I second this request. I'm playing Battletoads, Ninja Gaiden, and Spelunker, and it's a hassle to constantly go into the menu to load a state (It crashed and went back to the HBC twice in an hour before the updates) However, I'm not sure how you can implement this if you have multiple states.by Mestizo - Homebrew Applications
Use Bannerbomb v2 (it works for the other Wii firmwares). If you wait until after you update, you may need to use DOP-IOS to install HBC. I updated to 4.2 from 4.0 when I got my Wii and installed HBC with no problems, same day I got it.by Mestizo - Getting Started
That was patched after the complaints went in. Nintendo can not and would not release a faulty update that's known to brick Wiis. If they did, they'd have to replace all affected Wiis, even the ones modded, for free. Anyway, as long as there's no tampering with how the system functions and you're confident you'll keep the power on, updating should be safe.by Mestizo - Getting Started
I got my Wii in December 2009, so boot2 wasn't an option (it came with 4.0U). And I'm sure my cousin wants the HBC for the same reason I have mine; the emulators, although all he wants to play is Super Mario Bros 3 and Sonic 2, so nothing's stopping him from getting them on the VC (except my aunt has no idea what her WEP key is, so I need to tamper with that). Anyway, should I bby Mestizo - Homebrew General
I only use Homebrew Channel to play emulators (I used GeckoOS in the past to play a Wii game with cheats and a custom version of Super Smash Bros Brawl, so those registered in the play log as "Homebrew Channel"). Is there something I should know of beforehand to prevent any problems with my Wii? I also downloaded some games from the Virtual Console, and I don't wanna spend the money to get tby Mestizo - Homebrew General
It wasn't the SD card. The other channels on it (VC and WiiWare games) loaded perfectly, and I checked the SD card on my computer, nothing wrong. It happened again recently. First, Snes9x locked when loaded. Immediately afterwards, Homebrew Channel locked after load, then a WiiWare game locked. Afterwards, the apps and other games loaded smoothly. Must've been a random glitch, sinceby Mestizo - Homebrew General
Affected emulators: FCE Ultra GX, Snes9x GX, VBA GX FCE Ultra GX: Spelunker: Main character's sprite spawns a line behind his head when walking. Fester's Quest: Shadows show up as flashing purple textures. Not sure if this happens in the game normally. I noticed it in the opening cinematic Snes9x GX: Main menu: Randomly crashes when accessing. Earthbound: Randomly locks when mby Mestizo - Homebrew Applications
I don't wanna tamper with the IOSs with the Wii. It started happening when I updated FCEU, Snes9x, and VBA. Odd thing is it also does it to Genesis Plus, and it only happened twice in one night. I also do not have DVDx or Netflix (no intention to watch movies on the Wii when I have a VCR/DVD player and PS2).by Mestizo - Homebrew General
No error at all. It loads Homebrew Channel just fine. It's just, after the app loads, 5% of the time, it's just nothing. The remotes and gamecube controllers do not respond, and neither does the Wii's reset or power button.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
After updating my NES, SNES, and GBA emulator (I didn't install IOS 202, since I don't plan on using DVDs for the Wii), 5% of the time when I load them up, there's just a black screen and nothing. The only way around it is to unplug the Wii and turn it back on. Is there a way to prevent this?by Mestizo - Homebrew General
QuoteekeekeWhat version are you using ? There shouldn't be any problem here if the wiimotes can be used in other emulators. If they don't, it means they are not properly synced (again, they must be synced permanently using the buttons on the Wiimotes and WIi) I don't understand, what do you mean exactly by "disabled" ? Normally you need to select each player (1,2,...) and selectby Mestizo - Homebrew Applications
All 3 of my remotes are synced up to my Wii. I tried that before, but the configuration of the first controller is disabled if I configure 2P. How can I make it so that 2 Classic Controllers are playable?by Mestizo - Homebrew Applications
I tried playing Streets of Rage 2 with a friend the other day. Both of us were using a Classic Controller each. Thing is, the emulator would only act as though one controller's plugged in. When I tried to fiddle with it, we got the 2nd controller to work, but not the 1st. How can I make it so that 2 controllers are playable? Well, I know some channels/games require Standby mode on (News, Forecast, Nintendo, etc), and I was interested in checking out the Nintendo Channel.by Mestizo - Getting Started
