Not unless one of three things happens: 1. I find a new exploit to install (which will be unlikely) 2. Team Twiizers tell me their undisclosed exploit 3. Somebody else finds a new exploit The only things my channel creation set will use that are not coded by myself will be the libogc, and possibly marcan's NAND loader if he permits me to use it. If not, I'll be coding my own NANDby whodares - Homebrew General
QuoteAerialXAlthough I know you've seen this already... orly? Cool, I hadn't seen this, looks ace! QuoteAerialX QuotewhodaresEverybody's interests are different. Be that as it may, it's true that there aren't that many original games out there yet. From a gaming perspective, besides ports and emulators, there are only a handful of games they'd want to play. Thanks WiiCrazy, that will be really useful. I've not done much hacking of the System Menu yet, so I guess when I come to writing my SysMenu patches I'll be giving you a shout ;-)by whodares - Homebrew General
May I suggest a little experiment for you to try? 1. Grab a copy of FS Browser from 2. Navigate to the /title/00010001 folder 3. Identify your VC games against this list - (Update this list if you have some games which aren't already on there). 4. Go into your game folders, and use the 1 button to copy the game's contents to your SD card 5. Between each game, reboot the Wii andby whodares - Homebrew General
Everybody's interests are different. New software takes time to develop, especially when you've got to reverse engineer Nintendo code, and you need to do a fair bit of testing if there is a potential for bricking. Plus, you're always welcome to contribute somethingby whodares - Offtopic

QuotestrongfanNintendo sucks at emulation Hmmm, are Nintendo writing the emulators? I'm pretty sure Commodore Gaming wrote the C64 one. Anyway, they do the purpose they have been designed for, so you can't call them bad. As for injecting, I can cite several reasons why they might not work: 1. Nintendo and/or the authors of the emulators explicitly added something to the emulator toby whodares - Homebrew General
Well when I get to my channel installer, I won't be using the WAD format, I'll be using a custom format. The only trouble with your suggestions are that if we were to write a banner preview tool for the homebrew channel, then we'll have to do it from what we know about the banner file formats. This means that if any of the current unknowns have specific purpose, our display might sby whodares - Homebrew General
I think strongfan is refering to using something like Trucha Signer to get a Wii disc image, editing the contents with a new channel banner, and burning it to a DVD. This means you can stick the disc in to try the banner, but if it crashes the Wii, then you can remove the disc and your Wii will be fine @WiiCrazy: Yeah, I'm kinda waiting for BootMii before I start testing any of this stuffby whodares - Homebrew General
@strongfan: I actually remember somebody releasing a GeckoOS/Ocarina cheat (or maybe it was something else) which changed the filenames of the banners that the wii loaded up to "zanner.bin", which is perfect for testing. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I found it :-(by whodares - Homebrew General
404 is a HTTP response declaring that the page is missing from the server. So if this would be a file on your Wii's NAND, then you've lost some files off the NAND. If you're just browsing the internet, the webpage you went to has either moved or been removed. I believe (but not 100% sure) that some of the Wii menus and possible the EULA are html files, which the webbrowser wouldby whodares - FixMii
Did you actually read the ReadMe.txt? Like, under the "Installation instructions" section? Also, before posting, you could try searching this forum, I know for a fact this question has already been asked once recently:by whodares - Homebrew General

I'm sure I've seen this question before, and I don't think you'll get any good news from around here. Even though you may own the original discs, there's just too much risk for abuse by pirates. In short, you will not find such a tool here, ever...by whodares - The Junkyard
I personally can't see a point in that, but if you wish to discuss it, please create another thread. This one is about making channels and banners.by whodares - Homebrew General
Have you ever used Micromedia Flash? or whatever it's called these days. It's like that. Rather than having a bunch of full-rendered frames, you bring in several images, and the brlan files will tell the system menu where to draw each image, including any rotation, scaling, and alpha adjustments on each frameby whodares - Homebrew General
@DrLucky: Yes, you'll need Photoshop or some other graphics package to produce your images. As for the moving banners, I've already covered that: QuotewhodaresYes, animation stuff will be added at some point (hopefully).by whodares - Homebrew General
@DrLucky: Nope, it'll all be perfectly legal, providing you use your own graphics for the banners of course ;-) @daniel_c_w: Thanks for the offer, but I can't think of anything at the minute.by whodares - Homebrew General

Quotedaniel_c_w Some questions, because I am curious: Doesn't RGB5A3 use 18 bits? That sounds odd to me. Why do you need to handle RGBA anyway? Doesn't the Wii use YUV? RGB5A3 is technically two different graphic formats in 1... RGB555 and RGB4A3. If the MSB (most significant bit) is set (=1), then the 16 bits equate to RGB4A3 (4 bits for each colour and a 3 bit alpha), otherwiseby whodares - Homebrew General
Yes, animation stuff will be added at some point (hopefully). I need to fix my RGBA8 and RGB5A3 decoders first. My RGB5A3 decoder is really odd. I get odd colours out, but while some show the correct image, others are skewed. The banner tools may be ready for Christmas, but not sure about the Homebrew Channel Packager. :-) Edit: Fixed the skew on RGB5A3, still get the colour issues thoughby whodares - Homebrew General
Technically, you wouldn't "emulate" WiiWare and VC games, as they are already designed to run on the Wii. You're almost there, to create SNES9X, they did need to research all the technical aspects of the machine, then write some code which would read SNES code and produce native code for the machine the emulator runs on. Also, if you don't already own (as in "purchased") theby whodares - Homebrew Applications
Neither are my tools. After I've finished the banner tools, I'll be creating creating an installer and some sort of packaging system so you can bundle up any homebrew with a banner and install it as a channel. But that's quite a distance off yet... Edit: Cool, I've just finished my RGB565 decoder. Next on to the I4... These are the only 2 formats I've seen so far, butby whodares - Homebrew General
Ahh, gotcha. Thanks. I've managed to code a .NET app that will strip apart U8 and LZ77 files, just working on converting TPL to bitmaps. Then will be on to brylt and brlan imports. At this point, I should have a channel renderer, and then I'll start on the editors, and finally, the repackaging code :-)by whodares - Homebrew General
I remember looking at that, I assumed it didn't need one, because I was (incorrectly) thinking the System Menu is what launched content (despite the fact I had written homebrew which loads VC games, doh!). Quick question: How does the IOS know which content file is the booting DOL? Does it just look for the first DOL with an entry/load point of 0x3400?by whodares - Homebrew General
QuotebushingQuoteNeoRezSigh, my cousin decided to "help" me while I was gone by updating my wii shop channel. I have the homebrew channel beta 9, but I can't use the wad manager. Thanks marcan It's interesting you should mention the boot stub. When I was looking at all the channels on my Wii, I noticed that the first item was always the banner, the 2nd was the main channel DOL, then any data respositories, and always at the end was the NANDLoader. Except in the HBC case, which just seemed to have 2 parts. I need to convert your LZ77 code to .NET so I can decompby whodares - Homebrew General

QuotebushingQuotewhodaresIf you are using Muzzer's or Tona's tools to install IOS51 and the new shop channel, then it doesn't matter. If you're thinking of using the Nintendo update, I'd suggest installing the HBC first, otherwise the update will kill fakesigning. HBC b9 uses an unreleased exploit which works around the update.
