I don't think Wiis with modchips actually have ever been broken by a software update.by WikiFSX - Getting Started
Nope. We should have a sticky talking about how to use the HackMii Installer if cIOSCORP or some such has been installed, though.by WikiFSX - Getting Started

Also, you need to use bannerbomb v2 and go to the SD card menu.by WikiFSX - Getting Started
Try this if you have BootMii/boot2 installed: 1. Make a BootMii NAND backup. 2. Try the exact same thing, choosing to install the latest version of IOS9 instead. If it won't install the latest IOS9 after you have deleted IOS9, restore your BootMii backup.by WikiFSX - Getting Started
Somebody wrote a parser for it, so we actually might be able to use it:by WikiFSX - Software
You need to download some apps. A good choice would be the Homebrew Browser, which allows you to download a large number of apps directly to your Wii. It is available here: To install it, create a folder called "apps" on your SD card, and then move the "homebrew_browser" folder into the "apps" folder. Next time you launch the Homebrew Channel, the Homebrew Browser should be selectable.by WikiFSX - The Junkyard
I can think of one legitimate use for a backup loader, and that is testing to see if the Wii can properly handle a homebrew disc one has created. However, a major part of this would be making sure that there are no banner problems, and no backup loader that exists right now loads banners. Also, homebrew discs no longer are useful on most Wiis.by WikiFSX - Offtopic
Quotemetroid_maniacQuoteWaxyPumpkin72QuoteMolzoQuoteWaxyPumpkin72You should use this situation as a lesson not to install things that aren't on wiibrew. :P That's exactly what other forums say about themselves :D Except that those "other forums" support piracy. No, they support "backups". And destructive software. Fixed. Generally, if WiiBrew supports something, it tends not to doby WikiFSX - Getting Started
That installer no longer works. The applications don't work because they relied on DVDX having the Title ID (internal content identifier, much like a file name) DVDX, but the current version of DVDX uses the Title ID DISC. Open-source applications can be modified to use the new Title ID.by WikiFSX - Getting Started

If you can do raw sector access, couldn't you then proceed to read a full-fledged loader off of the SD card? It might be that I don't understand what you mean by "sector access".by WikiFSX - Offtopic
This is what I have been waiting for ever since 4.2 came out.by WikiFSX - Offtopic
He was trying to back up his NAND. Ceiling cat reported that he had 4 bad NAND blocks when it started the NAND backup. Sometime during the backup, these lines appeared: short write: 4096 wtf wrote 0 bytes ret=0 Then, it locked up. It looks like it tried to write something somewhere, but failed. That is obvious, but is the limit of my troubleshooting abilities.by WikiFSX - Getting Started
Updating the Nintendo Channel can only be done through the Wii Shop Channel and does not require a menu update.by WikiFSX - Getting Started

QuoteSifJarAnd dont "softmod" your wii. Softmod is term used by fail guides... ...though technically short for "software modification" and thus exactly what the Homebrew Channel is. The HBC is not fail, it just technically is a softmod. The problem is what SifJar pointed out: the term has been co-opted by "fail guides" (a term I hate, something more descriptive would be better) and can't bby WikiFSX - Getting Started
You could, technically, use BootMii/IOS and Betwiin to copy everything from your old Wii to your new one. However, restoring NAND backups with BootMii/IOS is risky. (though, going against what most people say, it probably isn't any more risky than the 4.2 update)by WikiFSX - Homebrew General
It's not bad. I wouldn't pay $70 for it, though.by WikiFSX - Offtopic
