Well I found a work around for now. The only reason why I wanted to to do this via the Wii (as opposed to my PC) is because of the ideal controller that the Wii provides (i.e. the wireless Wiimote). Since my computer does not have Bluetooth support, I could not use one of the many PC programs to connect my Wiimote to the PC. So this is what I did. I connected my PC (a laptop) to my projectoby LordAshes - Ideas, requests
I've been trying to get a Linux OS running on the Wii but have not managed it. When I used the whiite installer, it creates the image on the SD card but when it comes to loading it, it just gives me a black (blank) screen. I tried Boot It with the Bliight image but it seems this does not work correctly (returning me back to the previous menu)...unless I am entering the filename incorreby LordAshes - Ideas, requests
There is a great Java based tool for roleplaying (and can also be used for intenet card game playing) called MapTools (in the RPTools suite). My Wii is hooked up to a projector and thus using MapTools via the Wii (due to the fact that you use the wireless Wiimote as a pointer) would be ideal for both roleplaying and/or card games. However, when I tried to use MapTools on the Wii using the Iby LordAshes - Ideas, requests
This is the problem...people don't read the licenses properly and then they ban software that is actually legit. The software mentioned above is actually totally legal. Actually the version of GRRLIB that the software uses (which is on purpose a olby LordAshes - Getting Started
There is a program for the Wii which allows you to use some GUI interaction with some simple programming commands to make Wii homebrew. It has gotten some bad reviews in the past because the free version is limited and unlimited version costs money. However, you can do a lot with the limited version. I have updated my Wii to System Menu 4.3. As I understand, in order to get DVD and USB functionality back, I need to use the Trucha Bug Restorer and then I will be able to install custom IOS for DVD and USB support. However when I try using the Trucha Bug Restorer, I get a -1035 error with a error message asking me if I am using a IOS36 revsion greater than 3351. Note: This post make reference to USB Loaders for the purpose of indicating the type of functionality that has been lost (i.e. illustrating the problem). This post is, in no way, asking about how to install and/or use such applications. The author supports the use of these type of programs only for legitimate uses (i.e. backing up original disk to USB so that the original disks can be kept safe).by LordAshes - The Junkyard
I tried the cast on usage and I could not get it to work. However, I tried the Union idea and it works great. It still means that I need to have a pointer to each structure in the union definition but that should be managable. Then, depending on which structure is needed, the correct structure pointer is initialized and used. Thanks.by LordAshes - Offtopic
Here is a quick stab at explaining diego_pmc's linked code... // Include standard library #include // Include library with time functions #include int main () { // Prepare a variable of type time_t called rawtime. // This is the native format for the time function. time_t rawtime; // Prepare a variable of type tm called timeinfo. // The time will be converted toby LordAshes - Coding
Could be. Generally I set my posts to *SOLVED* when my issue has been solved AND I have had time to test it. This way others that have the same problem can immediately see that a solution that works (at least works for someone) has been posted. If the information has helped you solve your problem, as a courtesy, you should edit the original post (i.e. the first post in this thread) and change the subject like to include something like *SOLVED*. This not only indicated to others that they do not need to reply but it also allows other, with the same problem, to see that a working solution has been posted.by LordAshes - Coding
Basically what the above code (provided by Crayon) does is change the Alpha Transparency of the object(s). When the Alpha Transparency is 255 the object is fully visible. As the Alpha Transparency is lowered the object becomes less visible as it is blended with the background. I am not sure if this is exactly what you wanted since it means that if the background is not black then you will be fadiby LordAshes - Coding
QuotetueidjI already showed you how to use them and you shot me down: My appologies to you. I re-checked the code that you provided and it did indeed use union. When I first looked at this code I missed the union declaration and thus I thought that you where declaring a pointer to each possible structure...hence my response about not being practical (which you refer to as "shot me down"). Thanks...I missed the second page link. I will look up union and see if that will work for me. However by the sounds of it (if it is anything like a Mathmatical union) then I don't think this will be the solution...but I will check...I confess that I don't know anything about C/C++ unions so I will read up on them. Thanks for the suggestion. EDIT 1: I just had a glance at Unby LordAshes - Offtopic

QuotetueidjWell you need to at least give an accurate example if you want people to improve it. Let's try again. QuotetueidjCompletely off the top of my head, might have typos/stupid mistakes: {Code removed to reduce space} Takes a bit more memory, but this is probably the simplest way unless you want to move the type field into ObjectType and make image_data a union. QuotescanffSorry I missed that part. Sounds like a hard way of doing it. Does you're code need to be strict C, this type of problem is exactly why C++ was created. You can use polymorphism and derive from a base class, much easier than casting voids and adding checks to see what the actual data type is. Window paths are not stored in a file they are stored in Env't variables. These vars point to the directories that DevKitPro is installed in. I am on vacation now so I can not check which one it uses. I think there is a generic one for the base DevKitPro directory called "DevKitPro". It has the format: /drive/path For example, /c/devkitpro As long as you set this var BEFORE ruby LordAshes - Coding
With all due respect, I know you are just trying to help, but I believe I answered this in this thread above. The reason why this is not possible is because the structure that image_data points to is not known at design time. In the simplified example above, it can point to either the startic or dynamic image structure. In my real code it can point to one of a hundred different structures. Theby LordAshes - Offtopic
Couple of suggestions: 1. Check "Tight VNC". It is free and I believe it specifically has an option to use Port 80 (i.e. the usuall HTTP port) for exactly your situation. 2. Another method that you can try, if you have some programming knowledge and have installation rights on the server and client: Write a TCP/IP proxy program. The whole reason for having the initial variable (i.e. the image_data pointer) be type void (or pointer to void) is because the structure that it will point to is not known at design-time. Someone on this forum previously indicated that I should use type void for this type of situation. However, the problem is that in the end I need to tell the pointer that it is no longer pointing at voidby LordAshes - Offtopic
