ug here we go again... getting tired of the "depending on your country" argument. Even in the U.S. you aren't going to get arrested for downloading roms (only if you are the uber hosting site) so lets stop bringing up the country thing everytime we mention the legality of this. It is illegal in many countries and since 39.1% of this site's traffic is from the U.S. (which is 5 timesby mdbrim - The Junkyard
i noticed a decrease in compile speed when i went from r16 to r17... haven't made the jump to 18 yet (based on all the difficulties i had going from 16 to 17)by mdbrim - Coding
QuoteHe would like to play burned games on DVD and from the USB port. That is illegal... sorry to be the one to tell you, but he probably didn't mention that part. Whether it is a downloaded version or one you made from a game you own, it is still illegal. We don't support that on this forum. I would recommend removing that portion of your post so that your topic isn't locby mdbrim - The Junkyard
it is legal in SOME countries. In the U.S, however, It is ILLEGAL to dump a ROM taken from your own cartridge. The rule only applies to magnetic material because the courts determined that ROM media was not subject to the same volatility as magnetic media (for which the law was created).by mdbrim - Homebrew Applications
yeah the HBC is just a facilitator... you have to download and put apps on your sd card etc.by mdbrim - Getting Started
yeah i have 1.0.6 and still get a few freezes now and then. But my network works smooth.by mdbrim - Homebrew General
yeah, i don't see it either, so Quotemdbrimi'm not seeing the ad... is it gone now? Adblock FTW! :)by mdbrim - Offtopic
BUT IT ALSO SUPPORTS BURRITOS!!! Oh wait that's something else. Yeah i guess if you are describing non functional game play then yeah... it sucks! I'll give you that one but a good effort, and like you said in your post, hopefully a stepping stone towards getting better at homebrew! i wonder if i have my first homebrew... i'm gonna put it on my HBB repository... itby mdbrim - Ideas, requests

QuoteThat word always applies to coding. totally agree... i'm just saying it is VERY relative.by mdbrim - Ideas, requests
QuoteArikadoThe author also made piing and briickout which both sucked... Easy tiger, the term "sucked", especially as it applies to homebrew, is VERY relative!by mdbrim - Ideas, requests
i JUST starting learning about working with files and stuff on the SD card so i'm not that knowledgeable on external files, but i had a similar problem and what fixed it for me was this line: fatInitDefault();by mdbrim - Coding
Dr. Lucky, can you make me a superman logo with an S inside of it?by mdbrim - Offtopic
i have similar issues with random freezes when i leave homebrew... interesting... Yeah you cna't use the left and right anymore cuz of the alt view they have (push the 1 (or is it the 2?)) so use the plus and minus.by mdbrim - Homebrew General
It all boils down to this: If you think something could be done better than the way it is currently done... THEN DO IT. PROVE IT. If you don't have the technical know-how to do that, then go learn! If you don't have time to learn or are too lazy to learn, then too bad, live with what you have. I think the majority of coders don't have a problem with a little constructive criby mdbrim - Ideas, requests
UPDATE: yeah, it appears to be an "out of mem" issue... if i start removing larger images and sound files, it starts to play the larger mp3s... i'll have to start looking into you buffer a little at a time method...by mdbrim - Coding
ok it didn't break, it just appears that my allowable size has gotten smaller... ug Yeah, right now i've got a statement that pops up saying too big if the lSize part borks... it seems that somehow in this, the max file size i could play has gone down, so hopefully you can help me with your playfile example... :Dby mdbrim - Coding
ha, i broke it... now it isn't loading any mp3 files... wth!by mdbrim - Coding
ok sounds good... but your snippet also caused an exit... anyway you can clean up your example? I'm having a hard time grasping what you are doing... is there a loop that should be in there to keep the buffer updated? Thanks again for all your help man... worst case scenario, i'll just have it tell you "your mp3 is too big sucka, pick a new one" if i cna't get your method toby mdbrim - Coding
I'm pretty sure it is.... it works when i have smaller mp3s, and then it crashes with the bigger ones... it works with the bigger ones if i manually define lSize (instead of let ftell (BGM): do it. WHen i manually define lSize, it plays the mp3, but i can't get lSize big enough to play the whole mp3.by mdbrim - Coding
lSize is showing 0 for the instances it crashes... lSize = ftell(BGM); makes lSize 0 for big files?by mdbrim - Coding
long lSize; i tried unsigned long lSize; and long long lSize; both give same crash upon load attempt.by mdbrim - Coding
it exited BGM = fopen("sd:/apps/testing/music/blackjack.mp3", "rb"); fseek (BGM , 0 , SEEK_END); lSize = 32767; lSize = ftell (BGM); rewind (BGM); mbuffer = 0; mbuffer = (char*) malloc (sizeof(char)*lSize); if(!mbuffer) exit(0); mresult = fread (mbuffer,1,lSize,BGM); fclose(BGM); so was mresult = fread (mbuffer,1,lSize,BGM); where it was crashing?by mdbrim - Coding
lSize = 32767; prevented it from crashing, but it only played the first 1 second of the mp3 so the ftell(BGM) is the part it seems to be choking on.by mdbrim - Coding
actually, it doesn't crash on the playbuffer part... it crashes while trying to load the song on this part: BGM = fopen("sd:/apps/testing/music/blackjack.mp3", "rb"); if(BGM==NULL) nosong=1; if(BGM!=NULL) { fseek (BGM , 0 , SEEK_END); lSize = ftell (BGM); rewind (BGM); mbuffer = (char*) malloc (sizeof(char)*lSize); mresult = fread (mbuffer,1,lSize,BGM); fclose(by mdbrim - Coding
cool ok, that makes sense... any way you can describe how you fixed that... i'm browsing your wiiradio source right now to see if i can figure it out. Does the SVN version of mp3player fix this and a simple update to that would help? Not to up to date on SVN builds and how to install them. (still a newb in some areas....)by mdbrim - Coding
Used Arikado's blog to get external mp3 playing to work... works great. Had some more discussion about it here. All worked well. Then i started throwing dif mp3 files in there and noticed that some would crash when it attempted to load and others wouldn't, and it seems to be based on the file size... I haven't nailed down the exact cutoff point yet, but the biggest fileby mdbrim - Coding
no problem man, hope it helps... when you start trying it out, let me / us know if you have any problems. You can obviously create your own custom sound function (or not use one at all and just call each effect individually with separate ASND_SetVoice functions) I just found it easier to have one ASND_SetVoice part and send varying freqs and sound files to it.by mdbrim - Coding
so you don't have to wait for my source, here's what i did: i wanted the ability to play the same sound effect but be able to pick at which frequency it played at based on game play. Example: when you lay a poker chip down it made a standard chip down sound... but when you laid a STACK of chips down, it played the same sound effect but with a deeper tone (lower frequency) so you gotby mdbrim - Coding
QuoteDoes your "playing audio puzzle" include sound effects? If so, do they work properly with the background audio? yes it does and yes they do! even have multiple sound effects playing at the same time with the looping audio... (GetFirstUnusedVoice is my friend!!)by mdbrim - Coding
