I couldn't get Smash Stack working on my Wii U in Wii mode. It kept freezing Super Smash Bros. Brawl when trying to load the exploit from the SD card. I ended up using Indiana Pwns instead to install the Homebrew Channel. You will need Lego Indiana Jones for this exploit. You might try another exploit and see if you get better results.by pcmantinker - Wii U - Wii Mode
From what I've tested with Wii64 Beta 1, the games that play the best are those that are already available on Virtual Console. I see great potential in future releases of Wii64 because most of the games that I've tested run quite well. Some games still do not boot or have extreme graphical errors preventing game play, but I know that they will most likely be fixed with a later release oby pcmantinker - Ideas, requests
It will be interesting to see what Nintendo does to recover from the 4.2 update bricking issue. I don't know how many Wiis were affected by the buggy boot2 update code, but it has to be costing Nintendo a lot of money to fix bricked un-modified Wiis for free. Most likely, they'll soon come up with a 4.3 update that fixes the boot2 update code and also searches for the newer versions ofby pcmantinker - Homebrew General
I hardly think that Sega has plans to release a next gen system, but I could be wrong. I haven't seen them make any attempts to compete with the market as far as consoles goes since the N64 and PS1 release, which was over 10 years ago. The Dreamcast was a good console for its time. They claimed it was more powerful than the N64 and PS1 combined. When the Gamecube was released, Sony releasedby pcmantinker - Offtopic
This sounds like an interesting project. I would be interested to see the development of this project progress. It would be cool to have a Firefox equivalent for the Wii simply because I prefer Firefox to other browsers competing browsers. I wish you the best of luck.by pcmantinker - Coding
Ah, yeah. lol oops I see how that would be an infinite loop. :P I originally had it in a while loop that terminated when I pressed the home button on a wiimote. Also, the code from the wiki example is a bit outdated and doesn't load the file I select from the list. I just used the code as an example and adapted it to fit my needs. I was experimenting with getting mp3 playback in my wiimote iby pcmantinker - Coding
Here is some code that I have that is adapted from the mp3 player example on the wiki: #include // standard includes mp3player.h, fat.h, etc won't format correctly in the code block FILE* pFile; long lSize; char * buffer; long result; char * filename; int main() { fatInitDefault(); MP3Player_Init(); if(fatInitDefault()) { filename = (char *)"sd:by pcmantinker - Coding
What would it take to port libntfs from linux ppc to wii? I'm not really savvy on lib ports, but I was curious what would be required. It would be great to read from the NTFS partition that I have on my 320GB external drive used by my laptop. If that's not possible, should I create an FAT32 partition on the drive or just get another drive and format to FAT32?by pcmantinker - Coding
You only need the private folder and boot.dol to install the HBC. Then make an apps folder to put your applications in once the HBC is installed.by pcmantinker - Getting Started
You can buy an SD card reader from your local electronics store. They typically aren't too expensive and most card readers include the ability to read other card formats as well.by pcmantinker - Getting Started
I think he was being sarcastic becuase it's illegal to discuss isos or backups. Wiibrew doesn't allow the conversation of these topics on its forum.by pcmantinker - The Junkyard
EDIT: Backup talk is not allowed. You can get banned for talking about such things.by pcmantinker - The Junkyard
Try this guide I've not tested the guide, but it looks promising. I will test very soon and let you know how it turns out.by pcmantinker - Getting Started
I would recommend getting at least System 3.2. I'm not sure which games update to that version by default, but I wouldn't use Nintendo's update service becuase it will bump your system to 3.4. A lot is still unknown about system 3.4 and isn't recommended to update to yet. Follow these guides for running the Twilight Hack to install the Homebrew Channel.by pcmantinker - Getting Started
I've not actually used the Twilight hack on system 3.4 before and already had the HBC installed prior to my system 3.4 update, but maybe I can help. When you run the Twilight hack, what do you see on the screen? If it appears to not be responding for a while, you may have the wrong region of the Twilight hack. With the correct region of the hack, it should install in about 5-10 minutes at moby pcmantinker - Getting Started
Yeah, I could, but I forgot to mention that I am unable to see anything on the screen. It's not too big of a deal, but I was just wondering it was possible. I think that I will save up some money and repair the Wii so I can get a warranty extension.by pcmantinker - Offtopic
When you open up your SD card on a computer, the root contents should be similar to this: private (folder) boot.dol Copy the Twilight hack to your SD card and then copy it to your Wii's internal saves. Then run Zelda. Don't restart your Wii becuase system 3.4 will delete the save file. After you start the game, load the Twilight hack game save and walk around a little bit until thby pcmantinker - Getting Started
I think that it might have been Toy Story for the SNES. I loved that game. The classics will always be a favorite of mine.by pcmantinker - Offtopic
My first Wii was notorious in having its gpu fry during electrical storms. I had it plugged into a surge protector that many other appliances were plugged into as well. The first time my first wii's gpu fried, I was able to send it to Nintendo for repairs becuase it was still under warranty. The second time that it happened however, I was not so lucky. Ok awesome. I'm at home this weekend and have the ability to connect to the wireless network. I will look into getting the LAN adapter and let you know the results when I return to school.by pcmantinker - Homebrew General
I'm sorry if this was asked before or is mentioned elsewhere, but I was wondering if the Homebrew Channel recognizes the Nintendo lan adapter as a valid internet connection. I don't have the ability to connect to the wireless network at school with my Wii. It uses a different wireless encryption method than the Wii is currently setup to use.by pcmantinker - Homebrew General
That code seems to work much better. I am glad that my apps video settings can be compatible with any region Wii now. Thanks for the tip.by pcmantinker - Coding
I'm using the version packaged with devkitpro 1.4.9. I think that's using the latest version of libogc, but I'm not 100% sure.by pcmantinker - Coding
I noticed that when I turn on a wiimote to use in my application, the wiimote padid is not always the same as what the homebrew channel had configured or the wii system. For instance, sometimes I'll be using controller 1 to start my application and then it syncs as controller 4 once the application loads. Is there a way to make the wiimotes' padid stay the same when my application loadsby pcmantinker - Coding
I don't think that it's physically possible to do that considering that the Wiimote doesn't have all the buttons as a Classic Controller. You can use a Gamecube controller if you have a spare one lying around. I've also seen a 3rd party Classic Controller that has the Wiimote built-in at Best Buy. It's not licensed by Nintendo, but it's worth a try if all you want isby pcmantinker - Homebrew General

Hi, I figured out how to display a cursor on the screen at the wiimote's x/y position, but the offset of the cursor position needs to be corrected. Currently I have found the x offset is 82 when x is 0 and the y offset is 82 when y is 0. When x is 640, the x offset is 22. Likewise, when y is 480, the y offset is 48. I have checks to see if the x and y values are within a certain range toby pcmantinker - Coding
Thanks for the quick replies everyone. It's now working. The only question I have is broadening the range of the screen so that the cursor may be moved to the edges of the screen. Should I change the screen resolution or is 640x480 the standard Wii resolution? Edit: It looks as though there is an offset. I will see about figuring that out. Or has someone already determined the offset?by pcmantinker - Coding
Well, I would like to write a C++ application but I didn't know that GRRLIB wasn't compatible with C++. I will try libwiisprite and see what I can do with that.by pcmantinker - Coding
Hi, I recently started wii programming and have some general knowledge of C++. I am trying to draw a cursor and update its x/y position with the wiimote IR x/y position. I followed the CodeMii tutorial on how to draw a point on the screen at the wiimote's position. The next thing I tried was implementing the GRRLib into my application so that I could load a cursor and display it at the wiby pcmantinker - Coding
