Beta
Lol "health problems" and "ps3 fanboy" in the same sentence. Makes it sound like being a PS3 fanboy is a disease :-P. I know that wasn't your intention. To avoid future updates after the Homebrew Channel is installed, run GeckoOS to avoid any superfluous updates, it will only install specific IOSes to run the game, not do a full system update. BTW 3.2 is the best firmware for running hby Kage52124 - Getting Started
Hence the "yet" :-Pby Kage52124 - Getting Started
Absolutely nothing is wrong with it, but I think it could use an update to reflect BaNNeRBoMB and the Hackmii Installer since we've been seeing quite a few people around making silly mistakes about the SD menu and other bannerbomb related 'whoops' factors.by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Video tutorials are tricky anyway from what I've heard.by Kage52124 - The Junkyard
Can't load homebrew apps with bootmii...yet...by Kage52124 - Getting Started
If you're getting a code dump error when loading JUST the Homebrew Channel, you should use bannerbomb to uninstall, then reinstall HBC. That might clear out your problem. NVM on that...but all of your homebrew is code dumping?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Your downgrade was incomplete more than likely. what'd you use to load 3.2?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Use the Hackmii installer to uninstall HBC, DVDx, and Bootmii if you have it. That'll get you basically back to square 1.by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Could we make a sticky about the Hackmii Installer with lots of bold, italicized, underlined, and colorized (don't know how to do that :-P) as an FAQ for how to get started, addressing the basics about how to run all this stuff? Or would it not be worth the hassle?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Sounds like a language major to me...by Kage52124 - Offtopic
QuoteWikiFSXQuotesurakAny good soul willing to share a NAMD file of a pal wii to test? You can only use NAND backups of your own Wii. I'm pretty sure Bushing is offering a service that actually does let you take someone else's NAND and put it on another Wii, but it's tedious manual coding labor so he was going to charge for it... Also it sounds like Arikado is on the ball heby Kage52124 - Getting Started
If you don't mind the question, what about this upgrade sounds like such a good idea?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Don't use the SD menu, go to settings -> wii channels -> sd card EDIT: Also, don't even consider downgrading at this point. I can almost guarantee you would brick your wii.by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Maybe it does stretch everything and you just haven't noticed before? Just saying it's hard to notice those kinds of things until you notice something important has been cut out. Most TV shows don't actually need the whole screen, you're good with much less, so overscanning is a normal thing...right? Or am I talking out my rear?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
Sorry Arikado, hope I didn't offend...by Kage52124 - Getting Started
No DVDx acts as a hidden channel, you won't see it unless you get something like Anytitle Deleter. Depending on your System Menu (need 3.2 to use Anytitle Deleter), you probably can't use this program to delete everything of DVDx, but at least you'd be able to see it.by Kage52124 - Getting Started
This is NOT an endorsement, but this comes from the forum that handles GeckoOS: Link Removed - Contains Unsupported Software. This may be the best guide out there, but as always you must do so with extreme caution. Also ask yourself, "Is it worth the risk of bricking my Wii? Should I install Bootmii as boot2 and do a NAND backup?" If you can't do the backup, I wouldn't recommend tryiby Kage52124 - Getting Started
it's supposed to work on 4.0, and it did for me, so I dunno what to tell you :-(. Are you using Hackmii Installer v0.2 or .1?by Kage52124 - Getting Started
I'm not 100% on this, but you could probably put it in your apps folder inside another folder there, like apps/cios/boot.dolby Kage52124 - Getting Started
Lol I'd say that Twilight Hack is a little more difficult to run, but Bannerbomb is definitely less compatible.by Kage52124 - Getting Started
