This doesn't really belong in the IOS board, but no. There are homebrew installs for all newer updates. Although it's probably recommended updating from a disc with v3.2 on (Think Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, and SSBB)by whodares - The Junkyard
QuoteAzachealMany posts i read are preaching about downgrading the firmware to 3.3 but why? HBC has a 3.4 version so what's the problem? DVDX was blocked with the v3.4 update, which meant using mediaplayers and emulators that read from the DVD drive stopped functioning. Aside from that, the only other failures I am aware of are with pirate related tools, and that's no big loss. Quoteby whodares - Homebrew General
If you go to the command line and type "PATH" and press enter, you should get something that looks a bit like this: PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;.... Check that C:\devkitPro\devkitPPC\bin exists in the list. If it doesn't, you can add it by- 1. Right click on My Computer 2. Click Properties 3. Click Advance Tabs 4. Click Environment Variables 5. Couple of things to check. 1. In the PowerPC Bin folder in your DevKitPro install, check that powerpc-gekko-objcopy exists 2. Check the PowerPC Bin folder is in your "path"by whodares - Offtopic
Actually, you're presentation at 25C3 made more sense about altering the data so the first byte is null. Does the strcmp from the Wii check lengths as well? I would assume so, and if it does, you still need to get the second byte on the real hash to equal 0. Is that really what Datel did? Hmmm, maybe they found an easy way to get the 2nd byte of the hash to 0. Otherwise it wouldn'by whodares - Software

Actually, going through the slides corrected how I believed the fakesigning worked. In hindsight, I don't know how what I was thinking could of ever worked. Two things: My non-Wii project is currently taking priority, and I'm having doubts whether to continue this project anyway. QuoteiofthestormVista rocks unless you mess something up My friend bought a machine with Vista installed and brought it around my house to help him configure it. Quotefreeballerbut the wad files and loader are giving me issues The only legal WADs you can talk about on this site are the ones you've taken off the update partition of a Wii Disc. These are generally IOS, and the System Menu. All other WAD talk is frowned upon.by whodares - The Junkyard

I'm assume he's referring to MultiMedia Cards (kinda like SD cards). The Wii only has an SD slot, and the Twilight hack doesn't load DOLs from the USB port (AFAIK)by whodares - Homebrew General
No, downgrading is basically installing an older version of IOS over your existing IOS installs. It won't affect anything already installed on your Wii. Edit: Regarding the automatic updates, I'm not sure anybody has figured out how it's working. So it's possible the downgrade may not actually stop it.by whodares - Homebrew General
