You could also try running "nandbincheck" on a NAND dump from your Wii in it's current state. This should point out any problems preventing the Wii from booting, and in that way you may be able to fix without having to rebuild a NAND from scratch with Ohneschwanzenegger (which would mean losing all your save data, channels , Miis etc.).by SifJar - FixMii
Huh, that's odd. Seeing as you clearly have BootMii/boot2, do you have a NAND backup from any point in the past? If so, now might be the time to restore it...by SifJar - FixMii
In addition to what bg4545 has mentioned, I believe that the "Home" menu is actually found on the disc of each individual game; it's not a case of patching something on NAND and suddenly having a modified Home menu in every game, you have to patch it in every game, and I'm not completely sure on this, but I don't think one universal patch would work for all games. Assuming you still have dop-Mii handy, load it up and install IOS80 and System Menu v513. That should fix it, provided dop-Mii doesn't have a problem in doing so. You should never have installed a Korean system menu on a USA wii, I'm not sure why that would have been advised anywhere. Themes, although not really supported here as they mostly contain illegal elements, work just fineby SifJar - FixMii
You could do, yes. There are a few different graphics libraries for the Wii (GRRLIB, libpng, libwiisprite ), you should try and have a look at examples of each and find the one which suits you best. According to the libwiisprite wiki page, it is designed for "rapid game development", so that sounds like it's probably what you're after. Although the wiki page also says it is under "heavyby SifJar - Ideas, requests
Programming most useful things "takes some time". Games aren't exactly "simple" either, there's a lot more to them than most people think. (I'm not saying you shouldn't start learning; go ahead and get started, just don't expect to knock out a great game in a weekend or anything like that. It depends on the file. Every file type is different (hence they are different file types), there is no one way to handle all of them. You can open any file very easily with something like: FILE* fp = fopen("example.txt", "r"); but opening the file isn't going to do anything on it's own. You need to have code to handle the content of the file. For ROMs, you need an emulator. This iby SifJar - Ideas, requests
Unofficial Classic Controllers don't work quite the same way as official ones, and so libogc (the Wii homebrew library) doesn't support them. It is coded specifically for official controllers, and to work with unofficial ones, it would have to be modified. I'm not completely clear why these controllers work with official software, but yet aren't compatible with homebrew thoby SifJar - Getting Started
You don't need any of that stuff, Dolphin can just load homebrew DOL and ELF files from the "Open" menu. It's really that simple. Although note that if you want to have an SD card (e.g. want to use homebrew that requires access to external files) you will need to create an SD card "image" and point Dolphin to it. There are probably various pieces of software available to do this. Altby SifJar - Getting Started
Older Wiis had disc drives which still had DVD read commands available (i.e. they had the ability to read commercial DVDs and also DVD-Rs). Nintendo removed those commands from the firmware of later drives, so there is no way to read DVDs on the Wiis with those newer drives. I think you can replace the drive if you can find an older one, but it's probably not worth the hassle. As for theby SifJar - Getting Started
It should be called "boot.elf", not "installer.elf". "boot.elf" is the name required by all exploits for loading it.by SifJar - Getting Started
DVD access (done right) shouldn't require AHB access, if I'm understanding tueidj correctly. It's needed for reading commercial DVDs (e.g. movies etc. in apps such as WiiMC) because you need to poke a value onto a certain register to enable DVD video mode, which is easily done at runtime via AHB access. But you shouldn't need DVD video mode to read files from a Wii opticalby SifJar - Coding
In updated versions of HBC, that bug is fixed and "<no_ios_reload />" is completely interchangeable with "<ahb_access />"; both cause HBC to launch the app with the HW_AHBPROT access required. <no_ios_reload /> was the only tag in older versions, in newer versions it was changed because IOS is always reloaded, to prevent the bug, but newer versions of HBC will still read <by SifJar - Coding
