Dop-IOS mod

Trial 4 works great for me, but if I use a Gamecube controller to select an IOS to install, it automatically chooses "Yes" for every extra option after it (IOS version/hacks/final confirmation)

@Arikado: I've been using several different IOS's to install. I still get the "cannot create temp dir" error occasionally. I'll try it without a Gamecube controller.

Edit: Tried without a gamecube controller, and this fixes the problem where it skips the patching option. But downgrading IOS's still fails and when I try to downgrade to a different system menu it can't create a temp directory.

I've done some troubleshooting and testing of my own. Didn't document every step, and I don't have much for resources other than what I know.

maybe some info from this thread could be of use: forum.wiibrew.org

There are some screen caps in the previous post as well.

Yeah, I'm paying close attention to your thread wasaqnan. I'll try to have a 'trial 5' out that should fix problems encountered in this thread and your thread later today. Thanks for all of the detailed feedback, I really appreciate it - it helps me to produce an overall better program.

Arikado, Dop-IOS MOD worked WONDERS for me today (may have just been DOP-IOS in and of itself, but I was using DOP-IOS Mod, so I'm thankin' you). My friend wanted me to hack his wii, and update him to 4.1 because he was on 3.4 and wanted the SD Card Menu, so I used Dop-IOS Mod to manually update all IOS versions, and *Insert program here* by Wankynono to install the 4.1 Sysmenu, works great, thank you.

On a semi-related question. Would using AnyRegion changer to change settings to Jap, then Dop-IOS Mod to install Japan's SysMenu 4.2 make a functional Japenese Wii, or is there other pieces behind the scene that AnyRegion Changer took care of with its system menu download that I'd lack using this combo?
Also I'm assuming even if I were to use Dop-IOS Mod to install the Japanese Wii Shop, I wouldn't actually be able to use it as theres still some sort of protection around that isn't there?

Patch your system menu to let you play region free channels? (See StartPatch) I would make a bootmii boot2 NAND backup before attempting this though...

I remember months back I had installed 3.2J, and with it the Jap Wii Shop Channel, but when I'd go to it I'd get some error about being in the wrong region. Like there was some other check going on, maybe in the servers somewhere? Oh well, I'm willing to bed the Jap shop has next to nothing worthwhile anyways. I'll probably just give it a shot sometime anyways though.

You must delete your Shop Channel account in your current region before converting the region.

Installing the shop channel from another region with Dop-IOS mod will not change your shop channel region.

Trial 5
*Fixes that temp dir error that occurs while installing a system menu
*Another attempt to fix the gamecube controller error skipping the patch checks
*Compiled under devkitPPCr18 (hopefully shouldn't produce garbled text errors this time)
*If the above doesn't cause any problems (like it did before) all other garbled text errors should be taken care of as well

If this build ends up causing more errors, let me know and I'll go back to compiling under devkitPPCr17.

Installing channels no longer gives garbled mess, does however just hang after the line "Installing the [insert] Channel..."

Quick test of Trial5 - fail :(

Install IOS70 using IOS222 or IOS249 Screen freeze (not garbled) after [A] Yes apply Sig Hash Check patch.

Install IOS70 using IOS36 (trucha and ES patched) after [A] Yes apply Sig Hash Check patch.
Download Title 00000001-00000046 v6687....
ISFS_CreateDir(/tmp/patchmii) returned -4
Failed to create temp dir: :
System:- 4.2E, BootMii (boot2 and IOS), HBC (v1.0.6), IOS222v4 (38merge37), IOS249 (cIOS38 rev14)

Edit: Comparing v7(Trial4) to v6 - v7 always used WiFi even when IOS70 was already on the SD?

Trial5 fixed the screen-fuzzy bug, which has been occurring for me, but the error as shown by Ramzee displays..

I can confirm. I have the same error as mverason and Ramzee. I also tried through both USB ports and SD.

Trial 6.

Same as trial 5 but compiled under devkitPPCr17. So this should take care of hangs and other errors hopefully.