1. I've heard leaving it on with Standby mode on will fry the GPU, leaving to garbled images and "artifacts". Does this still happen? 2. Will leaving WiiConnect24 with Standby Mode have any ill effects on HBC?by Mestizo - Getting Started
It's against the law for the manufacturer to intentionally cause harm to their products because of a modification. There's NO WAY Nintendo would know you have the Homebrew Channel unless you either tell them you have it or you send it in for repairs. If the latter, all they will do is send you a brand new system with your other data to you and charge you for the repairs, even if in warrby Mestizo - Homebrew General
If you had the latest build of the HackMii install things (Homebrew Channel 1.0.6) using Bannerbomb v2, then those would have no effects put on them when updated.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
Nintendo's original idea for the USB ports on the Wii is for certain things, like: Remote chargers Cooling stations/fans Keyboards LAN adapters Microphones/instruments (Guitar Hero, Rock Band) Webcams (Some exercise games) etc I'm not that tech savvy, so I haven't tried hooking my Wii up directly to my computer, and if I could if I wish to, I don't want to risk it.by Mestizo - Getting Started
After you install the stuff you want with Bannerbomb, you can do what you want with the SD card. If you plan to reuse the same SD card, be sure to get rid of the Bannerbomb boot file and the HackMii's private folder, otherwise the Wii will lock up if you try to manage SD card channel/save data.by Mestizo - Getting Started
Did you have 4.1 or lower? It updated the System Menu, eliminating the Homebrew Channel. Just run Bannerbomb v2, and you should have the HBC back.by Mestizo - Getting Started
Well, as for playability, I've noticed something odd in a few games: Bionic Commando (NES): Freezes at a grey screen Super Metroid (SNES): Loading the emulator menu randomly crashes after saving in-game Mother 3 (GBA, translation patch) Audio skips from time to time. Only a hindrance in battle, as it needs rhythm in combat. Alladin (SNES): Either I'm too good, or the game plays toby Mestizo - Homebrew General
I use my HBC to play NES, SNES, Genesis, and Gameboy games, even ones available on the Virtual Console. Is there any benefit/downfall to playing emulators VS the Virtual Console? As far as I know, the VC games are just direct roms from the older iterations of the games (for example, in the NES Super Mario Bros, there's the Minus World glitch, which is still available in the VC version, but rby Mestizo - Homebrew General
It'll install a new revision of boot2 and 4.2, if you don't already have it. It'll overwrite BootMii, but you can easily re-install it. I did the install of New Super Mario Bros Wii, and my homebrew still works. If you have a modchip in your Wii, that's the only way it'll brick it. If you have 4.2 and homebrew channel, neither will be changed.by Mestizo - Getting Started
Is the private folder for Bannerbomb, and have nothing else in it? Is it Bannerbomb v2 and Hackmii Installer v 0.6? The boot.elf has to be in the root of the memory cardby Mestizo - Getting Started
Only way you can brick your Wii through homebrew is if you try to install WADs or alter the flash memory if you don't know what you're doing. For the older games, I recommend getting some emulators. Installation is included on their pages. Here's a list of current emulators. That's all I use my HBC for, though. For DVDs and stuff, I have a PS2 and an actual DVD playby Mestizo - Getting Started
Ok, I installed the update, I still have HBC. I tested it by loading up the NES emulator and Battletoads. It only froze for a second before leaving the emulator, but it's good now.by Mestizo - Getting Started
I do have 4.2U, and the game is still asking for an update. Will I lose HBC if I update through the disc?by Mestizo - Getting Started
I already said I'm at 4.2 U with just the HBC.by Mestizo - Getting Started
I've heard of some arguements between NSMBW and the Homebrew Channel. I currently have 4.2U with the HBC installed (just that, not BootMii/DVDx), and I was planning on getting NSMBW. Is it safe to load it from the Disk Channel with 4.2U?by Mestizo - Getting Started
Doesn't Gecko OS also skip the update on a disc? Like, playing New Super Mario Bros Wii on a 4.0 Wii?by Mestizo - Getting Started
