Snapshot is a savestate, i.e. the emulator records the exact state of the emulated console for future retrieval. SRAM is emulation of on-cart saves (i.e battery backup for SNES and NES games). If the game itself never had an in-game save function, then you'll have to use savestates. Otherwise, I think Tantric's emulators are set up intially to automatically save the SRAM when youby alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Is anyone working on/interested in a Nethack port? It's open source, and seems to have been ported to multiple platforms (including DS). Anyone feel like devoting some of their life for free to do this? I suppose I could spend a year working out how to do it...by alainvey - Ideas, requests
There's no way to change discs without rebooting the emulator at the moment, but there's no reason why it wouldn't work once that's implemented, as far as I know.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Also, for ad-hoc scans and virus removal I recommend Malwarebytes anti-malware program (mbam). This is extremely effective, but it's used to remove things rather than prevent them.by alainvey - Offtopic

Hi Melu, Congratulations on taking your first step into a bigger world... Anyway, You need a program called Gecko OS, which you can find on the Wiibrew wiki. The download should contain three files: boot.dol, icon.png, and meta.xml. Only boot.dol is necessary, but the others give it a pretty icon for the HBC and labelling (i.e. text info for the HBC). Take these files and put them in SDCby alainvey - Getting Started
Make sure you pick "standard" rather than "analog" controller type when loading the game.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
"Dip-IOS" in that context refers to the DIP module code used to patch IOS to read DVD-Rs (i.e for backup/warez loading purposes). "Dip-IOS", the program, means "Download, Install, Patch IOS" - its name was supposedly changed to "Dop-IOS" to prevent confusion, which has obviously not been successfully achieved.by alainvey - Offtopic
QuoteDanielHuehoQuoteSifJarNintendo didn't see the need to make the Wii's drive compatible with CDs because a CD would be too small for a Wii game, and they probably didnt want to have to pay for licensing for a CD player, like with DVD. Err, not really. Wii Sports, when dumped, is about 400MB of size... I think that hamster game is about 50MB, as well.by alainvey - Offtopic
There's almost no chance that most Expansion Pak games will work with the next release, also. Support for them will be added in as and when. The other options are to play the original game on an N64, or use another system to emulate it.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Yeah, it's pretty well known. I only play RPGs, so good button response is not a big issue for me, however.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Quotedaniel_c_wBecause the version number is part of the signature. If you change it, the pre installation signature check will fail. This. Thank you.by alainvey - Ideas, requests
Ha, I blitz my way through rpgs with the frameskip function, only to cry needily when I switch to a non-emulated one.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Why would Nintendo-signed content require use of the signing bug?by alainvey - Ideas, requests
Don't report issues present in the PC version here - go to the Snes9x forums to do that. That's annoying, though - my friend and I are playing through this at the moment. I'll have to do the fix on a pc.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
If the tutorials only demonstrate how to install and run warez launchers, without demoing the game content, then no copyright is violated, even if copyright violation is the aim. This is how I read scanff - I would be less eager to shoot him down, if I were you, since he knows what he's talking about.by alainvey - Offtopic
This game is amazing. I will play it always.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Quotedaniel_c_wQuotealainvey while the LU64 Wiis have certain other alterations designed to prevent IOS downgrading (which is generally used to permit cios/wad installation) Can you go into details? I'm not sure what they are, but I think the systems prevent IOSes with certain (i.e. low) version numbers being usable (not just installable). I can't remember where I read this, and I&by alainvey - The Junkyard
LU64+ Wiis and Wiis with a fixed boot1 are not the same thing. A patched boot1 just fixes the signing bug which was originally present and enables BootMii to be installed (i.e. the bug which accepts a modified/fakesigned boot2), while the LU64 Wiis have certain other alterations designed to prevent IOS downgrading (which is generally used to permit cios/wad installation). boot1 got patched soby alainvey - The Junkyard
Quotekydookay i got crash warped to work with a few graphical bugs that need some fixxing. that one was in a bin file. then i got spyro year of the dragon in a .img file and that one code dumps. thus psx beta 1 cannot play .img is there some way to convert .img -> bin. Removed - Too much information cIOSCORP does fuck with your wii in a big way, that's true, but it's not necessary. It's the other things which are most dangerous (downgrading, channels, themes etc.) and cause bricks. Still, it's a good deterrent to tell people that it's difficult. The point, as always, is legality and the threat which running unsigned code thereby alainvey - The Junkyard
It takes very little work, and does not fuck too much with your Wii. Compare this with XBOX360 drive flashing. However, it is illegal, and completely counterproductive to what Wiibrew's goals are - that's why it's not supported. The op seems to be under the impression that the people on this forum have no idea how to enable "waregames" (this word has a core of pure fail), andby alainvey - The Junkyard
Kydo: Due to the emulator's beta status, it is not entirely user-friendly, so don't worry about not getting it working without help. I'll start from the beginning to make sure you're doing everything right. First of all, make sure the emulator's .dol file is called "boot.dol" and is in SD:/apps/WiiSX/ (the name of that folder doesn't matter). Next, make sureby alainvey - Homebrew Applications
I was referring specifically to the front page. Updates for non Wiibrew-based applications are posted there all the time. The bits of less reliable news which get axed always amuse me (Galaxii Overflow, anyone?). Incidentally, try playing Tales of Destiny II and surviving the overclocked battles.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Also, is there a reason why the Wiisx Beta has not been added to the wiki? I guess I could do it, but I don't want to risk the ignominy of having it removed.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