QuotedesmI haven't looked into making it its own channel. I will look into it.It's not designed for that either, it's designed to be loaded directly from an exploit. But as I should probably have mentioned before; there is no point in loading it when you have HBC installed. HBC will run any app LoadMii will.by SifJar - Homebrew Applications
try deleting the dol and renaming loadmii.elf to boot.elf instead (HBC should load any properly made ELF or DOL, sounds like there is some problem with the DOL if your case) EDIT: And it lacks an icon and description because it has no icon.png or meta.xml. As the names suggest, icon.png provides the icon and meta.xml the description/name/author/etc. Look at some other homebrew to understand thby SifJar - Homebrew Applications
you can delete everything apart from loadmii.dol, which should be renamed to boot.dol. Then it will show up (deleting everything else isn't essential, there's just no point keeping unnecessary files there).by SifJar - Homebrew Applications
While metroid_maniac is correct that there is not such an app, he is not (completely) correct that such an app is impossible. The original DS (the "Phat" with the very first firmware version, v1) can load homebrew apps sent to it via Download Play (via a tool called "Wireless MultiBoot" or WMB). Later versions of the firmware (found on newer Phats and all Lites) fixed the bug exploited for this,by SifJar - Homebrew General
DVD_READ_UNENCRYTED would require patches based on tueidj's post.by SifJar - Coding
I don't think tueidj was talking about that. Basically, the way the FST library works, it requires IOS patches, which means requiring HW_AHBPROT. Tueidj was saying the library can be fixed to not require IOS patches, so it would work without HW_AHBPROT. My guess is that this is quite a complex task, seeing as no one seems to have done it.by SifJar - Coding
BootMii has video settings which can be set in bootmii.ini, which may fix the flickering within bootmii. For games, I'm not really sure. But I don't think restoring a NAND dump is going to fix anything.by SifJar - Homebrew General
If they're half decent, they'll provide HW_AHBPROT access, which can be checked as mentioned above. If they don't give that access, just display an error telling users to stop using their pathetic loader and switch to something that works properly e.g. (updated) HBC. You need an IOS exploit to get HW_AHBPROT access from within your own code, so you should have the code only work whby SifJar - Coding
Ah, ok. Understand now. Does DI_GetError still return -6, or is that fixed/changed now due to HW_AHBPROT?by SifJar - Coding
You can install the Homebrew channel using letterbomb without a working drive, yes. Although as I understand it, the disc drive is one of the simpler parts to replace if you want to get a fully working wii again.by SifJar - Getting Started
IOS reloading stuff? I don't see that anywhere...but if IOS was reloaded, you'd have to reinitialize DI, which would also mean keeping HW_AHBPROT during the IOS reload, which is more complicated than simply reloading IOS. Reloading IOS normally will lost HW_AHBPROT access. But unless I've overlooked it, I don't see any IOS reloading. I'll try and have a closer look tomby SifJar - Coding
If HAVE_AHBPROT is 1, it means that DI_Init() should work. Other DI stuff won't work until it's initialized. I didn't look too closely at your code, so I'm not sure what could be causing the issue you are now experiencing. I'll have another look, but I'm not very experienced in developing so may not be able to offer much more help I'm afraid. Hopefully someone wby SifJar - Coding
How exactly are you loading the compiled app? From SD/USB? (the alternative is over wifi with wiiload) If so, you need a <no_ios_reload /> tag in the meta.xml for it to be loaded with AHBPROT set correctly. Many open source projects contain code to check this before doing things which require AHBPROT, I would advise finding and adding some such code to your app so as to avoid issues froby SifJar - Coding
FAT32 usually works well. Assuming you use Windows, you should be able to just right click the drive in Windows Explorer (i.e. "My Computer") and choose "Format", and make sure you choose "FAT32" as the file system. Instructions would vary for another OS.by SifJar - Getting Started
Quotemetroid_maniacDoes not matter.Well, that's not completely true. WiiMC can play most formats, but there are some it struggles with I believe. (MKV isn't a strong point, from what I can remember). Bear in mind the Wii can only output 480p, so video in a higher resolution will have to be downscaled, for best results go with video at 480p or lower resolution.
