Well, so much for that being a reliable solution. The other day I ran into the error, which is now relatively frequent (about every other time I launch SNES9xGX) and going in and out of the Homebrew Browser did not help. It's actually pretty random. It worked after rebooting the Wii and going in and out of a couple of applications. Tantric: Any ideas what could be going on? I'llby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Thank you metroid_maniac. Have you checked out Metroid-SR388 and AM2R? Just curious.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Typing from Wii. Thx for 3.4 enabled DVDX update. Can DVDX be uninstalled or is it a one way ticket?by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I had it happen last night again and can confirm that you can temporarily fix it by going into the Homebrew Browser and out again. At least, it has solved the problem twice so I'm starting to see a pattern.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I had this happpen for the first time bout 10 days ago with SNES9XGX. I went in and out of serveral homebrew applications and eventually it worked and kept working fine for several days. Then, last night, it happened again. I kept trying going in and out without success. When the problem happens, it also affects FCEUGX but not VBAGX. Ha, ha! I feel old. I actually grew up playing the 2600 and would still play occasinally right up until a friend of mine bought the NES around '88. After that, we never looked back. Now I'm more than twice as old than Arikado.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
StellaWii I'm surprised it wasn't added to the Homebrew Browser with today's update (maybe too recent of a release).by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
QuoteUnfortunately I don't have a disc with an update that hasn't already been installed. But why wouldn't it work? Stick the disc in, goto GeckoOS and click Launch Disc Title (or whatever it's called). I'd be very surprised if this cares for any updates (in fact, a quick flick through the source code doesn't reveal any code that uses the update partition) OK. Wheby TheManuel - Homebrew General
QuotewhodaresDon't you just launch the game from within GeckoOS to skip the update checks? As opposed to using the "rebooter" I'm not sure if it would work like that. The menu option for region free (which includes the update skip capability) is configurable within the "rebooter" sub-menu which is what does not work in my case.by TheManuel - Homebrew General
I guess this also means I can't use Gecko OS to launch games skipping the DVD update checks. That sucks.by TheManuel - Homebrew General
Apparently, the reboot with hooks option does not work with 3.3 and the Oct 23rd updates. I go into Gecko OS and press B and get the following message: Rebooting With Hooks Error Loading Menuby TheManuel - Homebrew General
I figured what it causing the issue but not why. I have an original Nintendo and a MadCatz Gamecube memory card. When I have both plugged in, the Homebrew Channel apparently "thinks" there is a USB Gecko installed and lights up the icon. Furthermore, when I launch Gecko OS under these conditions, I just get the Gecko OS border with no menu options and no way to exit but to force the Wii to shuby TheManuel - Homebrew General
Thanks. That's even more puzzling as I don't own a Gecko USB and don't have anything connected to the USB port.by TheManuel - Homebrew General
How permanent Gecko OS really is? I installed it today out of curiosity since I don't really have any games from other regions and neither any games that require a system update higher than what I already have (3.3U with Oct 23 update). However, I could not figure out how it works since the Gecko OS screen just persists and you can do nothing but hard reset the Wii. The thing is that Iby TheManuel - Homebrew General
QuotewhodaresThis will not be as clear cut as you might imagine. How many other programs you have running (and what they are) will drastically affect performance of the machine in general. Then more specific to the emulator will be what rendering method you are using (DirectX, OpenGL, Windows GDI), combine that with your graphics card. One of my machines has a 1.3GHz chip, but it runs dog slow oby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
QuoteTantricQuotedaniel_c_wI never tried any GBA emulator, but I am surprised, that the Wii would not be powerfull enought to have multiple instances of GBA emulations running. One problem is that VBA is written for Intel architecture (x86 asm). The Wii has a PPC chip. So I'm using the C core of VBA for most stuff, which is slower. Even on native intel machines, VBA is more demanding thaby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Indeed, I should have thought of that seeing how some GBA games play a little choppy on VBAGX. This would be feasible for the original PC ports, though.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Is there any way to play local multiplayer on Gamboy Advance games that used the system link feature? I'm instrested in Legend of Zelda: Four Swords in particular (I know there is a Gamecube version). I wonder if the emulator features some way allowing local multiplayer through splitscreen.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Maybe it is intentional to eilimate "extra lines" in broadcast.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Sure, but I don't think it's been ruled out that you could get the updates even with earlier firmware versions and that only the Service Agreement has been updated to allow for it.by TheManuel - Homebrew General
Well, if "wii" don't know, then why do you state categorically: Autoupdating is possible on 3.4 or higher. Nothing else. No autoupdates have happened yet. I don't mean to antagonize you, I know you mean well but mis-information is spread most easily when unconfirmed speculation is stated as fact.by TheManuel - Homebrew General
I'm probably beating a dead horse with this question but I keep seeing people affirm this as fact and yet I have not seen anybody confirm it. The notion of Nintendo not being able to auto-update your firmware (without notification) without having installed System Menu 3.4 first, is this just speculation or is there evidence in the code of the 3.4 update that suggests this is the case?by TheManuel - Homebrew General
QuoteicefireYou can keep WC24 on and play online games if you are on <3.4 (anything besides this new update). Is this a fact? I've heard speculation that Nintendo might not need the update itself to force future updates but rather, by changing the Service Agreement for using their online service, the can force the updates upon you console regardless of what menu version you have. Oh great Lords of the WiiBrew, Your faithful gather in masses before your stronghold in sheer panic. Their faces a sorry blend of fear and confusion. Chaos rules the land. Mis-informing leads surface. False prophets stir up the crowd. Fear of bricked Wii's and un-notified future updates sends a chill down theirs spines. QuoteHow to block automatic updates? Turn of you wifi connection. I wonder, should this not read "Turn off WiiConnect24"? Would not the update come from WC24 but you can still be connected to the internet without getting the updates? I know this is all being sorted out at the moment so I'll wait for more concrete news. True. That too. You can barely see the icons at the bottom of the screen on Quake. I think it may be that TV overscan is not beeing accounted for properly. Analog PC monitors have little or no overscan as (you control that within the monitor's menu anyway) and of course, fixed resolution displays like LCD screens don't either (there is no "scanning" in those) so maybe the programmerby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I also noticed the HBB gets cutoff at the top and bottom of the screen. I can only see half of the text that indicates the amount of free space left in the SD card, for instance.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
So what is the problem with re-formatting the card to FAT32? You can simply back up everything to the computer and restore later or am I missing something?by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
