We do not support backup loading of any sort here. However, I will say that with legit backups, Devolution is the best solution of GC backups as it requires no modification of system files (e.g. MIOS, IOS etc.) and doesn't allow piracy. Anyway, for restoring your Wii from the messed up state you've got it into, try DOP-Mii to reinstall clean versions of MIOS and any patched IOS yoby SifJar - Getting Started
Yeah the site is down at the moment. Google "wilbrand" and use it instead. It's an alternative implementation of the same exploit by another individual, should work pretty much the same. EDIT: Wait, it's back up, so you could be experiencing a different problem to what I thought. Still, try wilbrand instead.by SifJar - Homebrew General
You're using an old version of the HackMii Installer (v1.0). Latest is v1.2. Get it here:by SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
Yes you can update apps without being paranoid. Regular homebrew apps do not effect the internal storage of the Wii in any way, they are completely located on the SD card and run from there. The IPS patches...I'm not sure what you're applying the patches to. IPS files in themselves are not "dangerous." A bad patch on a critical file would be a brick, but I'm assuming you'reby SifJar - Getting Started
1) It's perfectly fine to turn off normally. The option in HBC is just there for convenience (e.g. if you're using a GC controller and want to power off without getting up etc.) 2) BootMii inserts itself in the boot process of the Wii. In other words, it gets loaded before the System Menu (the main Wii interface). Within BootMii, you can do a few things. The main feature is it'sby SifJar - Getting Started
It's simply a terrible app, it's very poorly coded and does a huge amount of very invasive modifications that are completely unnecessary for at least 99% of it's users, without them understanding what it's doing or why. There have been countless reports of bricked Wiis from that app (mostly probably due to users not knowing what it happening and just accepting random options oby SifJar - Homebrew General
You should be able to do it fine with homebrew installed. Are you sure you have the latest update of the system software installed? Try performing a system update from the Wii Settings menu. Despite the nonsense you may read elsewhere on the internet, this is perfectly safe with homebrew installed, and won't even remove the latest version of the homebrew channel.by SifJar - Homebrew General
It works on PAL versions, there was an "unofficial" (i.e. not by original dev) port to PAL and Japan versions of the game. That statement on the Wiki must never have been updated to reflect this. I have fixed that now.by SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
Yes, it's safe. The absolute worst thing that could possibly happen is the vWii part of the WiiU not functioning correctly. Anything outside of the vWii sandbox cannot be modified in any way. Also, you can easily access the Wii Shop Channel and also have homebrew on a regular Wii.by SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
This section is designed for feedback about this forum and the WiiBrew wiki, not individual apps. Chances are the developers of that app (if they're even still active) won't see this message. You're better trying to find some alternative contact details for them (e.g. perhaps an email address associated with a google code project or something like that) and contacting them directlyby SifJar - Feedback & Support
The file you were given by please.hackmii.com was a zip file. You must have the winzip trial version installed on your computer, and presumably the trial has expired and is telling you that you need to upgrade to the full version to be able to open the zip file. WinZip has no affiliation with wii homebrew, and is also completely unnecessary. My advice is uninstall it and instead install a decent,by SifJar - Getting Started
QuoteUK777That error means priiloader hacks are on. In this case the one thats on is the one that blocks system updates. Thats the problem.A priiloader hack has absolutely no effect on dop-Mii, they only apply to the System Menu.by SifJar - FixMii
QuoteUK777Dont use usbloader crap that kills Wii's (sorry if any of that is wrong). It doesn't kill Wiis unless you're a complete idiot who messes things up. It's just against the rules of these forums, and in many use cases, also against the law of most countries (obviously not all use cases e.g. legit backups in some countries)by SifJar - Homebrew General

QuoteUK777I think sigil should be banned because 1. Talking about things against the rules 2. being extremely rude to a moderator. 3. ignoring warnings.I don't see any warnings being ignored. Considering this is his only post, and he hasn't posted anything since, let alone anything breaking the rules, there is absolutely no cause for a ban, and it's really not up to you anyway.by SifJar - Homebrew General

QuoteUK777Unless you want to risk a brick, ther is nothing you can do about that. If youre willing the brick risk use AnyRegionChanger to change to the region to the compatible region. P.S. What system menu have you got? (look in the wii options to check. It will be in the top right corner.) Also, what's the interest in the US Wii Shop Channel? :/. He quite clearly stated his interest; heby SifJar - Getting Started
Nope, AnyTitle Deleter is definitely not the tool to use here, it only deletes full titles (e.g. channels, IOS etc.) I don't know of any (competent) program that deletes individual files from NAND. FSToolbox can do it, but I believe it doesn't rebuild the file table afterwards, which could be an issue (or perhaps it'd be fine, but I personally wouldn't take the risk; it'sby SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
QuotegraviraQuotetueidjTiny app to disable the letterbox mode: How do I use this on my SD card? Do I just put all the files on the card?Download, extract the zip, inside there is a directory called "aspect_fix"; copy that into the "apps" directory on the root of your SD card, then load up HBC and you'll see the "Aspect Fixer" app. Run it, HBC will reload and the aspect ratio will be fixedby SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
You don't need a disc in the drive, or a functioning drive, you just need a drive attached (but it can be a broken drive). But of course, we can't discuss how to do it here. My only advice is before you follow any sort of "guide", make sure you read everything very carefully and fully understand exactly what you're doing and why you're doing it, and don't install anythingby SifJar - Homebrew General
You could use dop-Mii, or you could use NUSD (PC program) to download a WAD of the System Menu and install it with a WAD installer (any should work).by SifJar - Getting Started
Quotenintendo_nerd85I doubt the mods read these threads anyway. Call me negative, but there has got to be some way to get their attention.Of course the moderators (e.g. me) read the threads. But not all of us have the power to actually do anything about it. I, for one, certainly have nothing to do with development of HBC. However, people like tueidj (who obviously also read the thread, seeing asby SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
Well there's no point in doing silly IOS patches and invasive mods like that in the first place. All you need for homebrew is the homebrew channel. Even pirates don't actually need half the stupid IOS patches every "softmod guide" insists are essential.by SifJar - Homebrew General
Homebrew channel doesn't stop updates. If updates are being prevented, that sounds like Priiloader. Hold reset as the Wii turns on and a menu should appear. Choose the "system menu hacks" option (not sure exact name, never used priiloader and don't intend to) and make sure all the "hacks" are disabled, especially those relating to blocking updates. Then you should be able to update yourby SifJar - Getting Started

Of course letterbomb is not against the rules of this forum. If we didn't allow talking about the exploits used to install homebrew, what on earth would we be left to discuss on a homebrew forum? USB loaders aren't allowed because they're usually used for piracy, which is not the purpose of homebrew. It is perfectly safe to update. FYI, your Wii probably already has IOS62. You cannot patch the System Menu in any way on WiiU AFAIK. Your best bet is probably to try Savegame Manager GX. It does however require a cIOS AFAIK, and we cannot discuss cIOS here as they are against the rules.by SifJar - Wii U - Wii Mode
