This isn't a complaint really, just an observation. The wii homebrew scene is moving really slow at the moment, at least as far as emulator updates and stuff like that. The Genesis emu seems to be getting a lot of love, but I don't see much progress in some of the others like PSX, N64, MAME and stuff like that. Is there a reason for this. Are developers moving onto PS3 or something?by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
I asked the libogc people about the arcade controllers and they said they could do nothing to fix the problem. Is there anymore news from the emulator programmers about 3rd party controllers? I read that SNES9X supported 3rd party controllers now, but it won't work with my arcade controller. It would be really nice if someone could make a fix for this. I am only really able to use the stby jlenoconel - Homebrew Applications
So can anything be done? Do you mean the old version of the Genesis emulator? I just tried it and it works fine. Anyway, if it is the new library being used then surely it can be fixed. Was there a reason for a loss of compatibility?by jlenoconel - Homebrew Applications
So will it make a difference if I try the old version of the emulator. I'm convinced it is the menu. The controller DOES work, but it won't go up, it goes down by itself, almost like its in a permanent down position. Its doesn't do this in normal games or with the other emulators I mentioned. Borrow a Hori stick yourself and try, you will see the problem then.by jlenoconel - Homebrew Applications
They are arcade sticks, so that means the Hori and Madcatz ones which connect to the wiimote. The reason the sticks are not working is because somehow the menus from the snes, GBA, nes, and now the Genesis emulators stop the stick from being compatible. The simple menus from the SMS and Hugo GX emulators somehow allow the joystick to work just fine. For some reason the new menu affects in gameby jlenoconel - Homebrew Applications
Another problem is that arcade sticks won't work with the new version of the emulator. I haven't tested my new arcade stick with the old version, but did with Hugo GX and SMS emulators and it worked fine with those. The joystick just doesn't work with emulators that have the more advanced menus instead of the simple ones like the older version of Genesis Plus GX and the others Iby jlenoconel - Homebrew Applications
...one would be for apps and stuff, the other would have all my music, videos and what not on it? Is this possible?by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
Well, at first it was doing it and crashing I believe, and then it was doing it and still loading the game. I changed the sound settings so maybe that will make a difference. Its done it with a few other programs soooo... I thought that the new homebrew channel ran off of IOS58, so if you are running it on another IOS it would become unstable. Don't know if this is true. Thanks for alby jlenoconel - Getting Started
I am going to check the ios's later today as I think maybe now I do not have IOS58 installed with the homebrew channel on top of it. I don't think I even have IOS for USB2 support enabled and never have, but I have never had these type of problems either. I installed the genesis emulator from the homebrew browser. Hopefully installing IOS58 will change things but we will have to waitby jlenoconel - Getting Started
OK I am beginning to get very frustrated with my wii. I am going to post a checklist of all my ios's so I can figure out what's going on. Was going to ask if any of this could have anything to do with the sound settings on the genesis plus emulator, as this is crashing constantly, over and over again and its getting to be very annoying. It will do the buzzing sound when I try to loadby jlenoconel - Getting Started
Just had the crash again. Happened every time I would load a rom on the Sega Genesis emulator. Stopped when I reloaded the emulator, took out the USB and reinserted it. Not sure why its doing this :( Could it be anything to do with having too much stuff on the SD card?by jlenoconel - Getting Started
I'm a little bit worried that the USB's at the back are busted. How easy is it to mess though up?by jlenoconel - Getting Started
Will someone please give me some advice?by jlenoconel - Getting Started
Well, its the latest wii homebrew channel version, wii menu 4.2, and I believe I have IOS58 installed. Its not doing it all the time, like everytime I use my USB, but its doing it frequently enough for it to be a concern. Thanks guys.by jlenoconel - Getting Started
I bought a 2nd hand wii off of a friend and got everything working on it pretty perfectly. I have been having a problem with the system crashing when it tries to load off of USB a few times though, once through wiiradio, another time when I tried to load a rom through the Genesis emulator, and once through wiiMC. Every time there has been a loud buzzing noise. Is there something wrong with theby jlenoconel - Getting Started
I'm gonna have to check. I am worried it is a hardware issue. I am not totally sure if the system was properly looked after. I am going to send my other wii into Nintendo maybe anyway. Do wii's internal hardware break easily or would someone basically have to treat the system like complete sh*t for it to go bad?by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
If its an older system, could it be that there is something wrong with the wii itself that would prevent it from getting online? It seems to be having trouble in general getting and staying online. Ive tried wiiradio and WiiMC and a few different programs and the system seems to be having trouble connecting.by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
Well everytime I try to go online it comes up with an error message and it won't let me connect. God knows what's wrong?by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
Just bought a 2nd hand wii and am trying to use it to get online and I cannot since I installed the homebrew channel and updated my system using Dop Mii. Any suggestions?by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
I'm still a little confused. I don't know if I mentioned this but I can get the game to load through Gecko OS but not the regular disc channel. What does this mean? I do not see any clear option to know which IOS is missing. Its not really a big deal as I can get the game to load through Gecko but I am still a little concerned. Priiloader sort of had me stumped. Sorry if I am comiby jlenoconel - Homebrew General
I'll try priiloader, although I am not entirely sure how to use it. I used Gecko OS to play the game yesterday but I don't know how to use it to update the OS as you say. I'll have to look into though.by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
OK, so I successfully updated to system menu 4.1. I chose this because I read that it is the most beneficial system menu to be on and there is no real benefit to having 4.2. I wanted to ask, which ios is used to be able to install usb cameras and what other ios's would you recommend I install. I will test my wii out to see if I have any problems but I think everything is fine. Thanks toby jlenoconel - Homebrew General
OK I have been reading around and from what I can see, I will still be able to install wads if I remove IOS249 and install a custom IOS249. So what is the safest way to update to 4.2u now or am I screwed? This is a pain. Not anyone's fault but there seems like there is so much to do.by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
The Tatsunoko vs Capcom game I have is the original disc, just to confirm. I don't run iso's on my system and never felt the need to. But I do want to keep my custom channels and full functionability as far as homebrew goes. I don't see the need to update from 3.2u if I can just update the IOS's. Everytime I have had menu 4.2 I could not install my custom WADS, so this iby jlenoconel - Homebrew General
Why do I need to update to 4.2? Do I not just need to update the IOS's to play the game? This is confusing. I still want to keep my custom channels/WADS.by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
Can someone give me a hand? I wouldn't know which IOS's to install. Thanks.by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
Why does downgrading stuff the wii? Oh no I am freaking out now. I used the trucha bug and all that and I didn't have any problems from what I could tell. Everything seems to be fine. OK if I need help with Dop-Mii I will ask. Thanks guys. Which IOS do I fakesign to be able to play the newer games then?by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
So I downgraded my wii so that I could use my legal WADS for the system, but when I pop TvsC in it says I need to update. Is there anyway I can still play this game and keep my WADS? Will I need to do some kind of update. Please help.by jlenoconel - Homebrew General
Well people have said that what he did was fake but I am not so sure. I think what he did was run some code and basically scratched the surface of the PS3's security, and blew it all out of proportion, made a bunch of promises, and then nothing. I am glad I have stuck with my wii for homebrew because it has been brilliant and there hasn't ever been any false hope or anything like thatby jlenoconel - Offtopic
