I'll also cite the following threads as demotivational. Edit: - And another I don't mind helping people, but some of these are just rediculous questions that are answered in hundreds of places. Don't know... I'm not even looking at that side until the banner tools are ready. As it may take a while for the tools, much can change between now and then, so there's not point planning and designing for something that might be locked out by the time I get to it. I've not actually done any work on the banner tools for a while. Mainly due to lack of motivation.by whodares - Homebrew General

Random quiz. What sort of music do you listen to when you're coding/decompiling/hacking/playing? Me: Mainly metal (Dark Tranquillity, Slayer, Cryptic Wintermoon, Paradise Lost), but also Goth/Goth Metal (Lacuna Coil, Lake of Tears, Beseech) and some Industrial (Nine Inch Nails).by whodares - Offtopic
You can buy downloadable games (VC or WiiWare) from the WiiShop (accessible via the system menu of your Wii, you also need Internet access on the Wii), and they appear in your system menuby whodares - The Junkyard
BCX is "The BASIC To C Translator", this means that his BASIC code is converted to C. So ultimately, devKitPro is still compiling C code with all the libraries like a normal Wiibrew application. This was the way my WiiBASIC compiler was going to work.by whodares - Homebrew Applications

@strongfan: Wrong thread. This has nothing to do with channel/banner creation. Please post a new threadby whodares - Homebrew General
Please, no more about CHANS/WC24 here unless it's directly related to channel/banner creation. Cheersby whodares - Homebrew General
Initially, no. Then it depends on somebody working out how WC24 and the CHANS script worksby whodares - Homebrew General

Ahhh, yes, that's because they are replacing images inside existing banners. As they don't alter the brlyt and brlan files, the images they replace must have the same file size and name as the original. However, because my banner tools will actually "create" a banner, you'll be free to use any size.by whodares - Homebrew General
QuoteDrLuckyI had understood that any image not THAT particular size would brick the Wii. Maybe I am misunderstanding the purpose of your banner tools, or underestimating all of its capabilities... Really? On disassembling my Last Ninja and Mario Kart channel banners, there are the following sizes- * "my_BackCommodore64_a.tpl" is 512x64 * "my_Grad_b.tpl" is 8x32 * "ht_mkwLogo_00.tpl" is 432x48by whodares - Homebrew General
Quotedaniel_c_wWill you release the source? Not sure yet. If I do, you'll need Visual Basic.NET 2008 (Express Edition will be fine, as that's what I'm using). I suppose I could have done it in another language, but force of habbit, and it was installed on my machine :-) QuoteDrLuckyWill it have a feature that either rejects or re-sizes and image that is not 256x192? QuoteDrLuckyIf we tried your finished banner tools? Have you released it? No, we were talking about using an "empty" banner content with a channel. Due to how the system menu is patched by SadMenu, if the zanner.bin does not exist in the banner contents U8 file (which it won't do for normal channels, with them being designed for normal system menu), it apparently displays a black banner.by whodares - Homebrew General
You'd still need a non-Nintendo NAND loader (when it comes to distribution, using the Nintendo one for testing on your own Wii is okay). The first page of this thread talks about that (and we'll eventually come back to it, one my banner tools are finished). If you (or anybody else) try this, please post your results here.by whodares - Homebrew General

QuoteDrLuckydid it have Tantric's SNES emulator in it? Please don't take this off-topic... Thinking aloud here. If sadmenu patches banner.bin to be zanner.bin, and those channels still showed, just with a black banner. Could just installing a banner than consists of the 64byte "Banner" header (for lack of a better name), IMET header and a U8 file with no contents, allow a channel toby whodares - Homebrew General

QuoteWiiCrazyyet I don't know if wii will like a zanner.bin installed as part of the 0.app archive... It must be okay, otherwise sadmenu would be a really pointless release. But you are correct, there are other factors that could still end up bricking the Wii, which is why I think a banner load redirector is probably the best way to go, even if it replaces every channel's banner by 1by whodares - Homebrew General

Is the cardreader part of your machine? or is it like a USB adaptor? It might be that the connection is bad (loose cable, not plugged in properly). Also, doublecheck that you entered the card fully, maybe give the socket a quick blow, incase any dust as accumlated over a pin. Not just that. The VC emulators are copyrighted material too, and I think some ROMs still fall under copyright (that will probably depend on if the original developer/producer/etc. are still in existance). So distributing any part of it will probably be illegal. However, if you wrote a tool that accepted a VC WAD and a ROM image as parameters and combined them together into a new WAD, you woulby whodares - The Junkyard
