Cheer up, DVD players are dirt cheap these days anyway. You can probably pick one up at your local supermarket for ~$20 or whatever your local currency is.by SifJar - Getting Started
Provided you have a sufficiently old Wii (i.e. a couple of years or more), you can play DVDs using the homebrew app "WiiMC". Of course, you will need to install the Homebrew Channel (HBC) first, if you haven't already done so. If you have a newer Wii, WiiMC will fail to play DVDs, due to a hardware limitation. Unfortunately there is no way around that, and so if you have one of these neweby SifJar - Homebrew General
The WiiMC channel isn't necessary, it's just a matter of convenience. Basically running the channel installer will make a "channel" appear on the Wii's main menu screen ("System Menu"), in the same way HBC appears there, or official channels like the Shop Channel appear there. Loading that channel will take you straight into WiiMC, instead of having to load HBC, wait for it to loaby SifJar - Getting Started
There isn't a WAD of it available that I know of, and even if there was, it would be pointless and stupid. You would gain nothing from doing it, so don't waste your time trying.by SifJar - Software
More info can be useful as it allows the developer to see what line of code the crash occurred on. However, that does depend on teknecal seeing it, and I'm not sure how often he comes here. I think only the "stack dump" section is completely necessary, but perhaps the other sections would be useful too. dop-Mii can update most things to their latest revisions, including System Menu and Shop Channel as far as I know. But I can't understand why you're getting that error if it's not priiloader... :/by SifJar - FixMii
Don't bother with what metroid_maniac said (or at least, not yet), it probably wouldn't help in the slightest. Turn your Wii on holding reset while you do so. This should hopefully bring up the Priiloader menu. In this menu, navigate into settings and then system menu hacks, and disable everything you see there. Once you've done that, updates should hopefully work, so do an updaby SifJar - FixMii
fatInitDefault(); You really should try and figure some of this stuff out yourself instead of expecting to be led through everything step by step. For finding functions like this one, take a look through the header files of libogc (i.e. the .h files in devkitPro\libogc\include). Alternatively just look at the examples included with devkitPro and it should show you there how to do this as well.by SifJar - Coding

Uninstall homebrew channel (run the HackMii Installer and choose the uninstall option under "Homebrew Channel"), update through System Menu. Simple as that. If you want the system formatted (purely optional, won't do anything more than deleting the homebrew channel in terms of removing traces of HBC, but will remove all WiiWare and Virtual Console games), you can do that before or after tby SifJar - Getting Started

Sounds like whatever button it is for screenshots is jammed or something. If I remember correctly, it's a button on the nunchuck. Try running HBC without the nunchuck connected, see if that helps.by SifJar - Homebrew General
(This forum's parsing messes up the code, hence the pastebin for such a small snippet of code) EDIT: I feel I should also mention that this is the case on all platforms AFAIK; that function is always defined in sys/stat.h.by SifJar - Coding
Quotefilfatwill i got a ip there if i has send it over internet/wifi? Well you would only get the first byte using the code I provided above (and for anything other than "s" or "u" it would do nothing). argv[0] may contain an IP, I don't know. As chris suggested, you can try it and see what happens. (try printing argv[0] to screen and then load it via the different methods and see what arby SifJar - Coding
Yeah argv[0] contains the path I am fairly certain, and you can get it from there indeed. Check the first byte; if it is "s", it's from the SD card, if it is "u", it's from a USB drive. EDIT: Something like this should work I think: char test; int useSD; sscanf(argv[0], "%c", &test); //read first character from argv[0] into test if(test == 115){ useSD = 1; } //first chby SifJar - Coding

New wii remotes don't work with old homebrew. Any recently updated/released homebrew should work fine, but sadly the only way for older homebrew to work is for them to be updated, and in many cases the authors have now abandoned them.by SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode

QuotelinuxlalalaWell, it is reported that some controlers with wii MotionPlus (TM) intergrated often won't work with the hackmii installer (this is the programm called by letterbomb to expoilt the wii). I have no idea why it isn't working I'm afraid, I would advise posting a comment on the HackMii blog post about the release of the vWii compatible HBC detailing your problem. That way it might be seen by people who could look into the problem more thoroughly.by SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
If you install any IOS with dop-Mii (not that you could, but more on that later), it will not work. The Wii Mode on the WiiU requires different versions of IOS than an actual Wii. You cannot use regular Wii IOS on a vWii (virtual Wii i.e. Wii Mode on WiiU), and you cannot use vWii IOS on a regular Wii. Sounds like some hardware fault, highly unlikely it is related in any way to homebrew, seeing as you were running a SNES emulator at the time. Sadly, Nintendo aren't too keen on fixing Wiis with homebrew. You could send it in in the hopes they won't notice, but if they do they may charge you extra or refuse to fix it (if they try to charge you extra, you should be able to have them justby SifJar - FixMii
A common post from newcomers often relates to having installed the Homebrew Channel, but upon launching it, finding all they see is bubbles. If this describes you, you're in the right thread. First off, you should (hopefully) already know that the Homebrew Channel is simply a loader of homebrew, it doesn't do an awful lot by itself. QuoteBrandonator365Ok now listen, You have to select your region, type in the right MAC, AND... in case no one has told you this yet... You have to format the SD card that you use for letterbomb. Formatting the SD card clears off everything on it, so use a blank SD card or your files will be deleted. To format I think you have to right click on the SD card in the menu and click on format.
