I've noticed that the Gecko OS page is still on 1.9.2. Then I came across this: Gecko OS 1.9.3 Their Google Code page doesn't have it. Is this an official release? I edited the Other Downloads section to have this version because I wasn't sure.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew Applications
Well it still looks relatively the same. The PC graphical glitches still appear relatively the same as Wii64 graphical glitches. Still I know Wii64 is still in the prototyping stage. Also simplicity doesn't mean good. Sometimes something more complicated can produce better results. I know the source for the plug-ins are optimized for PC but maybe for the more complex stuff to port you neeby wildgoosespeeder - Ideas, requests
QuoteekeekeQuoteI'm just saying why port Mupen64, a pathetic N64 emulator, and not Project64, the best N64 emulator out there? QuoteThe Wii64 I downloaded is a piece of crap. On the Homebrew Browser app it is rated 2/5. Doesn't that say something? In my opinion, those are clearly disrespectful comments, that does not help in starting a polite and constructive discussion. Hey, ekeeke was being disrespectful to me. You are the moderator Arikado! I would have expected better from you. I would have expected you to not promote ekeeke's behavior. Just because some knows loads more about Wii programming doesn't mean that they have the right to act like a jerk to those who know less. There is no "loading" of the FDS BIOS. If the file is detected when you open an FDS game through FCE Ultra GX, you will know if you can play. ;)by wildgoosespeeder - The Junkyard
There could be some issues with some of the games because not all aspects that make those games work properly are properly emulated. Check this list: Compatibility Listby wildgoosespeeder - Getting Started
QuoteHman360wildgoosespeeder, you are right and thank you for understanding my question. ekeeke, you need to calm down. We are not trying to insult the authors of the program in any way. Quoteekeeke This is disrespectful in the way you are asking developpers to drop something they put a lot of time/effort in because it does not meet your PC emulation standard and you persist at thinking you know better what they should do, when you obviously have no clue about programming... So I can't express my opinion in fear of offending the coders? A suggestion is not an insult, itby wildgoosespeeder - Ideas, requests
This thread is a matter of opinion. The developers don't have to switch now. This is why this thread is in the ideas board. I don't know where you get off saying this thread disrespects the coders. This is more of a suggestion than it is criticism. Also you tend to underestimate what the Wii can do. What you said was is that if the developers decide to switch to Glide64 that the games wby wildgoosespeeder - Ideas, requests
QuoteekeekeYou do realize those plugins are specifically designed to work with computers graphic cards and API, do you ? Don't' you still understand that the developpers of Wii64 know exactly what they are doing, that they obviously already know about the different N64 plugins that exist out there and that they probably ported gl64 for a good reason ? You need the disksys.rom file placed in sd:\fceugx for FDS games to work. The file will not be supplied here. Search for it on Google or something.by wildgoosespeeder - The Junkyard
Quotecactusjack901The NES BIOS isn't in the emulator, it is merely simulated Ah, that makes sense.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew Applications
Well Glide64 (Napalm WX release) has support for hi-res textures, the same way that Rice Video uses it.by wildgoosespeeder - Ideas, requests
Yet I believe the NES and Famicom have a BIOS too and yet that is built-in the emulator correct? If so, why can't the Famicom Disk System BIOS be built-in too? I know it's copyrighted as mentioned here but the NES and Famicom are also copyrighted.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew Applications
Yeah I just noticed that. I guess I'll check that out later.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew Applications
The only reason I doubted Wii64 in the first place was because the alpha release I couldn't play N64 games at all. Then I looked at the details of Wii64, found out that it was a port of Mupen64, and I figured that the Mupen64 source code was to blame for the failure since there are some problems with Mupen64 source code compiled. The beta release of Wii64 is better because I am able to playby wildgoosespeeder - Ideas, requests
As I said I had that placed in the correct folder but still can't play FDS games. I was able to do this before. I think the 3.0.9 version update doesn't allow it to be used for whatever reason.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew Applications
For FCE Ultra GX, I have the disksys.rom installed in the right place and still I can't play the games. Is it a bug with the emulator, is it the disksys.rom, or is it me?by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew Applications
@Aruskano Ah, screw that post. Delete it. Whatever. I posted it somewhere else.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew General
QuotewildgoosespeederI found a downgraded version 1.9.1 and that works fine. Well that's what I did before I created this topic and that worked. What I'm wondering is if the creators can update Gecko OS 1.9.2 so that what it can run on all versions of the Wii Menu or at least add 4.2 to be compatible.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew General
Yeah, just a blank screen after The Homebrew Channel exits after selecting the app. I don't want to mod my Wii if that is a solution. I'm hoping for an update to the program.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew General
Gecko OS 1.9.2 does not work on Wii Menu 4.2. I found a downgraded version 1.9.1 and that works fine. My only guess is that the Wii Menu 4.2 changes the cIOS and according to the Gecko OS changelog, "If necessary, cIOS will be used for channel loading"by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew General
Yeah I seem to be getting problems with loading a certain app too. I know it's not The Homebrew Channel but maybe it is (1.0.5). I think it is Gecko OS 1.9.2 trying to run on the new Wii Menu 4.2.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew General
Perhaps I underestimated Wii64. Before they released Wii64 beta 1, I was a doubter. Now I like what they have done with it. Only problem, why are they using the source code from glN64 to emulate the graphics? The graphics are looking bad on some of the games. Use Glide64 because I have a pretty decent graphics card on my laptop and the graphics are nearly perfect! Since the Wii uses ATI graphics,by wildgoosespeeder - Ideas, requests
OK, now I can't wait for a 1.0.4 Homebrew Channel. Well my only complaint with the 1.0.3 version was no automatic loading and unloading of the SD card if it was inserted and not inserted respectively. Hopefully that will be integrated in future releases that The Homebrew Channel will detect changes with the SD card slot.by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew General
QuotewolfennightsWhat do most of you use the Homebrew Channel for, anyway? I use the Homebrew Channel mainly to cheat in Wii games, emulate NES and SNES games, use Homebrew Browser to try out various Homebrew applications, and WiiXplorer to edit data on the SD card so that way I don't have to connect it to my computer to edit. Don't get me wrong with cheating, playing online I'by wildgoosespeeder - Homebrew General
Well does the HackMii installer work on 4.2? Also I wanted to try the smashstack public beta but having problems registering on that site to download it. Can anybody upload it for me?
