I heard it has one or two good games :Dby daniel_c_w - Ideas, requests
It is risky because: -restoring a NAND backup should always be considered risky -BootMii (AFAIK the best software for NAND backups) is still BETA - and outside of the web2.0 hype that means: risk -Any Region Chnager can be missused and lead to abrick -it is just a theory I jsut came up with. Actually your "Would that keep records of the Shop Channel downloads and purchases?" inspired meby daniel_c_w - Getting Started
Slightly Off Topic. I understand why frames are considered bad, but the W3C still has not abandoned them and I think they can save a lot of bandwidth and are great for menus. What do you guys think?by daniel_c_w - Offtopic
Here is the wiibrew entry: I did not find it half a hour ago and now I stumbled upon it while reading about Datel's freeloader. If I found it earlier I could have saved me from writing a wall of text :D At least I learned something in the process :Dby daniel_c_w - Getting Started
QuoteKage52124Sorry to be picky, but isn't it actually not 0, but /0 ? The byte has a value of 0. "\0" is just a way to write that that in C. (I assume you meant "\0" not "/0") Be as picky as you can, please. A complex topic like this requires that. Is anything not clear?by daniel_c_w - Getting Started
It's the scene's name for a bug in the signature check, present in many IOS and boot1 Before data is executed or copied to the Wii, a mathematical function returns a rather unique and very large number, it's hash. That number is then stored in memory and will be compared to another number in the signature that comes along with the data. For reasons that would take a lot of textby daniel_c_w - Getting Started
Or, if you don't want to mess with your Wiis boot process, you can use Gecko OS.by daniel_c_w - Homebrew General
QuotekylethedarknAlso a quick question that will probably show my lack of homebrew knowledge. Would it be possible to download a NAND backup of somebody else's Wii and use it to restore yours from a brick using BootMii? Or even without your Wii being bricked? If the above is possible could you have a backup that has the most current cios and such in it and that way instead of having to upby daniel_c_w - Homebrew Applications
Quotebg4545- nand backups won't work because you would lose the things you got in between the backup and restoring If my theory works, he won't download anything between backup and restoreby daniel_c_w - Getting Started
I alwasy assumed, that Wii Motion Plus is entirely handled in the games code - only code running on the PPC side handles WM+, but... Eurogamer has reviewed twice, because: QuoteFor the record, the mistake - 'catastrophe' is probably a good word, actually - was down to out-of-date firmware on our Wii debug machine, which neither our EA contacts or us apparently knew anything about. QuoteSephiroththat's not true...some time ago I had 2 accounts... "Some time ago" it did not look like Nintendo stores your Wii's region serverside.by daniel_c_w - Software
The problem is: Nintendo stores the shop your Wii is attached too. Your Wii is attached to the Japanese shop. If you want to change that, you have to hit the "delete button" (I don't know it's real name right know :) in the shop channel. That removes everything you have ever downloaded and the rights to download them again! In theory you could: 1 - make a backup (NAND) of your wii,by daniel_c_w - Getting Started
QuoteArikadoQuotekydoso does the wad stuff not work on 4.0? This topic has nothing to do with whether or not installing "wad stuff" works on 4.0 -- And for you information, it must or how else would the HBC (which is a WAD) be installed by the HackMii Installer? I thought it would be using new unreleased exploits, or am I wrong about that. And I believe the HBC is never in WAD form.by daniel_c_w - Getting Started
Does anybody know anything about the 360's disc format? Is there a Wiibrew.org Wiki equivalent for the 360? I want to find out, how the region-lockout is stored on the discs.by daniel_c_w - Offtopic
QuoteZackI doubt it, because if it uses an original form of compression, how can normal programs like Paint read it? JPEG only defines how the imags is decompressed. There can be variuos ways to comprtess an image in a form, that is a JPEG. So please do not expect 2 binary datasets to be identical, if they can be rendered to the same image.by daniel_c_w - Offtopic

What is the compability issue?by daniel_c_w - Homebrew Applications
QuotejwalkHowever, if the "Health and Safety warning screen" is part of the actual system menu and there is no way for bootmii to force the Wii to skip it, then you're probably right; you'd need an application like preloader in order to do this. Exactly. T o do this (unneded) step, bootmii would have to load the system menu, patch it and then run it.by daniel_c_w - BootMii Beta
QuoteI.R.onThere are three pieces of information you can obtain from a savefile. 1. Console id 2. Mac address of wifi interface 3. Public ecc key of that certain wii of that specific wii that the savefile is coming from... You are talinkg about the packed .dat file, right? QuoteSifJarEDIT: I downloaded the sample pic from DSiBrew.org, and decided to play about with it. I opened it in paint and saved it without doing anything, Let me reiterate that: You openend the file in paint, and it looked complete? Then you clicked save as? QuoteLeftToSighMy nand has already been backed up. I'm now backing up all my channels and game saves, then possibly going to format my system memory to erase the playstats before sending it in to Nintendo for them to replace my system GPU thats showing light heat damage while its still under a new warranty and before the problem progresses. I'm going to uninstall bootmii and reinstall wby daniel_c_w - BootMii Beta
QuoteArikadoQuoteSifJar Even if you just copy it to a computer and back to a DSi, apparently the DSi won't show it. That doesn't make sense. Just copying it to and from your computer wouldn't do anything to the data contained in the file. So how would the DSi know? I guess he means: copy it to a different DSi - not the same one.
