Of course, there is nothing wrong with installing system menu 4.1, but for many people the system menu version makes no difference. I installed system menu 3.2 on my wii instead of 4.1 because I have no use for SDHC support or for the SD card menu; however, if you need these fetures you may as well install 4.1.by jbc007 - Getting Started
QuoteCriscoReally? I've never used the cIOS to play videos off my thumbdrive. I did not know that it worked at all without the cIOS, but it certainly does not work at USB 2.0 speed without it. You didn't install a different cIOS 202 did you?by jbc007 - Getting Started
The easiest way to install system menu 3.2 is with AnyRegion Changer. All you have to do is run it and select install system menu 3.2u. This will install the correct versions of all necessary IOSs as well.by jbc007 - Getting Started
Most USB drives are supported by MPlayer CE, but not all. In any case, you need to install the USB 2.0 cIOS to play videos from USB drive.by jbc007 - Getting Started
First of all, what region is your wii? I assume that it is not NTSC-U since you have system menu 4.0u. Download NUS Downloader and run it. Go into data base and select system menu 4.1 for your region (you must choose the correct region). Check the pack WAD box at the bottom of the screen and click start NUS download. When the download finishes, you will have a WAD file of system menu 4by jbc007 - FixMii
Do you want to update to 4.2, or just update the shop channel? In either case, update the shop channel with Dop-IOS Mod. If you want to update the whole system, also update all of the IOSs and install system menu 4.2. If you update your system menu to 4.0 or higher, there is no reason to delete the stub IOS 50.by jbc007 - FixMii
So you attempted to update your wii to 4.2, but it instead caused a semi brick and stayed on 4.0? Anyway, this sort of issue is usually caused by installing the wrong region system menu. You can fix it by installing system menu 4.0 or 4.1 for your region with Dop-IOS Mod. You could instead download the system menu WAD with NUS Downloader and install it with WadImport.by jbc007 - FixMii
That video is not very useful and, depending on how you bricked your wii, may actually make the problem worse or even ruin your wii completely. What exactly is wrong with your wii? Also, what caused the brick? That information will be helpful in determining how to fix it.by jbc007 - FixMii
The problem is definitely a stub IOS 50. However, Nintendo should not be able to determine what caused the issue. You may find this to be helpful.by jbc007 - FixMii
I don't understand what, if anything, is wrong with your wii. However, if your wii works fine, you can update just the shop channel with Dop-IOS Mod. Since you have system menu 3.2 and you downgraded from 4.0, you have a stub IOS 50. This means that if you ever update from one of the many games that has system menu 3.4, your wii will brick. To fix this, use AnyTitle Deleter to deleteby jbc007 - FixMii
QuoteDeny417Previously, I did send my Wii to Nintendo to get the disk tray replaced. Oh, you must have a new disc drive that can't play DVDs. Currently, there is no way to get it to play a DVD.by jbc007 - Homebrew General
Are you using MPlayer CE .76? If not, you need to update to version .76. Alternately, you could install the USB 2.0 cIOS, that will allow you to play DVDs in MPlayer CE without DVDx.by jbc007 - Homebrew General
You must have installed a system menu for the wrong region. Run AnyRegion Changer and see what your console area setting is. You need to install a system menu of this region. If you want to change your wii's region, go ahead, but make sure that the system menu you install is the same region as the console area setting. AnyRegion Changer can install system menu 3.2 and all necessary IOSby jbc007 - FixMii

If there is any way that you can configure the chip to autoboot the game, you can fix it. You should be able to configure it in another wii and then move it to yours, as long the settings are not stored in volatile memory. Again, I don't know that much about mod chips and I doubt that you will get much help with your chip from anyone else here. I am sure that you can find somewhere else tby jbc007 - FixMii
Do you mean that you can't access the settings? If so, this is how to fix it: Use NUS Downloader to download a system menu for your region and its IOS. For system menu 4.1, you need IOS 60 version 6174 and for 3.2, you need IOS 30 version 1040. Install the IOS first and then the system menu with WadImport. If you can't copy any saves from the SD card, the only way to do it is with the Homebrew Channel installer disc, which requires you to have a mod chip. However, you can't copy any game saves to the wii unless you have already played the game that they are from. If this is the problem, you could play Twilight Princess, make a save file, delete it, and use the Twilight Hack to run the Hby jbc007 - Homebrew General
Since you have Priiloader, you can repair it without Bootmii, which is much safer in this case. How did your wii get bricked? That will help us determine how to fix it.by jbc007 - FixMii
Install a chip, make an autoboot WAD Manager or AnyTitle Deleter disc and put it in your wii, and put the bad WAD file in the wad folder on the root of your SD card if you use WAD Manager. Then insert a Savemii into your wii or use Savemiifrii (google it if you are not familiar with it) while you turn on the wii and WAD Manager or AnyTitle Deleter will start. Uninstall the WAD. You should not need to format your NAND, but if I am not mistaken, you will have to use Comex's NAND Formatter if you choose to format it. If you did not install a bad channel WAD, than what did you do to get a banner brick? That may help us figure out what is wrong and what needs to be done to fix it.by jbc007 - FixMii
Installing cIOS is actually not that hard and it is safe. First, use Trucha Bug Restorer to patch IOS 36 with the trucha bug. Then run cIOS Patchmii Installer twice (first time to uninstall the stub IOS 249 from the 4.2 update and the second time to install cIOS). Then Savegame Manager will work.by jbc007 - Getting Started
Normally the chip is configured through the disc channel. Since your wii is bricked, you may need to use another wii to configure it. There may be another way to do it, but I'm not sure. This is not a mod chip support forum, so I recommend that you do some googling to find information about your chip. There is a tool that can patch a game disc itself to autoboot when you start the saveby jbc007 - FixMii

If your friend downgraded your wii, updating with the game could brick it. Perform the update online (through the system settings) and your wii will be safe. Before doing this, I recommend that you update the Homebrew Channel to 1.0.6 if you have not already or else it will be deleted. You need the trucha bug in IOS 35 to use AnyRegion Changer. Use Dop-IOS Mod to patch IOS 35 with the trucha bug. To do this, you must run Dop-IOS Mod on a trucha bugged IOS. If your wii is old enough to install Bootmii, you can fix it with an Infectus. You need to find a NAND dump from another wii with Bootmii as boot2 installed and use an Infectus to flash it to your NAND. You should not have to use Savemiifrii (the gamecube controller thing that you mentioned); however, in the unlikely event that this cannot work, you will not be able to fix your wii without a hardware NAND programmer.
