QuoteDrLuckyI was only 10 for the Y2K bug... so I don't remember : how did they fix it? or was it blown out of proportion? It was blown out of proportion (I only think that not 100% sure) because I can set my old Mac SE to over 2000 on the year without a problem.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
QuoteHyperHackerI wonder if you can just start up FTPii blindly and use that to copy everything? HBC even has a function to send binaries over the LAN, so as long as you could manage to get it started, you'd be good. Once BootMii is released I bet you could get something like this to run on start up ;) P.S. Not fully sure how bootmii is installed so this might not work unless the systemby pinball Wizard - Offtopic
Arikado is right. Plus Windows is also closed-source making that impossible to port and since the Wii is PPC architecture and windows is x86 based you run into a major problem. Running Mac OS X on the Wii is a slim chance but it breaks the license agreement with Apple automatically making it illegal. Best bet is linux.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
QuoteArikadoInteresting about what you said about microsoft unable to make any profit from there xbox's yet. Makes you wonder why they even bothered releasing the 360. BTW, out of three current consoles, I personally believe the PS3 is the best one. However, I'm waiting for another model with PS2 backward compatibility before I take the plunge. QuoteArikadoAs much as I would love to see another sega console, I also think the market is too crowded with three consoles. Personally, I think Mircrosoft is about done with consoles. They lose a little over 1 billion dollars a year with the system. The system still has yet to make any profit in any one quarter or year. I do see the idea of it being too crowded though. It is a 2 year old article based only on speculation but I can hope right? The Dreamcast was just released at the wrong time with the wrong hardware. It had a never been heard of technology with GD-Rom disc (1GB discs) great to stop piracy for longer than I expected. Sony really killed the Dreamcast with the DVD drive. Either way, what do you all think about it.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
AKAIK The only reason it was taken off is to shorten the message. The homepage looks crowded with all the long warnings listed.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
Yes, but this is only if you have 3.4. With 3.4 Nintendo now has the correct lawyer talk to install any update without warning.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
I have the same issue with all tv shows. My TV is old and the deflection coil is starting to go up and overscan. I don't put blame on anyone as I have the issue with TV shows and the real system menu.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General

This would need to be done using Patchmii most likely. There is a front slot illuminator demo that uses is downloadable via HBB so it is possible to write code for the system to do it. The issue is finding someone to do it. We currently are more so looking for a broad range of homebrew apps before we extend to this type of thing. I personally also want my slot lit but have it on an option to turnby pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
You should remain fine for playing purposes. What is your system version? If it is lower than 3.4 just rent a Wii game that has a newer update and, well, update so your wii is back to normal.by pinball Wizard - FixMii
I see nintendo releasing some type of HD Wii but I don't see blu-ray. Nintendo's philosophy is to keep the system cheap and affordable. The lower end hardware the Wii has in it right now has allowed Nintendo to make money of of just the console.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic

I am curious to know what the Xbox 360 has on its hands. I absolutely hate Microsoft for reasons that if you want to know PM me as this isn't a ranting topic, so I want to know IF when they are going to ditch the system and upgrade or kill it off. Microsoft has lost over 4 billion dollars on the entire project and still has yet to give up. Personally I see an introduction of a major wii updaby pinball Wizard - Offtopic
So the maps off of Google is illegal huh... Wow the PSP community is hooked on piracy of games and illegal things in general. So to answer your question the short answer doesn't exist. We could port what DanielHueho talks about and give it a nice interface that is familiar but other than that, no it is not possible.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
Is google earth open-source? Serious question as I haven't looked into it. I know there is homebrew on the psp for viewing all kinds of data like this. It currently contains Google maps, Google Satellite, Google Terrain, Yahoo Maps, Yahoo Satellite, Virtual Earth Satellite, and I think one other.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
I have heard that by then end of this year, Sony is supposed to be coming out with a comepletly redone psp. It won't be andother revision of it like "PSP-4000" or anything, it will be PSP 2.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
I have seen about 15 minutes of the presentation the Bushing and Marcan gave. Great job. Very informative and I truly have a greater understanding of how this all has worked out. The one question I have is where is the actual demo of bootmii in this video: Great job Bushing and Marcan though. I was impressed by the information you guys put into it. Yeah. I don't have any fear. Any computer that I expect to be using anytime near then I am sure will have a fix in the hardware. My older computer hardware (mac museum, including a Mac 128k, Mac SE, Quadra 660AV, etc) I will just set the date back. Sooner or later the computer engineers will have to consider this in design.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
I have (at the moment Megaman sprites) a character with jump capabilities in a gravity world. I want to be able to jump upward but at the same time move right. At the moment It will either more right OR jump up. I want to get the the 45 degree angle part of the action.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
I have gotten down a flash engine for side-scrollers like Super Mario Bros. and Mega-Man and it senses walls and can jump and move left and right. Now I need to get the sprite to move in a upward-rightward method using only the arrow keys. I can post some code if you need it to help me. I am working on a full fledged 16-bit dedication game with some type of engine like the listed games.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
I can consider putting something similar to this together if there is enough interest. My issue is that I am on PPC mac which the compiler for the wii is not supported atm. I have a windows machine but the machine is not connected to the internet which is needed to install the software. I can look into writing the base code for this at least.
