No joke. Talk about problems you've had with vista or any other computer. Also, are we allowed to post non-wii related things in offsubject? If not, then delete thisby strongfan - Offtopic
Is there going to be an update anytime soon? I REALLY wanna cheat on my virtual console games!by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
I hate when people say that an it can't be done because it's an interpreted language! Just because it's an interpreted language, doesn't mean you can't write a compiler for it!by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
QuoteDimensionWarpedI do believe a functioning home menu that actually mimics the feel and function of the real one would benefit basically every app. Trying to force standards on amateur programmers and enthusiasts though is kind of doomed to failure. Perhaps a set of suggested guidelines and resources to meet those guidelines however would not be. It would be nice to have a set of librarieby strongfan - Homebrew General
I was thinking, it seems kinda odd how there aren't generic things that are found in every homebrew. You know how most Nintendo apps have the homebutton menu? Or how on PCs programs that allow you to open a file come with some sort of standard file browser? That's kind of what I'm getting at. For example, there are a bunch of Wii apps that browse the SD card's file sysby strongfan - Homebrew General
oh... just out of curiosity, why is the HBC exempt? Does it use a different "banner"?by strongfan - Homebrew General
YES!!!!!!!! And since it appears to be open source, we can add all the stuff we want to it! This is going to be great once he's finished with the basic design!by strongfan - Homebrew General
I was wandering... would it be possible for someone to write a PC app that would make an ELF of a DOL into a WAD file? This would be good for a variety of reasons! There is already WADit, but that's in german and it doesn't even work yet, and probably won't ever. It would allow you to choose a PNG file for the Icon as well as music/sound effects in the form of an mp3 file. Howby strongfan - Homebrew General
Quotenoobwarrior7how about a philips CD-i emulator, its remote is just like a smaller wiimote without motion sensing, and it has a fairly nice library, plus I can't imagine its much trickier to emulate than anything else. this. I've been trying to emulate cd-i on my PC, but the only two emulators out there only play Rise of the Robots and the other doesn't recognize any ROMs I thrby strongfan - Homebrew General
Hmm... updated DS... sound familiar? *cough cough* wii/gamecube*cough cough*by strongfan - Homebrew General
seems like they've fixed some problems with dynaric recompiler mode, according to yesterday's update. I hope that now they release a beta soon!by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
I don't see why this wouldn't work, as we already have emulators that load ROMs off of USB drives. Why not DOL files?by strongfan - Homebrew General
Piracy is illegal and evil unless you cannot obtain it any other way.by strongfan - The Junkyard
This one should be relatively easy to run homebrew on, given the SD port! We just need to find a hack and then we're off! Is it just me, or is the DS-i alot like the Wii? I bet it's just the wii but in DS casing! Either that, or it's CD-i :pby strongfan - Homebrew General
Wishlist: No onscreen keyboard for those who have a USB keyboard(so that you can edit stuff and highlight it and whatever) Tabbed browsing Java support. Maybe flash of some kind Copy/Past/Cut functions Add Gamecube Controller support It you press "enter" on the USB keyboard while in a search box, it will act as if you hit "search"by strongfan - Homebrew General
Now THAT is a good idea! And my main idea hear is that if we make our own, then it would be easier to improve it to fit our needs, rather than Nintendo making one or two versions and then abandoning it all together.by strongfan - Homebrew General
if you think you can use BASIC on the Wii at all, let alone Visual BASIC, then you are probably not ready to program on the Wii. Unless I misinterpreted your post, in which case I apolgize. Either way, you need a C++ compiler, and some knowledge of C++.by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
@whodares: Dude, I'm on the internet channel all the time, and I know every single bug, design flaw, and error. I can tell you about the scrolling glitch, the upside-down cursor glitch, the favorites glitch, and the network error. Let me give you a rundown of every problem: If you use the USB keyboard to type something and you put the Wiimote down, the cursor is upside-down and it takes fby strongfan - Homebrew General
It appears that it isn't. That makes me wonder how Nintendo got it. Maybe we could port another Open Source browser! Perhaps... google chrome? If not, then we could write our own web browser! The first thing that we would need to do is t make an HTML interpreter or use Webkit. Then all we need to do is to use an internet lib to request a page from a server so that we can display it, anby strongfan - Homebrew General
Yeah, the game is based more on humor than actual game. It's more of a gimmick toby strongfan - Offtopic
Why don't you try it yourself? I'm no bushing, but I think that it won't work because the disks in question may be CDs; not DVDs. The Wii's lens can only read DVDs. It doesn't matter if your lens it dirty, you cannot read CDs with the Wii; that would require modding your Wii. But yes, it IS true that if your lens is dirty, you can't read double layer disks.by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
It seems like they're having trouble with libdi, according to the "updates" section. And I am aware of the difference between compiler and interpreter. I just wish they would actively release new versions as they add new features; with ever improvement they make, they should release it as soon as they compile it.by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
Anything other than the internet channel is fine with me!by strongfan - Homebrew General
QuoteWilliaintPointless, Yes, but a lot of people enjoy this kind of customization. I'm sure it would be popular, albeit it's uselessness. correctionby strongfan - Homebrew General
I doubt it has been suggested before. It would be relatively pointless, aside for showing off the power of hacks. There are three ways one could go about doing this. One would be... a hacked IOS? Another would be hooking up a USB gecko and using a cheat on the Wii Menu to change the color of the Menu. And finally, one could write a homebrew app that acts like the Wii menu but with the aforemby strongfan - Homebrew General
there ARE some disks with something called "Auto Boot" that boots the disk before the Menu, but that, in theory, requires a hacked IOS or drivechip; both of which could easily hack your Wii.by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
hm... why don't you open up your gamecube and find out?by strongfan - Offtopic
you wait until now to tell me this?! Why doesn't he release a beta version?by strongfan - Homebrew Applications
QuotewhodaresThere are plenty of variants of BASIC, and I agree, some only had GOTO and GOSUB (which are what functions technically are anyway). QBASIC/QuickBASIC definately had them QuoteArikadoSo you're gonna do all that work just to make and play text applications or primitive graphics applications? Why do you assume you'll only be able to do "primitive graphics" in BASIC? Iby strongfan - Offtopic
QuotewhodaresIntel x86 so, I'm assuming assembly is different for every computer. Dang! wait- then how can programs be compiled at all if assembly is different for each computer? EG: A program that is compatible with windows XP and Vista(like you would ever use vista anyway)by strongfan - Homebrew General
