Dop-IOS mod

Trial 1 doesn't work, just goes to a black screen and then you have to power off the Wii. Trial 2 does work when it comes to not hanging with the garbled text, but when I try to downgrade any IOS (which I need to do to use hackmii) it skips the patching option, goes straight to downloading the IOS, and gives a "bad hash" error and exits to the system menu. I have also tried to downgrade to 4.1 and 4.0, but both times the installation fails at the start when it tries to create a temp directory.

You need a clean unpatched IOS 61 installed or else the HBC will go upside-down. If installing one doesn't fix it, reinstall the HBC. Use trial 3 to install a clean one.

What IOS does Hackmii installer use?
Re: Dop-IOS mod

it tells you when you load it. If you don't install (not update) IOS, it'll probably remain that way.

Installers telling me theres no known vulnerable IOS. Seems I shouldn't have gone and updated every IOS

Arikado, I tried to install an unpatched version of IOS 61 with the new trial, but it skipped the patching option, went straight to downloading it, and failed during the installation. The error was:

After downloading everything it says:
Found new-school ES patch @ 0x5e2a, patching

then after it starts to install the IOS it says:

ES_AddContentStart(000000010000003d, 0) failed: -1017
install returned -1
Installation complete!
ERROR: something failed (ret: -1)

It then gives me the option to continue, exit, or cancel. Trying to downgrade IOS's also failed. I haven't tried downgrading to 4.1 or 4.0 yet.

Edit: Tried downgrading and it didn't work.

Trial 4. I made small mistake before - That patch bug should be taken care of now. Thanks for your detailed feedback frewster :)

I tried trial 4. It tried to install IOS30 (a downgrade) but failed. Trying to install the current verson of IOS61 resulted in the error message:

failed to create temp dir

There was some more text but that was all I could get before it exited.

What IOS are you using when you're asked to load an IOS in the beginning?

Just noticed another thing, even on trial 4. When trying to install a channel it goes past initializing network, and right after ticket appears, the screen goes to its garbled mess.

Odd... The exact same code that installs IOSs is used to install channels. The original IOS garbled mess bug was caused by me using an incompatible build of devkitPRO to compile. The channel garbled mess bug should seriously be fixed as well. If it's honestly not, then I have no idea what's causing it.

There's the source to trial 4. Anyone is welcome to try and improve it.

Just tried Trial 4 (IOSs only) 4.2E (Safe Update Method), HBC 1.0.6.

1st try using IOS249(v14) to install a bugged IOS70 - it gave a garbled screen after the "Press A to enable Trucha Bug" for IOS70 ie. at the point it should have started downloading.

2nd try using IOS36 (already bugged) installed IOS70 with the bug correctly.

3rd try I repeated using IOS249(v14) to install IOS70 and it worked?

Just thought I'd report it case it's not an isolated case.

Edit: Tried it a few more times and it continues to error intermitantly at that point ie. 1 in 4.

Edit 2: Got it repeatable! Start Wii, HBC, run Dop-IOS MOD, Use IOS249 to install IOS70, exit to loader (HBC), run Dop-IOS Mod, Use IOS 249 to install IOS70 = Garbled screen at point of download.

Looks to be due to a bug in cIOS38rev14 as by using a patched IOS36 to install there's never an issue!
