I type "wii sensor bar pinout" and other searches like that, and I find nobody seems to have specs on any sensor bar. They have posts with pics of their own sensor bar, but no specs with numerical values. I need the official Nintendo datasheet on the sensor bar. I want to know if the current limiting resistor for the IR LEDs is in the bar, or the wii. I want to know what the open circuit voltaby Videogamer - Hardware
It's the format that's used as the video file for most common "cutscenes" like the intro video to Super Smash Bros Brawl. Someone once decribed it as being a collection of successive JPEG images played as a movie (similar to MJPEG AVI files but a different container format than AVI). Unfortunately I forgot the name of the file format. If someone knows the file format's name or fileby Videogamer - Offtopic

A couple minutes ago I mistakenly posted this question int the Bootmii beta section. But really it belongs here: Now I have a not-the-latest version of Bootmii. And I have it booting before the System Menu. Now if I buy a new Wii game that installs a new menu, it will try to install it as the first thing, but the install procedure will be meant to overwrite the old sys menu. It's not desiby Videogamer - Homebrew General
Here it says not only to not mention "backup loaders", but also not to even mention "softmods". But wait, aren't ALL homebrew applications (what this site is about) based on softmods? I mean to run a homebrew app (such as a mp3 music player) you need the Homebrew Channel. But doesn't the HBC count as a softmod? This doesn't make any sense.by Videogamer - Offtopic
There are 5 check boxes at the bottom of the program NUSD. "Pack -> WAD" is self explanatory "SaveAs" is self explanatory But what is "Delete Contents"? And what is "Ignore Ticket"? And what is "Local Files"?by Videogamer - Homebrew General
I mean really, while certain hacks that permit piracy do depend on WADs, not ALL WADs are bad. Not by a LONGSHOT! For example, you can install homebrew games as System Menu items (a.k.a. Channels) by converting them to WADs then installing them (using software I won't name cause it breaks rules to discuss WADs for some reason), COMPLETELY eliminating the need for HBC or even an SD card, as tby Videogamer - Homebrew General
I see that the on the main Wiibrew page it is recommended to get the latest hackmii. I belive you actually, mean the lastest bootmii though, as hackmii is just PC software for Wii interfacing. But the real thing that shocked me is you say optionally upgrade the Wii system menu officially. WHY?! Before to absolutely NOT upgrade because such upgrade will break all current homebrew software. Why woby Videogamer - Homebrew General
And actually there IS at least one program for Mini boot that is NOT piracy related. It is called GeeXboX. Despite the name it has NOTHING to do with pirating Xbox games. It is simply a media player capable of Video DVD, Video CD, Super Video CD, Audio CD, audio file, and video file player. At least that's what I understand from the description on the software's official site.by Videogamer - Homebrew General
Quoteand two others that aren't supported here due to piracy relations. At least give their names so I can google them to read WHAT they do. Not asking you to support them, but names would be nice so I can do MY OWN research OUTSIDE of Wiibrew (a.k.a. Google researching). I can probably figure out what they do once I read about them on their official pages (NOT asking for links to those paby Videogamer - Homebrew General
I installed Bootmii because I heard it can get me out of trouble if I manage to install something that bricks the wii. But I am not sure of its complete functionality. I know it can boot BEFORE the Wii menu, and it lets you do a variety of things. The first Bootmii screen lets you: 1* boot to the Wii menu 2* boot to HBC 3* explore the SD card and boot something from it 4* go to the neby Videogamer - Homebrew General
QuoteArikadoDVDX is merely a title that allows homebrew software to use the Wii's DVD drive to launch DVD discs not signed by Nintendo (ie: Movies). It does nothing for "backups". Before going on, I'd like to take a moment to stress that "backups" of all kinds, legal or not, are not to be discussed on this forum. This is stressed everywhere on the forum. There's no way you coulby Videogamer - Homebrew Applications
I just connected up my wii and upon starting HBC it said an update is available (my wii was online so it could tell). I updated it and it also asked if I wanted to install DVD, and I allowed it, thinking it would let me to backup LEGALLY my OWN game disks to a computer via FTPii server I'd just installed, as disk images, as well as play copies of these backups I'd burned to disk (thoughby Videogamer - Homebrew Applications

I've downloaded this software, but instead of just having a ".dol" file (executable), it also has some ".dat" files, and I'm not sure which of these files I need to include and also there are some patch files that come with it, but I'm not sure of any files which I will need, nor am I sure what directories to put the files in if I need them. I thought that copyprotection on disks was done through "garbage data" on the subtracks. Usually subtracks contain the track number for an audio CD, but on game disks they contain pseudo random data generated that with an algorithm that the console will recognise. To replicate the disk you will ONLY need to discover the algorithm, and have a burner that is capable of burning arbitrary data onto tby Videogamer - Homebrew General
I don't know about open source. But I DO know that it was home made (not made by any game company). Home made games are usually opensource (unlike professional made ones, which tend to be closed source).by Videogamer - Homebrew General
Do you know of ANY computer DVD/CD burner drive (and associated software) that can burn a PERFECTLY identical disk to the professionally pressed ones? I mean a computer DVD/CD burner that can even burn an EXACT copy of everything on the disk ESPECIALLY Nintendo's copy protection code, so that it would trick the machine into actually running the disk WITHOUT a mod chip. I'd like this becby Videogamer - Homebrew General

You say that the only way to unbrick a "semi-bricked" console is to use a mod chip to load a disk with unbricking software. But aren't there OTHER ways to do that? Like burn your "unbricking" disk, but with the right copyprotection code so that your Wii "thinks" that it is an official Nintendo disk? I HATE to use chips, because unlike softmods (which can kill only your OS), a modchip can kilby Videogamer - Homebrew General

It sounds like it can happen by loading a system menu from the wrong region. But whatever region disk I have it will install the system menu for that region. I already have Gecko OS so I should be able to boot a Japanese version game in my American version Wii. But if I do, it will probably try to install the wrong version of the system menu, thus giving me a bricked or semi-bricked console. So hby Videogamer - Homebrew General
I would like to make a "hello world" type program for my Wii, using C (nobody seems to be using BASIC). But I will need a good C compiler (and some simple tutorial on how to program in C). Well I guess if I have to get DVDx then I will. But where do I download it from? Anybody have links?by Videogamer - Homebrew Applications
I downloaded and installed Cygwin just now. But when I ran it I was expecting to get a GUI, but instead I got a text like screen. WTF! I thought Linux (which Cygwin approximates) was supposed to be a graphical (not text) based interface. And I have NO clue how to change directorys in Cygwin. And I have NO clue how to how to use it to compile C source code.by Videogamer - Offtopic
And how do I compile C programing. I found an interesting homebrew program but ONLY the C sourcecode is available. I went to the directory in dos (actually the dos command window because I have Windows XP) and I typed "make" (like you're supposed to, because I thought "make" was a dos command) but it says "bad command or file name". So I now know I actually need a C compiler installed on myby Videogamer - Offtopic
The regular version doesn't work right on my computer. And the SVN (or whatever) is UNOFFICIAL and UNSUPPORTED and it DOESN'T even work on my computer when I installed it (I found the binaries not the source, so it didn't even need compiling).by Videogamer - Testing Corner
Is there ANY way to remove a "semi-brick" from your Wii WITHOUT a modchip? This one guy said that he had a program that if it didn't work correctly the worst it could do was "cause a semi-brick". He said it in a way that sounded like he thought that was no big problem. Well I was thinking if it requires a modchip to fix, then it is a VERY BIG problem, because I'm ONLY going to use soby Videogamer - Homebrew General
