I don't know why some people will get this error message on a virgin Wii, and some won't. The issue is most likely that the data directory does not exist in NAND for that game, nor has the game's title ID been added to uid.sys. Therefore, the system menu can't properly assign ownership of the savefile. It might even be sufficient to put the Zelda disc in once, let theby bushing - Homebrew General
QuotecomexQuotebushingFWIW, the only time I've actually heard of a "hard" banner brick was when a banner was *almost* valid, but had an MD5 mismatch. Wait, what? Why would the menu read a file with a bad hash? Wrong hash. I'm not talking about a SHA1 content hash that's in a TMD -- these are never verified after installation, anyway (c.f. Starfall). There is also an "IMD5"by bushing - Homebrew General
3.3 is bad. 3.4 is bad. 2.0 is old enough that some stuff won't work (or rather, you won't have later versions of IOS automatically installed.) Anything in between is all the same, as far as homebrew is concerned.by bushing - Homebrew General

Yes, we would rather people not make WADs of any of our software. We need to get around to making a DVDX installer, yes. Go bug marcan. :)by bushing - Homebrew Applications
not sure what you mean by "data trick", but you're unlikely to stumble upon it accidentally.by bushing - Software
Probably -- I would assume that the permissions set on directories would prevent you from doing that. However, assumptions here have often been wrong. :)by bushing - Software
There are two different challenges here: 1) Come up with a good, standardized format for patches. I don't know what the "codes" look like, anyone have a link? 2) Apply patches from an SD card in an appropriate manner. I don't really care for the Starfall approach, but that's mostly a matter of taste and for many people it works pretty well.by bushing - Software
This was recently resolved. What are you trying to do?by bushing - Software
Yes. The updated HBC installer will fix this. Error -2011 is "signature verification failed" -- see http://wiibrew.org/wiki//dev/es.by bushing - Homebrew General
If you want to take it apart, the problem is almost certainly that the Bluetooth card in the front of the device has come loose. You could take the whole thing apart, unplug it, and plug it back in -- this would probably fix it. However, if the Wii doesn't show any signs that you've dropped it, I'd just send it in for warranty service. Nintendo barely even looks at the Wiis beby bushing - FixMii
Either one of the Semi-Brick fix discs, or a disc with the AnyRegion Changer on it, yes.by bushing - FixMii
Really, the way to do this is to extend MIOS, so I'm moving this to the IOS forum.by bushing - Software
Sometimes; it depends on the permissions set by the game that created the savefile. What exactly are you trying to do? Be specific.by bushing - Homebrew General

No, IOS is what verifies the signature on an object (ticket or TMD) when you try to install it. That is to say, you need to present IOS with a signature ("fake" or otherwise) when calling ES_AddTicket, ES_AddTitleTMD or ES_AddTitleStart.by bushing - Software
You need to get us the contents of that error, if you want us to do anything about it. Try taking a picture of the screen (but make sure we can actually read the numbers.)by bushing - Homebrew Applications
QuoteSpaceJumpThis didn't help: for(int pause = 0; pause < 150; pause++){ } What exactly does WPAD_GetStatus() return? When I try to printf it, I get errors. "errors"?by bushing - Coding
QuoteiofthestormIHowever, the mention of JVM makes me think maybe he meant writing a JVM for the Wii? That would be decidedly not useless, but probably a huge pain and not worth it. Go back and reread the first post. It explicitly refers to JavaScript.by bushing - Coding
Yeah, I've actually had a less-than-pleasant exchange with a Nintendo executive about the matter. I wouldn't waste your time :(by bushing - Feedback & Support
WiiCrazy has a good point. In theory, a Starfall-patched system menu would let you recover from the Opera error. However, the only way you end up with the full-brick "Opera error" case is immediately after installing a new version of the System Menu. If you do that, it will have overwritten the patches that Starfall made.by bushing - FixMii
We told you not to upgrade to 3.4 (or 3.3); you (or your little sister) did anyway. You're not a bad person, but your life will be more difficult. Discuss.by bushing - Homebrew General

Please do not use generic subjects like "Just curious..." or "Gecko OS question" or "A couple of questions" -- it makes it much harder to sort through the list of posts to find the ones that interests me. I'm going to start editing generic subject lines to make them more clear. See, e.g. http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#bespecificby bushing - Homebrew General
