I think a decent Wii linux forum would be useful. The information for getting it all set up is kinda of scattered around the place so a forum to help out would be good... maby a sticky or 2 with information about progress and one with how to install? In general this forum seems to be run quite well. a mod or two could help but it works well.by Warpedflash - Feedback & Support
geexbox will play them fine.... it just depends what you have teh drive formatted as. if you have it formatted as fat it will also work on mplayer.by Warpedflash - Getting Started
Nearly every legal app is safe, most get very well tested to stop there being any chance of you damageing your wii. apps arnt rely installed they are run stright from your sd card (most are in the folder called "apps" but some like emulators require additional folders as well) Yes you can delete apps with the sd card plugged into your PC or using the homebrew browser. both methords will workby Warpedflash - Getting Started
1) No it wont mess it up. Yes its more or less safe. 2) Yea should be fine 3) You can still play online and yes teh internet channel still works. 4) Yes you need to install individual apps. < this will help you alot as it allows you to install things to your SD card stright from your Wii with an internet connection. 5) Quake, Majjong, Homebrew Browserby Warpedflash - Getting Started
You could run ftpii on the wii as long as you have the correct ports open on your router and do it that way i guess... kinda stange thing to want to do though...by Warpedflash - Getting Started
QuoteDarkWiiOk, but that doesnt work. I tried it. I used the installer. It does work its just not as easy as installing a normal hbc app. If you want an easy way to install wii linux wait a while one is being worked on. Or do it the manual way and partition it up yourself.by Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications
QuoteDarkWiiPlease, I need to know, is linux on the Wii just a black screen with writting on it? I' imagined it to be a OS, like with a mouse etc. Or am I doing something wrong? LOL that black screen with writing IS the core of pretty much any os... but yes there are versions with a GUI look at xwhiite on the tehskeen forumsby Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications
to run the wiilinux distros you just need 2 partitons of decent size... say 512mb fat as partition one (aka create this first) then 1.5gb of ext2/3 afterwards (create this second) you dont need to lable the partition? i never had to. also make sure you use the latest kernel or it will be sloooowby Warpedflash - Homebrew General
Quoteadamisgood36did i miss something? isn't he talking about something that he could only get by illegal means? Edit: If i am wrong i am terrible sorry for making assumptions. yes he is.by Warpedflash - Homebrew General
QuoteemukididJust be patient. As you can see we are always trying and making some progress, but to be honest, we don't even know when we'll get it right and things will start to work the way we want them to, which is why I cannot give you a clear release date at the moment. Once things are as we want them, and stable too, we'll start throwing some release dates in the air. Fair eby Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications
QuoteDrLuckyQuoteemukididJust to clear things up .. r448 made no difference what-so-ever to anything in the emulator .. I'm not sure how you manage to get better results with it, considering the code didn't change at all in the builds that you are concerned with :P It is simply human psychology... something new and updated just seems to work better... Like as if it were running off ofby Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications
the latest version of this is rely nice :D hopefully the sound issues will get sorted at some point :) but its good fun playing through these things... if you want a kool techno beat try diddy kong racing with the music on tis epic (no graphics at all btw black screen but you get sound) how do you save with this emu btw? has it been implemented yet? i cant seem to get anything to save :Sby Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications
i dont mind i was going to do one but just have that placeholder for now as i have a fair bit of uni work to do... yea if you wanna chuck a homepage together it would be helpful. it just needs a thing saying what hbcapps is and who to contact not much rely... if you want to do it go aheadby Warpedflash - Homebrew General
just leave it there it wont effect teh twilight hack at all. my Gfs wii had stuff from teh mii channel on it (i think... some private folder anyways) i just left it there.by Warpedflash - Homebrew General
QuotestrongfanYou should just download all the apps on Wiibrew and the Homebrew Browser and upload them to hbcapps. Also, you should have like your own version of HBB but with this site. its not meant to be for all apps just people who actually need hosting/want a dedicated site, which some people do. i dont have a dedicated server or i would let the HDD use it as well as teh one it currentlyby Warpedflash - Homebrew General
I am offering to host homebrew apps for people that need it. you will get a page on hbcapps.com (if you want one) as well as webspace (up to 100mb depending on how much you actually need) if you want to take up this offer either p/m me, reply here or email me. Im offering this as i dont like rapidshare and similar sites... and a couple of people i know cannot access them (schools etc) hopeby Warpedflash - Homebrew General
in case you lot were interested... The latest wii-linux kernel supports SDHC No one has written a wifi driver yet and probably wont be written for a while... hence muzers decision to try and add support for USB wifi adapters The xorg drive can be found on tehskeen There is around 66mb of ram available You will not get KDE running on the wii.... at least not in any usable state I still sugby Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications
1) Make sure you are using the latest twilight hack 2) have the homebrew channels boot.dol in the root of the sd card 3) make sure your sd card is big enough (128mb+ seem to all work)by Warpedflash - Homebrew General
QuotepimpsahoyQuoteicefireWE DO NOT SUPPORT PIRACY HERE! GO AWAY! I am aware of that; I never asked about how to use the backup loader; I asked what a cIOS is, and what it does. That does not relate to piracy. it kinda does as that is the only reason to use it.by Warpedflash - The Junkyard
ask muzer if you need a hand there is a few of us already doing this but im sure people will happily help. when you get it underway though remember the wiis limitations, you will probably want a lightweight Window Manager (http://xwinman.org/ check here for one) and then all the apps need to be lightweight as well... video driver is here http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9322 as fby Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications

Also a version is being brought out for the wii officially...by Warpedflash - Homebrew Applications

The HBC uses legal code made by team tweezers. and they are planning to release it at some point (after bootmii is released i believe) its a python toolchain (or something similar i cant remember...) but yea... the hbc is legalby Warpedflash - Homebrew General
QuotemoosehunterThis next idea will probably not be implemented for various reasons, but... We can already load nes snes etc. roms off an external USB hard drive, but wouldn't it be cool to backup our wii/gamecube games onto the HDD and play them from there, you wouldn't ever have to swap games again (at least not until you got a new game).
