No and no -- but I know enough about embedded systems to make those statements without any inside knowledge.by bushing - Software
RestoreMii completely replaces the contents of your NAND (apart from boot1/boot2). If you bought something from the Wii Shop, they store this information on the server, and the server may or may not allow you to redownload titles you have already paid for for free. That is to say -- it does not surprise me that this works, but I would not rely on it always working.by bushing - BootMii Beta
They'd have to run IOS on a special piece of hardware using a JTAG probe and/or some other extra hardware to collect the output.by bushing - Software
Quotemusic_guru I'm new to this forum so let me start by congratulating the bootmii team for their success. Anyway, does anyone know if bootmii will restore from other NAND software such as YAWND (or other software like it)? I haven't modified my Wii yet and am hoping someone else knows. Almost. BootMii adds a 1024-byte footer to the end of the NAND dump that contains your consolby bushing - BootMii Beta
You need at least 553649152 bytes free on the SD card. (4096 blocks * 64 pages/block * (2048 + 64) bytes per page + 1024 byte footer with keys) Realistically, this means you need at least a 1GB card.by bushing - BootMii Beta
The new FAT code is taking longer than expected just to create the damn file before writing to it. You may have to wait several minutes before the dump starts; I'm working on it.by bushing - BootMii Beta
this was covered in the faq.by bushing - BootMii Beta
More information, please. Did you have BootMii/boot2 installed? Does it still boot? Please upload the nand.bin file somewhere for me to examine.by bushing - BootMii Beta
You're going to have to pick one or two of those programs and tell us *exactly* what the error message is.by bushing - Homebrew General
I patched IOS to output the debug messages to USBGecko. They're always there, but usually invisible. (Yes, WiiConnect24 was active.)by bushing - Software
Um... Please try to reformat your message in a more clear fashion. What is the actual problem?by bushing - Homebrew Applications
Your question is too vague to be answered. I suggest you go figure out why "the Wii thinks I've got the latest version when I don't", and fix that.by bushing - Homebrew General
QuotekwirkyHow does the PPC code calls the read, write, ioctl from IOS? Does a IOS run on the ARM? Start reading here: (Note that the last code, in savezelda, was the first ever reimplementation of the IOS IPC -- it doesn't have some of the bells and whistles that libogc's code does, but it's simpler and easier to start with to understand what is going on. Well, since I've failed at getting anyone else interested in this, I was finally able to get some debug spew with my Wii in Idle mode. Anyone have any ideas for something more interesting to try than Weather and News? $IOSVersion: KD: 08/30/07 04:58:02 64M Release/apricot-win/SDK_FW_30_4_13_branch $ (power off from system menu) Startup tasks are skipped. Quotefirebat20QuotebushingQuotefirebat20I been testing BootMii as boot2 and everything works great. I have a problem I know some of my IOS's are corrupt. Why? When I first got Mario Party 8. I wasn't paying attention and it requires a system menu upgrade. At first I was like whatever let me play the game. And it started to install. Then I remember I shouldn't have upgrade tby bushing - Homebrew General
Um... the entire contents of OTP (including all keys) are tacked on the end of the nand.bin dump that BootMii creates. Xyzzy is officially obsolete. The last 1K of the file contains both the OTP and SEEPROM; you can find the structure definitions here:by bushing - Homebrew General
More or less. 1 and 2 are not viable options, so you're left with 3.by bushing - BootMii Beta
There will probably never be a fix to allow BootMii to be installed as boot2 on newer Wiis.by bushing - BootMii Beta
If you can, try just updating from the system menu. If that doesn't work ... well, all of the remaining options are pretty gross. We're looking into the possibility of adding a "repair system" function into a future version of the installer that would help with this, but I have no ETA on that.by bushing - BootMii Beta
QuoteekeekeQuoteInvalid argument, imo. A lot of people (including me!) would like to use a Wii backup loader for perfectly legal reasons, such as creating legal backups of their expensive bought games, to spare the original disc / case from scratches / dirt / damage. - As well as sparing the Wii's DVD drive to prevent wearout, noise, heat or to keep playing the rightfully owned games wby bushing - Offtopic
Your view of the law is flawed, and most of your attacks boil down to ad-hominem. Other people have commented on your other points, so I'm only going to address a few of them. This is an awkward issue. On one hand, we've historically discouraged WAD injection as an approach to homebrew code execution because it's usually wrapped up in warez and because it's possible to brick your Wii if done incorrectly. The "cryptic codewords" are a side effect of people messing around with low-level system utilities that they don't really understand. On theby bushing - Homebrew General

In some sense, they already have. Modern versions of IOS share many modules between then; I don't know why they don't share ALL modules. Still, I don't believe that support for features like WiiSpeak really comes from IOS.by bushing - Software
I'm please to announce that I am able to convert WII nand flash images from one Wii to run on another, but it a fairly tedious and complicated process involving tools I have written that I would rather not release. More info may be found here: UPDATE: These tools have been released and allow you to convert NAND dumps from one Wii to run on another yourself. See Betwiin. Bushing willby bushing - FixMii
