well, somebody has to design and program a VM for the aplets. In other words: you would have to implement the whole Java library on the Wii. Good Luck :Dby daniel_c_w - Homebrew General

Quotecol70With all the stuff flying around at the moment about whether or not Nintendo can upgrade you automatically, or not as some are saying, I thought that the WiiConnect24 would be a good topic for discussion as, as far as I know, this would be the portal that would be used. I understand that It enables your Wii to remain connected to the Internet while the console is in stand-by. For exaby daniel_c_w - Homebrew General
Quotelizard81288doesn't the 360 and ps3 auto update? The 360 does not update it's system software without user interaction.by daniel_c_w - Homebrew General
AFAIK the backwards recorded data are not the problem. Anyway: for the drive of the Wii it is easy to tell a DVD+(-)R(W) apart from a factory created DVD-ROM. The most important function of a modchip is to tell the drive to lie.by daniel_c_w - Homebrew General

Quotepinball Wizard Where is the FREE 3rd party development kit that was promised? Where is my freedom to use my purchased hardware the way I want? When and where did Nintendo promise a "FREE 3rd party development kit"? Your freedom to use your purchased hardware the way you want is not hurt by Nintendo.by daniel_c_w - Homebrew General
QuoteprofetylenMaybe noobish questin but... What is the NAND? NAND: in genral: a design for flash memory chips in context of the Wii: the internal memory chip (512MB) I should have written "internal memory" in my previous post.by daniel_c_w - The Junkyard
There will not be a generic solution for that. Striping the contents of a wad apart is easy, but most apps that reside in wads depend on other data stored in the wad. For example: games will expect their data to be on the NAND.by daniel_c_w - The Junkyard

AFAIK Nintendo only uses the 7 languages listed above: They've been using English and Japanese for ages, French and German since the SNES and Dutch since the Wii days. (Do not know when they started doing Spanish and Italian). I am 95% positive, that Nintendo Of Europe's localisation team does not do Portuguese, Hungarian, Swedish or Finnish. QuotewhodaresThen it depends on somebody working out how WC24 and the CHANS script works Is there any known starting point to work out CHANS? Did somebody release a bit of information? How do we even know the name?by daniel_c_w - Homebrew General
Without knowing what many of the abbreviations on the feature list mean I have one question left: Will whodares' software support banners with dynamic content? WC24?by daniel_c_w - Homebrew General
SDHC is application specific Right now all applications on the wii are very monolithic. There is no shared library that all aplications use to access SD Cards. Every application has to be rebuild with new codeby daniel_c_w - Homebrew Applications
QuotewhodaresQuotedaniel_c_wWill you release the source? Not sure yet. If I do, you'll need Visual Basic.NET 2008 (Express Edition will be fine, as that's what I'm using). I thought that software running on the Wii can read the complete NAND volume via IOS calls. But why did bushing chose to download an IOS instead of creating a copy of an already existing IOS? To test my theory I used the FS Explorer. I wanted to copy an IOS to SD card. So far without success Where on the volume are the ioses stored? I assume title/1/25 for example is IOS37. QuoteDanielHuehoWhy exactly you want to use Xyzzy? It's a pretty technical app, you know, and unless you are hacking your Wii, is kinda useless... 2 reasons: couriosity and backup I like to know everything about the Wii I can and in case I brick my Wii I have the keys to read my NANDby daniel_c_w - Homebrew Applications
I tried the following: renamed the folder to xyzzy copied haxx.certs to the xyzzy folder disabled WLAN encryption downloaded xyzzy again checked the sd-card and for some extra mojo i removed gamecube memory cards Am I misunderstanding something? When I run Xyzzy it hangs at "hopes... /" Launched via Homebrew Channel from sd:\apps\xyzzy 1.0 (haxx.certs in additional data subfolder) downloaded from wiibrew wiki link on november 6th Wii: Pal 3.2E System menu patched by Starfall no other software modifications (except some Wads (signing bug)) WLAN is WEP encrypted Homebrew Channel can connect (and updated recently)by daniel_c_w - Homebrew Applications
