Basically, as long as you aren't messing around with IOSes or are trying to install things which write to the NAND (e.g., priiloader), the chances of bricking it are almost nonexistent. If anyone else has anything to add, feel free to comment!by Sonicdude41 - Wii U - Wii Mode
The partition I put it on is already FAT32. D:by Sonicdude41 - Getting Started
I have a 1TB HDD that I use for just about everything (school, music, backups of computer data, etc.), including my apps. Well, for the first few months that I had it, the HBC (v1.0.8) would have no trouble reading from it -- everything would work as it was supposed to. Lately, however, it's almost as if it's invisible now. I verified that the file hierarchy is correct, as well aby Sonicdude41 - Getting Started
Considering that Nintendo removed the required software for Sudokuhax to function, is there a way that something similar to JailbreakMe could be implemented?by Sonicdude41 - Offtopic

As expected, it worked and he can load the System Menu normally again. This can be finally put to rest. :Dby Sonicdude41 - FixMii
Well, we installed a new System Menu and its corresponding IOS, and unfortunately, THAT failed. Since we've nearly gone through everything available to us, I'm willing to bet that it's Message Board data corruption, as a previous user mentioned. Why? Well, he can access Maintenance Mode, which we know disables Message Board functionality. Since this is the case, wouldn'by Sonicdude41 - FixMii
Thank you for pointing that out. :P Well, based on that, either he used the 4.3 updater or the Wi-Fi module is probably defunct -- only way to know that is to find out if he can still connect to the internet. EDIT: I seem to fail at rereading.by Sonicdude41 - Homebrew General
Did you run a 4.2 "safe" updater at any point in time prior to this? If so, that may be the problem. If I recall correctly, it prevents you from updating officially, though I'm probably wrong.by Sonicdude41 - Homebrew General
You wouldn't happen to have Preloader/Priiloader, would you? If so, use that to install the DOP-Mii .dol with the Install File feature and repatch IOS36. If that fails, reinstall all IOSes and the System Menu.by Sonicdude41 - FixMii
I'm guessing that it got corrupted somehow, since you say that you can't load the HBC and some games. What version of the System Menu are you on? If you are on 4.2 or lower, you can use Bannerbomb to attempt to load homebrew. Using that, you can load DOP-Mii and attempt to patch IOS36 again.by Sonicdude41 - FixMii
When I was told about how he had bricked with the 4.3 "safe" updater (lol safe), I had no clue I would be in for a rough time. We initially noticed that it would boot the Recovery Menu instead of the System Menu. From there, we were able to make note of the System Menu version (which was 4.1U). Our first thought was that the fail updater installed, but the IOS was missing, so it was from heby Sonicdude41 - FixMii

If you're looking to update the Shop Channel, WiiSCU v0.24 will do the trick. When you run it, just scroll down to the Shop Channel, and make sure you choose v19, as that is the latest version available. Hit Go, and you should be set when it finishes! :D This is entirely safe, btw. I can verify this because I did it just the other day.by Sonicdude41 - Getting Started
Why not grab an Ubuntu ISO from the official website and use GParted to manage partitions? It's served me well, and I'm sure it will do the same for you. :) Either this, or download the GParted LiveCD.by Sonicdude41 - Offtopic
QuoteAobxNot long ago SifJar was telling me Trucha Bug Restorer uses a so simple exploit, that Nintendo could do half-dozen things to prevent it. Too bad they finally realized it. Anyway, Ninty isn't known for the best protection on the block, so it wouldn't be surprising if they slipped somewhere. According to Wiibrew, one of the fixes is "NANDFS privilege escalation fixed ". QuoteSifJarYeah go ahead, it should work. Make sure you use v0.22, rather than v0.23, which has the Shop Channel version hardcoded as a "fix" for a problem I'm not sure ever truly existed. (I added v0.23, because people complained 0.22 didn't work, but when I released 0.23 many claimed 0.22 worked after all). I'm able to use WiiSCU to update the Shop Channel, correct? Is it even recommended at this point?by Sonicdude41 - Homebrew General
I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo was peeking at what is essentially the heart of the Wii scene. All we really need to know is what else was broken and what wasn't, but the entry for 4.3 seems to outline it. But don't kick yourself too hard for updating -- Nintendo usually doesn't make a PSA when it comes to such things.by Sonicdude41 - Homebrew General
Team Twiizers is responsible for the HackMii Installer, so we'll have to wait on them to update it -- which means we have to play the waiting game. Yeah, luckily I haven't updated yet. I didn't receive the message from Nintendo either since I had WC24 off. But from what I've read, it's a pretty nasty update. Is there anything else that you could test?by Sonicdude41 - Homebrew General

Yeah, as I've been saying, it looks nasty. Now it seems to spit out Error 004 when attempting to load homebrew. :S Let's hope TT can overcome this one.by Sonicdude41 - Offtopic

I don't have either. I'm guessing I'll need to somehow patch in ES_Identify into one of my IOSes. Would it help if I posted the installer.log file?by Sonicdude41 - Homebrew Applications
So, after buying another SD Card today and making a NAND backup with BootMii, I thought about trying StartPatch. Well, when I load the app, it asks me for the IOS that I'd like it to use. That's where I mentally run away screaming and exit the app. So, before I do ANYTHING at all that could screw me over, what IOS should I choose for StartPatch to load?by Sonicdude41 - Homebrew Applications
I have been wondering the exact same thing. I mean, we've got the tools available to take advantage of every piece of the Wii's hardware, and it seems like it's just... there. I would love to see some apps take advantage of the MINI toolchain. I don't care what it's purpose is -- any app that demonstrates just how much control we have over the Wii would be awesome.by Sonicdude41 - Offtopic
Quotejbc007I believe this is normal since it happens to me too. Oh, okay. If this is the case, then I guess I'll have to make it a habit to take out the SD Card when playing a GC game.by Sonicdude41 - BootMii Beta
