QuoteSlushoOk thanks everyone. For now I'll use Gecko OS but I may update. May I ask why?by WaxyPumpkin72 - Homebrew General
QuoteSlushoSo just so we're clear, those messages Nintendo pops up warning people with hacked Wiis is just nonsense? No. At the time, what Nintendo said was true. But since the Title ID for the HBC has changed, the "removal of third party software" is bogus.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Homebrew General
QuoteSlushoWell the reason I want to update is because I just bought Metroid Prime Trilogy and it wants it to update. There's no way of getting around that is there? You could launch the game through gecko os if you wanted to, but it would be easier to just update.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Homebrew General
Don't hold down the power button when you turn off your wii. Just tap it once.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Homebrew General
If you're using the latest version of the HBC, it will not be deleted when you update.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started
QuoterbmanWell, do you think its possible? Well, have you read the rules? Obviously not, or else you would have noticed that you're not allowed to request a video recorder or screenshot capturer application that runs in the background of the Wii's natural processes.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Ideas, requests
I'm glad I could help! Sorry if I came off as rude, I didn't mean it. If you have more questions, feel free to ask them.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started
Quotejbc007This really doesn't make any sense. What do you mean by "installed games"? I certainly hope you aren't talking about pirated games. He is talking about piracy (see the most recently junkyarded topic). @Update your frikking wii. You've already been told multiple times to do so. If you bring up piracy again, I'm reporting you to an admin.by WaxyPumpkin72 - The Junkyard
The easiest way to update would be to: 1.) Navigate to the wii settings. 2.) Select the "Update System" option. Also, this question has been answered 1,000 times before. Try using the search function next time. :) Edit: Oh, and before you ask "Are you sure this is safe?", let me say that yes, it is safe. You will not brick your wii.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started
Fail. Piracy isn't supported here. Please read the rules.by WaxyPumpkin72 - The Junkyard
QuoteSifJarThat sucks. Stupid Apple...do you know is it possible with a jailbroken iPod Touch? I doubt it, but I'll go check..... I can't seem to find anything. You could SSH into the root of the ipod, and store files there. Would that help?by WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started
QuoteSifJarI believe you can use iTunes to set your iPod to enable disk use (or something along those lines, not sure the exact wording in iTunes), which allows you to browse iPod like hard drive. Do that, and I think then it works. Not 100% sure you can do that with iPod Touch though, may only be older iPods... This can't be done on an iPod Touch. I know, its lame. It doesn't make a difference if you update from the disk or over the internet. QuoteIsaactooOut of curiosity, how was it determined that it is/isn't risky? N00bs saw that there was an update that deleted the HBC. They got all scared. Once they realized that the only reason it was deleted was because of something dumb, and that it could be easily re-installed, everything was fine. Butby WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started
Quotepunksnotdeadim just curious ive read stories of peoples wiis bricking because of homebrew displaying its play time That is bogus. Please give me a link to your source. Its perfectly safe to update.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Homebrew General

Feel free to ask more questions if you need to.by WaxyPumpkin72 - FixMii
Download Dop-mii from the link I gave you, and then extract the folder you download. Once extracted, take the folder and put it inside of the apps folder that is on the root of your SD card. You should be set up like this: root:/apps/dop_mii/boot.dolby WaxyPumpkin72 - FixMii
If you want to run the update from the disk, go ahead. Its perfectly safe. You won't brick your wii unless the power goes out mid-update.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started
? Copy/paste the folder that you downloaded into the apps folder on the root of your SD card.by WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started

QuoteAceMiloUm, I'm not trying to pirate anything, all I want is to get this thing unbricked. Lol fail. Asking for someone to e-mail you an ISO that you don't have the right to own is piracy.by WaxyPumpkin72 - FixMii
QuotelordunlowMy understanding of BootMii is that, once installed as boot2, it will allow me to save a backup of my NAND in its current state that I can keep indefinitely. If I don't like my Wii after the updates/installations(i.e. if some programs don't work anymore, I partially brick my Wii, or I just liked it the way it was before), I can just run BootMii and restore my Wii to the waby WaxyPumpkin72 - BootMii Beta
QuoteSawbone_VykkerI was mostly just concerned about the 4.1 update (currently on 4.0U). I suppose I'm not losing anything significant by upgrading to 4.2 right? You'll be fine if you update to 4.2 (as mdbrim has already said).by WaxyPumpkin72 - Getting Started
