To fix a banner brick, you need to uninstall the WAD that caused the brick; there is no need to format your wii. If you can still access the Homebrew Channel and you still have the bad WAD on your SD card, run the program that you used to install the WAD and have it uninstall the WAD. Can you access the Savemii menu? If you can, use your drivekey to autoboot a US copy of brawl, use Smash Stack to run the Hackmii Installer, install Bootmii and restore your backup. This will fix your wii.by jbc007 - FixMii
An installer that does not need a WAD could be made for it, but that really is unnecessary. There is nothing wrong with using CustomizeMii to make a channel WAD for it. This is especially easy since there are two legal, MPlayer CE base WADs that CustomizeMii can download. What sort of issue are you having with CustomizeMii?by jbc007 - Ideas, requests

QuoteSifJarWhile I agree that Trucha Bug has many legitimate uses, but once you have Trucha Bug, piracy is just a case of running a cIOS installer and getting a loader. True, but installing cIOS and using a "backup" loader is no easier than restoring the trucha bug. I think that we should allow discussion of programs that restore the trucha bug. It seems odd to me that we support so many programs that require it, including things like Startpatch which are only intended for system menu versions that were distributed without any trucha bugged IOSes, but we do not support any way to get the trucha bug. This requires people to go to web sites that support piraby jbc007 - Feedback & Support
Quoteneoeva2015How can I get trucha bug? We are not allowed to talk about it here, but it takes all of five seconds of searching to find out. The best thing for you to do is install Bootmii as boot2 if you can and then install the system menu and its IOS using Dop-IOS Mod or a WAD installer. If you follow Sif Jar's advice and install system menu 4.2, you will not need the trucha bug.by jbc007 - Getting Started
If you ever need to use savemii to install an update from a disc, you will not be able to if you use Starfall or Startpatch for the patch. However, if you use Preloader this will not be an issue.by jbc007 - Offtopic
Your wii is not bricked. Anyway, use the twilight hack to run Dop-IOS_MOD and have it install IOS 60. Then run the Hackmii installer, uninstall the Homebrew Channel, and reinstall the Homebrew Channel. That will fix it.by jbc007 - FixMii
How is this more risky than using Dop-IOS Mod? It should work as long as it is done correctly and there is not a power failure. Although installing Bootmii is still a good idea.by jbc007 - Getting Started
Do you have the trucha bug in IOS 36? You must run Dop-IOS Mod on an IOS with the trucha bug.by jbc007 - Getting Started
You should use the boot.elf file, it will work.by jbc007 - Getting Started
I would have thought that Dop-IOS Mod could downgrade IOSes, but you do need trucha to do this. You can update and install new official IOSes without trucha, but anything downgraded needs to be fakesigned. Anyway, glad you got it fixed.by jbc007 - FixMii

I'm glad that you got it fixed. If you did not have internet on your wii, you could have downloaded the IOS and SM on your computer with NUS Downloader and installed them with WAD Import.by jbc007 - The Junkyard
Dop-IOS Mod downloads things from Nintendo's servers so you do not need to download anything your self. Just install IOS 60 version 6174 and then system menu 4.1 PAL (they are not the same, but the system menu can't function without the IOS) and your wii will be fixed. If possible, I recommend that you install Bootmii as boot2 and make a NAND backup before doing this because Bootmiiby jbc007 - The Junkyard
Updating may or may not affect your hardmod, I'm not sure. In most cases, mod chips are not supported here. Using Dop-IOS Mod should be simple if you read the documentation, although I do not have much experience with it. Performing the update from NSMB is easier, but using Dop IOS Mod does not require you to buy a second copy of the game.by jbc007 - The Junkyard
You can fix your wii however you want, it really does not matter. NSMB has system menu 4.1, but boot2 update and most 4.2 IOSes. You can update to 4.2 if you want; it was just intended as an anti-homebrew update, but it has no real effect on homebrew as long as you have the latest Homebrew Channel and DVDx.by jbc007 - The Junkyard
You can update from the PAL NSMB. The PAL system menu version number is higher than the NTSC one so it will work. Alternately, you could use Dop-IOS MOD to install a PAL system menu and its IOS. For system menu 4.1 you need IOS 60 version 6174. If you really want system menu 4.2 then you need IOS 70 version 6687. Updating will not fix your wii. You need to install an autoboot chip and have it autoboot an ntsc-u brawl disc. Then use Smash Stack to boot a program to restore the trucha bug (discussion of this program is not allowed here, although I have no idea why a link to an old version of it remains on the MPlayer CE page...). You cannot boot a fakesigned disc after the update to 3.3 or higher; that is why none of your auto boot discs work. Installing the update from New Super Mario Bros should fix your wii. The boot2 update will not prevent the installation of Bootmii.by jbc007 - FixMii
That is hard to say. If you modify the banner of the base WAD it is more likely to brick than if you do not. In any case, a banner brick is easy to fix with Preloader or Bootmii installed as boot2. All you need to do to fix it is use Preloader or Bootmii to load the Homebrew Channel, run the WAD installer, and have it uninstall the WAD that caused the brick.by jbc007 - Homebrew General
