Well, for me it's eliminating the need for an SD card, since I use one SD card for Wii, DS, and Camera. You know, I've always been interested in getting a hold of some debug versions of programs I enjoy, such as..well.. DOP-IOS or DOP-IOS MOD, or FCEU GX, etc. etc. I mean, I could buy a USBGecko, but that's $50 I don't have. I also wanna learn C soon, so immersing myself in these versions of programs would probably help me get a better grip. Speaking of which, anybody know any gby cactusjack901 - Homebrew General
I've always had the urge to modify Mario Kart... It's just time consuming and requires hardware I don't have. As far as Brawl goes, I don't have a non-SDHC SD cardby cactusjack901 - Homebrew General
The problem is that you have it installed as IOS, restoring these backups is EXTREMELY dangerous, so they usually only allow you to restore backups when Bootmii is installed as boot2. You need a gamecube controller to press A+B+X+Y to restore your backup if you have Bootmii installed as IOS, otherwise, no dice.by cactusjack901 - FixMii

Thanks SifJar, I'm not very good with Preloader. I never used it myself, way back when I needed to follow fail guides, I never installed Preloader...or rather, I did, but hid it from myself ASAP, now I know better and have modded my console minimally, but with BootMii, and I have read up on everything (except Preloader =p )by cactusjack901 - Offtopic

Yeah, I've never been one to believe in "the cloud" I think that just brings a lot of stability issues. If your network is shaky, than everything you do in your cloud is shaky, and it's not easy to have a rock solid networkby cactusjack901 - Offtopic
Alright, that nightwish fan guy just made me lose some of my patience with his idiotic topic, and your last comment just made me lose the last of it. So now, let's sit down, retard, and review the facts. The modification of a console is not illegal, but the unlawful use of copyrighted material is (playing backups, VC injects, etc.). Therefore, there is NOTHING, I repeat NOTING. Once agby cactusjack901 - Ideas, requests
Is my face supposed to bleed when I facepalm? You obviously know absolutely nothing about these "games" all they are, really, are chains upon chains of menus. Which we can already do with something like mPlayer, but even if we couldn't, it'd require a new libdvdnav, not a new DVDx, all DVDx does it make the drive go "OH HEY I REMEMBER HOW TO READ DVD DISCS"by cactusjack901 - Ideas, requests

you're going completely mad, either way, updating boot2 isn't that bad, you just reinstall bootmii, your chances of bricking are minimal, and there's really no reason to worry (contrary to my previous statements)by cactusjack901 - Offtopic
QuoteSifJarI'm not sure there is enough demand for a Wii Linux forum tbh. I mean, there are very rarely posts on the forum asking about it or anything. Although it might be nice to have a guide somewhere to getting it all setup right, for different distros and stuff. But I'm not really sure there is enough chatter about it on the forums to justify a whole forum to it. But hey, thats jusby cactusjack901 - Feedback & Support
I honestly think this is one of the most well run forums I've ever been on. However, I think our major problem comes from our size. We may be the premier forum as far as where stuff gets done, seeing as how we're endorsed by Twiizers and whatnot, but we lose out on many people who actually can help, and contribute, because we don't support backupz and wadz!!!1!1!!!!!! Perhaps you should look at it from my perspective How many games do you want that are on it (in my case, 2, MGS4, and because I'd be getting it for MGS4, GTA4, because I'm not gonna buy a 360 for that, 2 games for 1 console... not worth it) Would you use it as a media center (in my case possibly, but probably not, I have an Xbox with XBMC and I use it to stream all my music and moby cactusjack901 - Offtopic

You could, however, go to the Homebrew Channel and run GeckoOS from there. Probably a little easier, since you can use a Wiimote, rather than a GC remote or the buttons on the Wii. Make it another step easier, just set the autoboot to the homebrew channel. not so much hardware, because, as Arikado already said, they found that it was already a mic, which leads me to believe that it's already wired to be used as a mic.
