I have noticed that almost all of the emulators overshoot the screen horizontally so that some text and graphics in the games get cut off. However, this does not seem to be the case with actual Wii or Gamecube games or even with the HBC and HBB. Has anybody else noticed or is this a problem with my TV? If I zoom out of the picture, I can get it to fit and see the missing graphics but I donby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I installed the app but it's just an interface as far as I can see. It could probably shed some light as to how to access the service without going throught the home page to someone with the know-how. I also tried last.fm and could not connect to the stations.by TheManuel - Homebrew General
Please hold my hand a little further; are you pointing to that applicaiton as a resource for information about how Pandora could be integrated into a Wii Media Player application?by TheManuel - Homebrew General
Thank you for the suggestion. I will give it a try from the Internet Channel tonight and see if it works. It might be that this alterantive is already there and I'm missing out...by TheManuel - Homebrew General
QuoteTantricJust to add to this, the incompatibility I've experience with my HDTV is it outputs all 240p lines without the spacing in between - so it looks "scrunched" in the top half of the screen. So, would you consider adding it, even if as a further sub-layer of the video options just for us poor souls still using CRT HDTV's and for everyone else that has gotten this mode to work?by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Well, you do know the functionality of capturing screenshots is already there, don't you? All you have to do is connect a USB keyboard and hit "Print Screen" when you are ready to take your snapshot. Then you go back to the system menu and right click on your Wiimote, which is accomplished by pressing the "B" button and select "Paste" from the context menu. Sorry for the bump but I tried accessing Pandora.com the other day through the Internet Channel and just got the "Out of Memory" error described elsewhere in this post. Pandora.com allows you to set up radio "stations" according to your music preferences. For each station you can specify one or more songs or artists and it will only play similar music (for the most part) on that station. Youby TheManuel - Homebrew General
QuotekkrolI had it nearly working, and then accidently reformated my sd card, so it was all lost. I am not going to redevelope it, because it was so hard for me, but i suggest someone else begin to make it. Ha, ha!!! This is the worst "dog ate my homework homework" story I've ever heard. This guy is clearly taking you for a ride, with all due respect. QuoteekeekeI would also love to hby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I know nobody asked my opinion but I think it sounds a bit subdued for a win sequence.by TheManuel - Coding
Well, I suspected the SD card as well but that did not seem to account for it. The download for Quake is about 16MB. Assuming the decompress image is 80MB and it took 10min to decompress (to be conservative), then data was being written to the SD card at 133kB/sec. The SD card is capable of writing dat much faster than this. Also, it took about a minute to make the download. Maybe the Wii isby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications

Is the decompressing phase when downloading an application through the HBB typically slow? I'm certainly not critizicing but rather want to make sure it is not due to something specific to my setup. Decompressing snes9xgx took probably 2-3 minutes if I remember correctly. Decompressing Quake took about 15 minutes. Thanks.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Well, you did use "did" and "said" in the same sentence which constitutes a redundancy... :-))by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
By the way, I tried your original mode in Gen Plus and indeed it is sharper than all the others even in my progressive scan TV. It would be nice if this option were available on the other emulators even if as part of an "advanced video options" menu, "change only if you know what your are doing". Although quite frankly, I need to study the image in detail from up close because it's probablby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Well, I'm now pretty sure the reason is the emulator is not running at full speed. At the beginning of the game when run towards the right it runs pretty jerky but when you eliminate the little animals crawling around the floor and ceiling, it runs smoother with the occasional hiccup which suggests to me it has less processing to do with only the Samus sprite being animated.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Hello. Is scrolling in Metroid Zero Mission jerky because the emulator can't run the game full speed on the Wii or is it a case where the video output is not synchronized to the display's refresh rate? Thanks.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Well, it's worth to ask ourselves how PC games or even Wii games do it nowadays to see it that approach can be used.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I understand. I will probably try it on my other TV just for kicks but, like you said, unfiltered unadjusted looks probably as good as it will ever look on an HDTV. Low resolution signals in general just don't look to well on HDTV's. Old games downloaded through Virtual Console don't look any better and I assume they have optimized the output as best as possible.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Is there any general interest or have there been discussions about enabling online play on emulated systems, kaillera style? It seems the potential is there and it would be really cool to face off against a friend on, say, the original Super Mario Kart.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Thanks again. 240p is what I have always wanted to set MAME to output to my TV in my cab but have not yet figured out how to do it (I have to play more with the custom video modes) Hmm, now you have piqued my interest on that "original" mode. Why is it not available in SNES9XGX with component cables but avaialable on the Genesis emulator? However, given that almost all commercial HDTV'by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Sure, I have done it too and it works but I'm wondering if this opens up the risk for maliciously constructed save files to brick your Wii and therefore be a risk.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
While on this subject, is it then unsafe to download save files from the internet from so many websites that do this and copy them to your Wii?by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
Thanks for the detailed response, ekeeke Quotehe means "original" mode but this option is probably disabled since you use component cable, right ? Yes. I output video through component to a progressive scan TV. I'll check genesis plus but the smaller image makes that mode less attractive. Quotetona@TheManuel: That's not the issue. He obviously got the save installed. I have no business giving advice on homebrew since I only installed it two days ago but, hey, I did tell him to try reformatting the SD card so maybe I go lucky :-)by TheManuel - Homebrew General

The other two easy ones to check: Did you have an old non-twilight-hack save file for Twilight Princess in the Wii already (had you played it). Accoring to the instructions, you must already have a save of the game even if it's going to be deleted. If all else fails, try re-formatting your SD card making sure to use the FAT file system and start over.by TheManuel - Homebrew General
I'm just getting started with emulators in the Homebrew Channel and I am facing the same conundrum as with console emulators for the PC in my home arcade machine. Both the NES and SNES use a video resolution of 256 x 224 (for most games anyway). I run my arcade machine at 640x480 for output to a TV through YPbPr video. Since the Wii outputs at 480p the games in NES and SNES emulators foby TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
I ran into this problem last night with VisualBoyAdvance GX after repeatedly loading a game and going back into the menu (I was playing around with the video options). I had to hold the power button down for a few seconds to reboot the Wii.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
How about pressing the power button for 5 seconds? That might force a hard shut down even while frozen. Then again, if your power cord is on convenient location, you might as well unplug it.by TheManuel - Homebrew Applications
