QuoteEvery homebrew app 'knows' it is written for Homebrew, and I believe used to look for the title of HAXX to switch back to when it exited. This has obviously now been changed, and so all the apps will need to be updated, and chances are this cycle will keep repeating with each Ninty update Vs Homebrew Update. What is the issue at hand here? I updatd the HBC and all my apps keep wby TheManuel - Homebrew General
I'm not afraid of Nintendo not fixing my Wii for free if I have Homebrew. I'm afraid of my Wii bricking in the first place, period. I made that comment under the assumption that the people that are getting their Wii's bricked had that happen because they had some sort of mod. Again, I'm not convinced there is evidence about virgin Wii's getting bricked. However, lby TheManuel - Homebrew General
Thanks, PhoenixTank. I'll probably hold out anyway until I have something to actually purchase (maybe the upcoming Worms game with online play capability). By then, either some safe update from Nintendo will have surfaced or I'll just take my chances with either, the official update or WSCU.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
QuotewolfennightsI was able to update safely to 4.2 after also updating Homebrew Channel, but upon learning about Wiis getting bricked even if they were not hacked, I became paranoid and deleted all my Homebrew. I had heard that if your Wii bricks and you don't have Homebrew, they repair it for free, so I just took that precaution in case it DID brick. But why bother deleting everything ifby TheManuel - Homebrew General
Is there any indication yet of what is causing the bricked Wii's after updating to 4.2? Somebody mentioned something about converted Korean region Wii's. Has anyone here in the forum updated safely to 4.2 while having the homebrew channel and/or BootMii installed? My guess is this is happening to Wii's that have been modified in some way or another despite what the posts areby TheManuel - Homebrew General
I'm with you. I'm awaiting a better update from Nintendo or some evidence to surface that the Wii's being bricked are units that had been tampered with pirating tools. I'm reluctant to modify my Wii with anything but Team Twizzer's tools.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications

Are you using the hq2x filter? That slows the emulator down (although I think it skips frames to compensate).by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Thanks jwalk. You understood my question correctly. By "old HBC" I meant loading the HBC from the system menu as had been the norm until BootMii was released. I suppose "old HBC" is a misnomer since it would be the same folder and files, only launched from within BootMii rather than the system menu, correct? I had considered your other alternative as well but did not know which one wasby TheManuel - BootMii Beta
Thanks metroid_maniac. I wonder why the instructions in the BootMii Readme recommend to store the back up in a card and store the card in a safe place when it's probably safer to just keep it in your PC with additional backups to DVD and other storage devices.by TheManuel - BootMii Beta
When I install BootMii, I woud still like to be able to use the old HBC, this is possible right? My strategy would be to keep the bootmii directory renamed to bootmiii or something like that so that, normally, my Wii would just boot up to the Wii menu and I could use the old HBC from there. I want BootMii for future protection but don't to be booting into it everytime I want to start myby TheManuel - BootMii Beta
Wow!. I had not posted in such a long time that I was actually signed out from the forum. I guess I have spent too much time actually playing the games... Anyway, if I backup my NAND, can I copy the backup file from my SD card to my PC for storage and then copy it back to any SD card if I need to back up or is the file forever tied to the specific SD card I used to create the backup? My WiFi router is 802.11g, indeed. On more recent, properly timed tests I've achieved close to 550kbps. It is what it is, I guess. It's still very useful for quick update of settings files, adding a few files here and there, etc. I still have to pull out the card for backing up and transfer of huge files which is OK.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Not to bash the application. I think it would be extremely useful but in my setup, it took me 4 minutes to transer a 32MB file from the Wii to my PC. When I tried to transer a 12MB file from the PC to the Wii, Windows predicted 6 minutes but timed out part-way through. Are there any tweaks that can be made?by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Does anyone know how to run the mission packs on Piko's last few updates of QuakeGX (0.6 through 0.8). In previous versions, you could select the mission packs from the command prompt that appeared before launching the game. Thanks.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Fair enough. I look forward to any of your future work, planned or not :-)by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
OK. At least I know it's not just me. Thanks.by TheManuel - Feedback & Support
Well, I should have asked rather if GNUBoy is planned to eventually get the graphics overhaul. I did not mean whether it was being worked on at the moment.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I have my e-mail set up correctly and I am subscribed to a bunch of posts but I never get any notifications. I have checked my junk mail folder too. Is this a known problem? Thanks.by TheManuel - Feedback & Support
Eke-eke: Is GNUBoy getting the GUI graphics overhaul that you are implementing on GenPlus?by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Hey, Piko. If the feature is implemented, how do you select the other mission packs (hipnotic and the other)?by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Are you using XP? It's actually less complicated than the route you have taken. 1. Right click on the folder you want to use as host. 2. Go to the Security tab and check "enable sharing on this folder" 3. Check "Share this folder on a network" 4. Give it a name in "share name" 5. Click OK In SNES9XGX's settings menu, fill out the fields: 1. IP: 192.168.0.100 (sometimes 192by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Thank you teknecal. I had not seen this post yet because I can't get the e-mail notifications to work. Anyway, it's been much faster lately. I only had it delay that much a few times at the beginning. Whatever you're doing is working great. Thank you for HBB. I wish it would do it's downloading while you are browsing. I like to load it up occasionally to see what's new but the wait deters me. That being said, it is a phenomenal application and the effort that teknecal puts behind it is much appreciated.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Over the last 5 days or so, when I start the Homebrew Browser, it gets stuck on the Linux command prompt at the step that says "Requesting Homebrew List". The first few days after I installed it, the application would load much faster. But now, sometimes, it stays at that screen for a minute or so, sometimes it loads normally and sometimes it just does not progress beyond it. Is anybody elseby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications

I went ahead and set these up yesterday: Latest Homebrew Releases Feed WiiBrew Latest News Feed It took me a long time to figure all out as I had never done it and they are very basic. For instance, I could not figure out how to set it up as a linkable title with a snnipet of the news item and showing the rest of the item when expaning the title. As indicated in another post, marcan from Team Twiizers has left the scene: qj.net Article That is regretable as Team Twiizers's are the only hacks I trust to run on my Wii. Hopefully the rest of the Team will be motivated to continue but I'm sure his contributions will be missed.
