QuoteSifJaryeah that didn't work. i'm now on latest firefox as well, still not working... weird, what happens when you goto the website? Is it just a blank white page?by g_man - Offtopic
can you help me with configureation. last time I tried I got nowhere. thanks.by g_man - Offtopic
What do you guys think the best IDE for linux is? It has to be able to run custom makefiles too. I'm trying to find one, ive tried Code::Blocks and eclipse and had no luck with either. thanks for any replies.by g_man - Offtopic
QuoteSifJar Anyway, I'm afraid neither of those links seem to work for me in Firefox anyway... hmm, firefox works fine for me, make sure your using the latest version.by g_man - Offtopic
Ok, i'm sure my problem is pretty easy, but what am I doing wrong. I'm trying to set the location of circles on a 2D plane, but I have to have different sized circles. I already have the code for changing the sizes setup, but I'm having trouble placing them in the correct location on the screen. Here is the code that should place the center of the circle in the position entered:by g_man - Coding
Regular make still works right. Try reinstalling devkitpro one more time. After you delete it, delete any enviromental variables that currently point to any devkitpro files. Also delete the part of your path pointing to msys. Reinstall it again, and make sure to place it in the root of a partition like C: or D: (This isn't required, but it will get rid of the chance for a bad path). Now, goby g_man - Offtopic
I took a quick look at the source, and it looks like it uses SDL, so thats good. It also says that it is portable to many platforms. Another plus :).by g_man - Ideas, requests
thanks, I'm just now trying to learn socket programming so that method seems slightly advanced. I also found that my solution might be to implement ssh tunneling using corkscrew.by g_man - Offtopic
Try checking your DEVKITARM enviromental variable. It looks like it's current value is /c/devkitPro/devkitARM/ which wouldn't work. Make sure that the variable starts with C:\devkitPro\....by g_man - Offtopic
thanks I will try some of these, I hope they work, otherwise i'm back at square one for getting past the proxy and firewall.by g_man - Offtopic
The problem is that the firewall blocks all outgoing connections(I believe), so I can't.by g_man - Offtopic
I have been searching the internet without any luck with finding a good web based vnc client. I was wondering if anybody knew of one. It has to run on a mac, and it also has to be web based because my school has a proxy so downloading a client doesn't work, I believe they block the port. I have the server working successfully on my computer with the correct firewall settings. Thank you.by g_man - Offtopic
FTPii doesn't work like that. You connect to it, you cannot have it connect to another source. If you want linux you would still have to get the files on your computer so that you can get the files ready for install. If you want a way to download homebrew to the wii use the homebrew browser. By dangerous homebrew I guessing you mean something that isn't supported here. It is just impracby g_man - Ideas, requests

I don't have too much experience working with the SD card on the wii, but I thought I had enough to get this to work. At the moment it wont find an existing file on the SD card. Here is my code: int getLevels(){ if(!fatInitDefault()){ return 1; } Level levelinfo; FILE *fp = fopen("SD:/gravitii.lvl","rb"); if(fp != NULL){ /*Some Code*/ } else return 1; return 0; } Iby g_man - Coding
Quoteyellowstar Quoteg_man NOTE: a .bin is also called a flat binary.don't quote me on this, but It hink all yopu have to do is copy it to memory and then start execution there, but I would heavily suggest the method above. No, it's not that simple. You'd need to compile it with -fPIC IIRC, as well as other things to compile a dynamically loaded executable. It's much better toby g_man - Coding
If the apps is open-source, open the app and find the file called ~.pnproj. Opening this file will bring up a programmer's notepad screen, and from this point go to tools->make. If successful the app folder will have a .dol and you can run that on your wii, otherwise you will get errors. These errors should be complaining about a library file not being linked, or installed. So you can eitby g_man - Coding
I think you are taking in the wrong direction. Creating and executing another .dol to play a level is a bad idea, it is just extra work. I would create some system where you store the levels in a struct and then have a function that reads the struct and plays the level. That way when downloading levels you only need a few bytes for a level that hundres of kilobytes per level. NOTE: a .bin is alsby g_man - Coding
weird, I would just try restarting your computer, and if that doesn't work then go to the control panel->Device Manager->Netweork Adaptors. Find yours, right click, and select Disable. Hit the refresh button at the top then go back and click enable. I'm not sure if this will do anything because you said your internet connection normally works fine, but it's worth a shot.by g_man - Homebrew General
Quoteprofetyleng_man: I've heard a bunch of people (amongst others, Arikado) recommend Allegro as a good PC graphics library. I haven't used it, but I have looked at it and to me it seems good. Another one is SDL, but it isn't as versatile and powerful as Allegro I guess. And so we have openGL (which you can use with SDL), but it's quite complicated to use. After you have gone through the tutorials and think you have a solid understanding, try taking a simple app with source. Get it to compile and then mess with the source and try to change it. I have always found that I learn best when I get to play and modify something I am given.by g_man - Coding
Have you tried installing apps, if not install the homebrew browser, there is a link to it on the front page. From this app you can install others without having to take your SD out. If you have tried and it isn't working make sure your SD card looks like this SD:apps/app_title/boot.dol You can have other files on it as long as the path to your app looks like that.(app_title can be anythinby g_man - Getting Started
I actually think that the wii is a good platform to learn C. Sure you should learn the very basics on a PC, but I started out on wii development with barly any knowledge of pointers, and libraries, but wii development taught me that. I also think that it is faster to get developing on the wii. I didn't, and still don't like programming for the PC because I have yet to find a good graphiby g_man - Ideas, requests
There are three ways I can think of to run a .dol. The first, and longes approch would be to get the .dol on you SD card. You could use an SD reader, or FTPii, and just put it on like any other app. The icon and xml file aren't important. This way is fool-proof, but it takes a while to test it each time. The second and my perfered method is using WiiLoad. To get this to work both your wiiby g_man - Coding
1) bin stands for binary. A binary file is any file that isn't text. To know if it is text think of it this way. Try opening a file in notepad. If you can read it then it is text. If it is a bunch of jumbled characters then it is a binary file. A .bin Is a type of executable files, just like a .dol or an .elf 2) raw C / C++ code is text, because you could easily read it through notepad. Nby g_man - Coding
What I plan on doing for my game is just creating a stucture for my level, which holds all of the information about the level. Then you could download a text file with all of the levels in it and then read the file to get the levels. I hope that made sense, I am typing on an iPod inside a very bumpy bus ride.by g_man - Coding
I also think think this would be helpful. I have gained most of my programming experience from wii dev and it would have been helpful to have a good tutorial on installing libs and suchby g_man - Ideas, requests
