Couple more quick questions: 1. I downloaded a PDF on the PowerPC 403. Is this the right instruction set/architecture for the Hollywood? I don't know how much PowerPC's differ between chips, but I wanted to check. 2.svpe mentions real mode addressing. Will IOS load my/Nintendo's/marcan's NAND loader in real mode, and the loader have to set up virtual/protected mode? I suby whodares - Homebrew General

If you are using Muzzer's or Tona's tools to install IOS51 and the new shop channel, then it doesn't matter. If you're thinking of using the Nintendo update, I'd suggest installing the HBC first, otherwise the update will kill fakesigning.by whodares - Homebrew General
Thanks! Wow, this really is like when I was trying to write an operating system for my desktop :-) Bootsector always loaded into the same place in RAM, A20 gate to enter Protected mode, set up memory pages maps. I never got as far as to code the real mode stuff, but I understand the concepts. I'm sure I'll have more questions for you all soon :-) Thanks againby whodares - Homebrew General

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I wasn't sure if this was the place to put it, but I didn't know anywhere better. Feel free to move it if you think of somewhere better suited. Distribution will only happen once the original banner has been replaced with my own, I was just thinking of an existing one to make sure I had visible content without bricking the Wii. Let's start with the situation. My Wii is physically unmodified, I'm still on system menu 3.2E and have the homebrew channel and a USBGecko. My plan is to create a channel for WiiBASIC and/or WiiTree (Wii version of XTree/ZTree) if and when I sort them. My test plan was too try and write an installer application which will create a channel using a copied banner (probably the photo chby whodares - Homebrew General

QuotetonaPremise 2: "There is because there is no way to make home-made Channel WADs without using copyrighted content." HBC did it, therefore the must be a way. No? Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh. Chances are, if there's no forum topic, and nothing on WiiBrew or Tehskeen, nobody's looking at it :-) Also, the Megadrive/Genesis was only a 16bit machine, as with the MegaCD, whereas the PSone was 32bit. Plus also the processor is a different make, which means all the opcodes will be different. CD access may be completely different too. Did you evby whodares - Homebrew Applications

Quotebobstar89n Arikado I think the person responsible for the particular file will have to update their file to .dol Actually, if you read the HackMii page, it gives anybody with devKitPro a console command to convert any ELF files to DOL, whether you have the source or not.by whodares - Homebrew General
QuotetonaIf you want people to be able to send you emails securely, you put out a public encryption key. If you want to be able to ensure others that they are getting messages securely from you, you put out a public decryption key. Good call, I don't know what I was thinking... QuotetonaQuoteArikadoEDIT: LIGHTBULB!!! Couldn't we dump the code of Mario Kart Wii or Wii Fit to see how they install their respective channels without using fakesigned code? Epic fail. RSA 101 (Or read this) RSA encryption is done with key pairs. One key is used to encrypt data, and one key is used to decrypt it. The encryption key is also called a "private key," because you wanby whodares - Homebrew General
QuoteArikadoSo there's no way we could get them? It wouldn't even be possible to write a program that accesses the shop channel and grabs them? I take it that you didn't read the wiki link then. Key pair encryption means each "party" has a public and a private key (ie, Nintendo and the Wii). If you encrypt something with the Wii's public key, only the Wii's private keyby whodares - Homebrew General
QuotesteveyWouldn't the best fastest course of action to take is to install a cIOS with fake signing fix removed then update to keep all the homebrew functionality intact by having all disadvantage howebrew software call it? As you figure out how it works, might be worth just informing Michael at Wiiuse, as it might be useful for others, and it can get distributed with the standard Wiiuse library. That way many people can benefit from your effort.by whodares - Coding
QuoteDrLuckyDo you think that when the PS emu is done it would be started? As I have said before, if you want an emulator, unless you are really lucky enough to find a developer with free time, and is interested in that platform, you're going to have to do it yourself. pinball Wizard has given you enough information to set you on your way :-)by whodares - Homebrew Applications
@DrLucky: He said a "wired connection". @pimpsahoy: I'm not aware of any apps yet, but technically I would have thought it possible. Windows supports a peer-to-peer wireless network, I don't see why something similar couldn't be cooked up. Don't ask how though, I have no idea :-)by whodares - Homebrew Applications
No, if it was arbitrary then no application/game would ever actually know which extension is connected. Writing the extension check is not as difficult as you might imagine. Something like this should work... WPAD_Init(); While( (WPAD_ButtonsDown(WPAD_CHAN_0) & WPAD_BUTTON_HOME) == 0 ) { WPAD_ScanPads(); printf("extension: %d", WPAD_Data(WPAD_CHAN_0)->exp.type); } It's noby whodares - Coding

I'm with Dan on this one, I'm afraid... I've seen a number of threads closed off at the hint of the word WAD, and while Team Twiizers have not released their banner tools, I think it's a bit harsh (and naive) to assume nobody else will be able to figure it out and want to make their own. Esp' when there is an article on HackMii describing some of the banner structures.by whodares - Homebrew General
I don't have access to libogc at the minute. However, in the Wiiuse includes there will be a few bits you need to add/edit Firstly, each controller "extension" will have a unique number such as #define WII_EXTENSION_NUNCHUK 1 The easiest way to find this out is to write a simple homebrew app which lists the extension numbers then just plug in the drums after it's running, and yby whodares - Coding
Technically, if you built your own banner (from scratch), and compiled it and the respective homebrew app into a WAD file, you could then use a WAD installer to put it on. The Homebrew Channel only ever looks at the SD card, so as long as it is on there, it will appear on your list.by whodares - Homebrew General

Plus, because of the sheer amount of effort, unless you happen to find a wiibrewer that also wants that particular platform, the only way (probably) you're going to get it is to code it yourself.by whodares - The Junkyard
Shouldn't do. Ocarina/GeckoOS load the patches before starting the game, then closes the SD card down, so effectively the game is running like normal. However, if you return to the Homebrew channel after removing the SD card, you might get problems. I remember once taking my SD card in and out whilst the HBC was running to update some code I was working on (before I used WiiLoad), and itby whodares - Homebrew General
