QuoteAStew98946To SifJar: So, what I THINK you are saying is, in your opinion: 1.) The Wii Shop Channel update and IOS62 should NOT "uninstall" Homebrew or render it unable to run Bootmii 2.) If you have an older Wii, the Wii Shop Channel update and IOS62 should not keep a Wii from booting directly into Bootmii 3.) If I have not yet modded my Wii, the Wii Shop Channel update and IOby SifJar - Getting Started
I'm afraid the code parser on these forums removes HTML tags, it would probably be better if you put the source in a pastebin or something like that and posted a link.by SifJar - Homebrew General
There is NOT a "new version of 4.3". There is a Shop Channel update (which appears as a system update), which also installs IOS62 (required for the WiiU transfer channel). Once you have updated the shop channel, you can then download YouTube and WiiU Transfer Channel if you wish (they are not part of the update). As for the safety of updating: As is very clearly stated in the rules of the forby SifJar - Getting Started
I am assuming, seeing as you didn't actually state it, you are talking about the WiiU (this is still a Wii forum, so any discussion of other consoles should be explicitly stated). Currently, homebrew can be run via Smash Stack or Bathaxx, but HBC cannot be installed at this point.by SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
All those crappy packs are a load of warez crap only useful to pirates wanting to run all their warez. They'll try to tell you that those things are essential for having a "modded" Wii, but that is nonsense. All you need for homebrew is HBC. Those packs will do more harm than good in your situation, avoid them.by SifJar - Getting Started
Do you have priiloader? If so you have probably got the stupid block online updates hack enabled. Disable it and try again. If you are on 4.3, it won't wipe out priiloader. If you're actually lower than that, the update will delete priiloader but you can just reinstall it afterwards.by SifJar - Homebrew General
Priiloader will be wiped out by any update, can easily be reinstalled. BootMii might need reinstalled as well. The latest HBC will survive ANY current update. Gecko OS will still work fine. The only possible thing that could go wrong is if your Wii is actually a Korean Wii that has had it's region changed. Provided you got the Wii first hand, you have nothing to worry about. Some dodgy seby SifJar - Homebrew General
It's also fairly poor in comparison. I haven't used it extensively, but I dislike the UI for YouTube. As a media player, it's great. But not for YouTube. I reckon the official channel would be better, were I able to get it here in the UK. As for it using less blocks; that's because the channel itself is just a forwarder which loads the actual WiiMC software from the SD card. Tby SifJar - Homebrew General
QuoteFGGGASo it doesnt damage anything? I kept reading not to update anythingThat's nonsense which only applies to people with warez loaders. Even then, provided you're not a complete idiot you can update normally and not experience many issues.by SifJar - Homebrew General
I think SDHC cards should work fine for installing. With older methods, they didn't because old System Menus didn't support SDHC (homebrew had SDHC support before the Wii officially got it), but I believe with the latest System Menu and exploits, SDHC should be just fine (i.e. sizes over 2GB). BTW, there isn't such a thing as a 3GB card ;) And yes that card reader looks fine, alby SifJar - Getting Started
Nope, it'll be fine. The update does nothing to stop homebrew working. Only thing that could be harmed is backup loading stuff, and we don't support that here. On a side note: There's a YouTube channel now? Interesting, I'll have to download that at the weekend and check it out.by SifJar - Homebrew General
If you run HackMii Installer again and use it to uninstall BootMii/boot2 and HBC, that'll get rid of most traces, assuming you never messed with IOS patching or cIOS. However, you should note that Nintendo will always be able to detect that HBC was installed at one point, and also that there is no indication that having homebrew will prevent any WiiU transfer process from working; nothing ofby SifJar - Homebrew General
All Wiis work just fine with homebrew. The ones without GC compatibility are called the "family bundle" or something like that I think, so if you care about GC, try and get one of the normal ones instead of one of them. As for card readers: pretty much any should do the job. You shouldn't need to use it too often (just for transferring the installation files to the card, and then any homeby SifJar - Getting Started
If you want to upgrade to a larger card, just copy everything from the current one to the new one.by SifJar - Getting Started
We do not support loading backups here. As to what to do from here: Run apps. Whatever apps you like. As I said, we won't give help with backup loading, but any other apps we can help with. A bigger card shouldn't be necessary, most apps are quite small. You can also run them from a USB drive if you prefer.by SifJar - Getting Started
Try TinyLoad or Revolution to load the game instead of Gecko OS. Dunno if it'll make any difference but you can try. Failing that, try messing with the Gecko OS video settings.by SifJar - Homebrew General
WiiMC is the best media player there is for the Wii. It and MPlayer CE are the only two worth even considering using, and WiiMC is basically just MPlayer CE with a decent GUI. As for best format, I'm not really sure. For best results, make sure the resolution is 480p or below (anything above may play, but will be downscaled to 480p, as that's the max the Wii can output, so there'by SifJar - Getting Started
I believe support for MKV isn't great in WiiMC/MPlayer CE (both are based off the same media playing code). There's some more detailed info here:by SifJar - Getting Started
Gamecube: Not possible by any means supported at this forum. Older consoles: I am assuming you are talking here about games unavailable on the Virtual Console (VC), or games that you already legally own and do not wish to repurchase. There are some "VC injects" (basically people take VC games, swap the ROM and edit the banner, and reinstall). Most of them are illegal (i.e. unless you purchaseby SifJar - Homebrew General
Your System Menu version is irrelevant, you can get the latest version here: Make sure you have no USB devices plugged in or GC memory cards/controllers, as these have sometimes caused problems for some people in the past. Not sure if there are still issues, but you may as well try.by SifJar - Homebrew Applications
Gecko OS can load channels if you have a version of IOS36 that accepts fakesignatures (i.e. an old or patched version). We don't support patching IOS here so I can't give any further info than that. There are also some other channel loaders, such as Triiforce and postloader, but they can also be used for piracy, so I can't provide anything more than their names here.by SifJar - Getting Started
Apps aren't "installed", they are just run from the SD card. And you can have as many as you like; each app gets it's own subfolder within the "apps" folder on the root of your SD card. So for example, you should have a folder on your SD card called "apps". Inside that folder, there should be another folder called "WiiMC". Within that, there should be a boot.dol, an icon.png and a meta.by SifJar - Getting Started
The "private" folder may contain some save data or channels if you have moved any to the SD card. If you didn't have a private folder before you started installing homebrew, you can safely delete it. The other stuff you can delete.by SifJar - Homebrew General
QuotefilfatYou need to have a bigger SD card... XD Did you read his post? He said his card had 1.78 GB free. More than enough for a NAND dump (512MB). OP: Make sure your card definitely has more than 512MB free, and if it does, see if you can try another card (borrow one from somewhere if possible).by SifJar - Getting Started

Try looking in the settings of the SNES emulator for any video output settings and change them. It may be trying to output in a format not supported by your TV. (This is probably especially true of ROMs not for your own region).by SifJar - Homebrew General
If your Wii is currently in working order, I see no reason to keep anything but the latest backup, and possibly the first backup should you ever want to go back to the state your Wii was in just after installing HBC/BootMii.by SifJar - Homebrew General
