With the outcome of 4.3, it looks like this might be the end for Homebrew. Of course, before 4.3, I was getting kinda guilty about using the homebrew emulators for my classic gaming. I promised myself I would leave Homebrew if they released Earthbound. If you just want the shop, all you need is WiiSCU. If you're on 4.2, you don't need the Trucha Bug. Just run it, choose to update Wii Shop (v19 if you're using WiiSCU v0.24).by Mestizo - Homebrew General
First, can a mod confirm the file's legit (no viruses/brick-causers)? And, if it is, and the method works, sticky this?by Mestizo - Homebrew General
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor was released alongside E3 and the 4.3 update. Most likely, all current disks on the market were printed long before E3 started, so it should have 4.2. Next game that should have 4.3 would most likely be Metroid: Other M.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
QuotewildgoosespeederQuoteMestizoThey're planning ahead with it this time. Not only are they trying to crack the security system Nintendo created, but they're also trying to find a way for Nintendo to have a harder time to disable the ability to run homebrew. This may take several days, weeks, or months. In the mean time, if you wanna stay with your homebrew, just stick with 4.2. There&by Mestizo - Homebrew General
QuotewildgoosespeederQuotetoromeiQuotewildgoosespeederWhat's taking Team Twiizers so long updating The Homebrew Channel? They probably have jobs and lives. Don't be so impatient. ;) Well the last time I was out with The Homebrew Channel when I went from 4.1 to 4.2, they had it updated within two days so I was expecting an update just as soon as that for the 4.2 to 4.3. :P Theyby Mestizo - Homebrew General
You call these abilities unfit? Mario may not look the type, but, the way he is now, he can cream Mr. Fantastic and the Prince of Persia in an obstacle course. As I said, Priiloader can install a patch to block updates (retail and internet). If you need to do an update for some reason, just run Priiloader and disable the patch.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
First off, WiiConnect24 does not and will not do automatic updates. Also, if you have WiiConnect24 on, turn off the standby mode (orange power light), as that's both a waste of electricity, and the wi-fi will fry the GPU, leaving to either artifacts (dead pixels) or distorted graphics. Also, best thing to prevent updates is common sense. Nintendo cannot force you to update. If you get anby Mestizo - Homebrew General
QuoteSifJarThere is a sort of workaround available now. You can use TBR on 4.3 now. You need to install the oldest revision of IOS41, and use it to downgrade IOS15, then do the rest as normal. That'll allow you to install a LoadMii or Wii Homebrew Launcher custom channel on a "virgin" 4.3 Wii. Or you could downgrade IOS60 and patch SM and HackMii Installer might work. If there's only one program, then Smash Stack should do the trick. Thing is, if you plan on keeping your SD card in your Wii, you'll have to sacrifice custom stages, or temporarily leave the exploit on your computer. However, you have to trade them out when you want them.by Mestizo - Getting Started
After playing the homebrew port of Syobon Action, it seems to be a rip from the PC version. Is it possible to convert the game I Wanna Be The Guy to Wii?by Mestizo - Ideas, requests
Darn. I got a 4GB SDHC memory card because it was on sale (good timing, since my cousin heard that the HBC requires an SD card, and he took mine and lost it. Fortunate for me, because I backed up my SD card on my computer beforehand, since I was looking for one anyway). Oh well, I have enough for another 2GB SD card, and could only use that for Smash Stack and Smash Bros data.by Mestizo - Getting Started
QuoteMWisBestThere is a fix out to mod a virgin 4.3 Wii although I don't know if I can link to it because of the files used. I believe they can't be discussed here but soon you could probably find it on Google. I just looked up "Wii homebrew 4.3" in Google for results of the past 2 weeks. The only things I came across was gaming journalists talking about how 4.3 blocks homebrew, not iby Mestizo - Homebrew General
Ok, it worked. Thanks. Now, is there a way it can load channels from the SD card? I tried earlier to get Super Mario 64 codes to work, with the game's channel in the SD card, and it just loaded the disk before I ran Dop-Mii.by Mestizo - Getting Started
So, I install IOS 36 w/FakeSign? Sorry if this sounds annoying, but since I'm a bit more comfortable at the risk of not getting my Wii replaced because of a brick, I used to avoid stuff that could result in a brick.by Mestizo - Getting Started
How exactly do I do that with Dop-Mii? I don't wanna do something wrong.by Mestizo - Getting Started
You have to load only one homebrew each time, unless you put them in a folder and use Wii Homebrew Loader, then you get something similar to Homebrew Channel. This is what 4.3 has to do for the time being. When Hackmii Installer comes out, use Smash Stack with that. Also, I have a question. Does Smash Stack work with an SDHC, since SDHC doesn't work for Brawl?by Mestizo - Getting Started
I want to load VC/WiiWare channels on GeckoOS. Thing is, it only loads disks. How can I load channels to play with cheats, and can it load channels on the SD card?by Mestizo - Getting Started
Only way to use homebrew right now is Smash Stack of Indiana Pwns. They're currently working on a HackMii Installer to install the Homebrew Channel using the same method.by Mestizo - Getting Started
Well, first off, unless you know what you're doing, NEVER disassemble your Wii. The firmware doesn't matter, but if you want Homebrew Channel, you need 4.2 or lower. If your Wii does not have homebrew already, you can ship both units to Nintendo and have them do it.by Mestizo - Hardware
QuoteusctildeathOk so i updated my wii IDK why. But, There are other hacks like the ,IndianaPWNS, i wanted to know if anybody can make one for another game? plz i really need homebrew!! preferably Super Paper Mario First off, this belongs in Getting Started, not FixMii. I believe you can replace the shell, but the internal battery's that outer part next to the serial number with the screw. That part will be white. Or, for a fee (unless you have homebrew, where this part is null), you can send both units to Nintendo and have them transfer the data.by Mestizo - Hardware
As long as you do not update to 4.3, you should be able to re-install Homebrew Channel via the latest Bannerbomb method (Hackmii Installer v0.6 and Bannerbomb v2).by Mestizo - Homebrew General
Well, if you think you need DVDx to work, run the Hackmii installer again (assuming you're on 4.2or less. Use the current build) and install DVDx.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
I know Nintendo has a new disk drive they implement in all new/repaired Wiis. If your Wii is less than about 5 months old, you probably have one. They completely block all DVDs except for the Netflix disk.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
If you're talking about homebrew on DVDs or DVD movies, IOS 202 and MPlayer CE (both in the link, the ones with the green "featured" next to it) should be enough. If you're talking about game back-ups, then we have nothing to say. DVDx is obsolete.by Mestizo - Homebrew General
QuotedoctorjuiceA question: So do I just say that it turned off after the update was finished and then it was bricked? I probably shouldn't say I unplugged it? Also, will I still get to keep my game data? Think of a lie or something. Say to Nintendo that a pet/young sibling tripped over the power cord during the update, or you had a power surge.
