Basically, your Wii was manufactured after Nintendo changed boot1 to disable the exploit which allows BootMii to be installed as boot2. boot1 and boot2 are pieces of code which run first when you turn on the Wii, and the BootMii as boot2 installer modifies part of this code to make it load BootMii on boot if certain files are present on the SD card. In other words, you can't install BootMiiby alainvey - Getting Started
Ok, I recommend reading the asndlib.h and mp3player.h files as scanff suggested, for a more complete listing of the available functions. To get an mp3 working, just do this (this is from buffer only, search this subforum for "sound" to find tips of loading from SD/Fat): Makefile: include libs in the right order - my makefile has this, but you might not need all of these (png and jpeg, foby alainvey - Coding
The Wiki pages for emus have all the links you need, but visit emulatemii for their development blog. Updates are scarce, but in the "April 1st video is real" entry, they mention that this is still alive. Also, that blog has links to the google code repositories for Wii64 and WiiSX, though the developers have stopped updating them with new revisions for the last couple of months. I recently spent hours trying to get libogc's mp3 player functions to work. If you have any problems, I'll check back and post if they're similar to the ones I had. Seriously, when sounds finally came out, it was like that bit in Die Hard where they get the vault open.by alainvey - Coding
Are people doing this on purpose? I count at least three posts full of almost perfectly orchestrated fail in the last two days (a lot for this forum).by alainvey - Getting Started
I also think that cioscorp is essentially just a collection of wads, all of which would contain Nintendo code. Moreover, the only purpose of cioscorp and ios downgrader is piracy!by alainvey - The Junkyard
Did you install cioscorp, or ios downgrader first? If so, that's nothing new and is strongly frowned upon in this forum.by alainvey - The Junkyard
I don't think you could have violated the rules more efficiently even if you tried.by alainvey - Getting Started
Hi all, I finally managed to get an app to play an MP3 file (!). However, I then went to edit my code a bit (simply changed the conditions under which the file is played) and now I can't compile anymore. First of all, it advised me that access to the build folder was denied (also in explorer). I tried to fix this by copying the main.c and makefile, along with the directories otherby alainvey - Coding
Thanks for the response. I've fixed it now: libs listed in incorrect order in makefile -_-. Put libpng closer to the front and it works now. I've managed to display a background with a movable cursor on it. I might submit it and call it "Stroke Derrida".by alainvey - Coding
MyMenuify needs 3.2 or 4.0, from what I can tell. At least, none of the themes in the mym repository at wadder.net are for any other versions.by alainvey - Offtopic
Your advice is wise. I'm probably going to do this soon.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
Yo guys, I warn you: I began C++ coding on Thursday evening and did not do any on Friday, thus this is my second evening. I've been learning from teknecal's tuts on codemii, and am trying to splice some of that with the recent tic-tac-toe coding-assistance release. All I want to do at this stage is display a background png and have a cursor png follow the IR. I believe my codeby alainvey - Coding
Regarding SMW: isn't Mario's likeness an intellectual property? Even if you draw something yourself, it doesn't mean that you're not infringing. For example, consider the fan-made Chrono Trigger 3D remake which got shut down a little while ago - that used original code and artwork, but the IP was still being infringed. Hi all, Running into some apparently common problems with WiiSCU. I'm on 3.4E, Wii purchased late 2007. I can't seem to download trucha-signed versions of IOS 51, 60 and 61. If I attempt this, it gets to around content 8/15 and then outputs an http-related error message. Downloading unpatched versions gives an invalid ticket error message. Does anyone know a way around thisby alainvey - Homebrew Applications
It's not even in alpha, actually.by alainvey - Getting Started
They just mean it's always a good idea to avoid updating through Nintendo as soon as they release a new update. It's best to wait until the implications of each update are known, and often to then use certain apps, like WiiSCU, to update. For example, WiiSCU allows one to download new things like the shop channel update and any new game IOSes without breaking <4.0 homebrew compatibby alainvey - Homebrew General

Wii message board records your usage of the homebrew channel, so there would still be evidence even after all data relating to the actual channel is removed.by alainvey - Getting Started
Snapshot = Savestate. Sram = Snes cart built-in save emulation Double check your save settings, if autosave sram is off, then your game won't actually save unless you manually save sram after making an in-game save. Also, this happened to me recently for no discernible reason at all. At least it's only 3 hours of a great game you have to play through again.by alainvey - Homebrew Applications
You can update via Nintendo - HBC won't get deleted (nor DVDx). Alternatively, you can update certain aspects using WIISCU.by alainvey - Homebrew General
The HBC is a .dol loading application. In other words, if you haven't put any Wii applications on your SD card, nothing will show up! Try downloading the Homebrew Browser (find it on the wiki) and putting that on the SD card (just put the contents of the "apps" folder in the download into the "apps" folder on your SD card). Then the HBB will show up in the HBC (sorry); launch it and youby alainvey - Getting Started
It allows you to have control of the Wii almost as soon as it is switched on, i.e. before the system menu is loaded. It is loaded before even preloader, so is a lower-level hack than that. At the moment, its functions are not that exciting for the casual homebrew user: it can boot directly to the HBC, bypassing the system menu; there is a NAND backup/restore utitlity as well. QuoteDrLuckyif you own the game, then it is NOT illegal for you to download the rom from someone who IS ILLEGALLY distributing it. That's just wrong. The only right people have regarding duplicating or owning duplicated copyrighted content which they have not paid for is the right to make a backup (hence the euphemism used everywhere on tehskeen and gbafail) of software they legally own.by alainvey - Offtopic

It is illegal to distribute copyrighted material without a license. Therefore, while it is, in some places, legal to own a rom dump of a game you own if and only if you make it yourself from your own copy, downloading of any kind is illegal, since the dump is of another person's game. These rules of course vary across the world, but I believe that this is the standard US one which is pasby alainvey - Offtopic
Thanks for the reply, bushing, but I'm on 3.4 with HBC. My serial number is LEH137... Also, I installed HBC 1.0.2 first and did not reboot before trying BootMii, so that might be the issue. Edit: Given bushing's comment that this issue is also present when using Bannerbomb, would that imply that this bug is simply a failed return to loader attempt? This would make sense, since theby alainvey - BootMii Beta
