well your link isn't working. but why wouldn't it work on 4.0 Wiis? And what about the other methods? Would they work? Because if so, they could be a nice alternative to updating via Nintendo. This way we could keep trucha bug on most IOSes with out using Waninkoko's epic fail updater. EDIT: That is illegal afaik. Or at least highly frowned upon here and very easy to brick withby SifJar - Ideas, requests
Quotemetroid_maniac....Twilight hack works on 3.4... Congratulations. You worked out what every one else already new. Sorry for being sarcastic, but what was your point?by SifJar - Getting Started
Hi there. I was thinking recently how to get trucha enabled IOSes on 4.0. I had a few ideas, besides the obvious, use WiiSCU on 3.2 to trucha patch all IOSes and then update. My ideas are more for "virgin" 4.0 Wiis, or people on 3.3/3.4 upgrading to 4.0 (which they may as well, they lose nothing and gain some official stuff), or 3.2 upgrading to 4.0 (which is less of a good idea, but if this workby SifJar - Ideas, requests
Yeah, use Twilight Hack first. Never actually used either (my brother installed HBC with Twilight Hack), but I believe bannerbomb can cause some problems for some people. So install HBC with Twilight Hack before updating, but once you've installed HBC you're all set and may as well upgrade, there are no benefits to staying on 4.0.by SifJar - Getting Started
Well, depends on what you mean by rip. Strictly speaking, a DVD image is a .iso. However, you can rip the actual video files from the DVD, usually in .vob format actually I believe. It can then be converted, or with certain software, these two steps are combined, so it is ripped directly to .avi files. However, the video is in .vob format on the DVD. If you were to download a DVD rip from the intby SifJar - Homebrew General
That is puzzling. Although WiiBrew IS a wiki so anyone can add stuff, but I would have thought it would have been removed, or edited to say it only supported lower firmwares legally or something. I believe there is a way to get trucha enabled IOS 36 though. But you'd still have to install it before updating. In fact I can think of a couple of ways. First, you could download a WAD of IOS 36 wby SifJar - Homebrew Applications
i thought HBC wouldnt boot apps without them? Well, thanks for the info.by SifJar - Getting Started
We dont support warez enabling here. Soz. Actually I'm not sorry.by SifJar - The Junkyard
USB Loader is only for loading "backups" (i.e. pirated games). Something such as MPlayer CE can play videos off USB, but I don't think it can play ripped DVD images (.iso files). You'd have to rip the DVDs and convert the videos to a usable formatby SifJar - Homebrew General
are your apps in a folder named "apps" on the root of your sd card? With every app in its own folder within "apps"? And each app has a boot.dol, an icon.png and a meta.xml? Check all those things.by SifJar - Getting Started
And since you're on 3.4, DO update to 4.0. 3.4 has NO benefits over 4.0, while 4.0 has several benefits over 3.4. The only things patched between 3.4 and 4.0 are Twilight Hack, which is outdated by bannerbomb anyway and the exploit that HBC and DVDx installers made use of, but there's a new exploit for installing HBC and DVDx which is used in the HackMii Installer. Therefore there is NOTby SifJar - Getting Started
Yes, you do have trucha enabled IOSes, because you installed them on 3.2, but you cant install trucha enabled IOSes on 4.0 unless you still have a trucha signed IOS 36, which you dont. So basically if you're on 4.0, you can't install preloader. You must have a trucha enabled IOS 36, which isn't easy to get in 4.0. If WiiSCU could update IOS 36 WITH trucha enabled, and you did thatby SifJar - Homebrew Applications
well, this seems to be a fairly common problem with the latest hackmii installer, maybe there's a bug where it installs using IOS 60 whether it's there or not?by SifJar - Getting Started
yeah, red lights are a common hardware failure on xbox 360. that wouldnt be fixed by something like bootmii taking a NAND backup and restoring it, which would only deal with software issues.by SifJar - Getting Started
You can use WiiSCU without trucha bug. You just can't patch the trucha bug into the IOSes you download. It will work fine if you just install IOSes and update channels. To play games without updates, try Gecko OS. It can block updates without fakesigned IOS and can also install the necessary parts of updates without installing new System Menu. This will allow you to play new games without upby SifJar - Homebrew General
No problem. Glad it worked. No idea why Team Twiizers made HBC use IOS 60 when only 4.0 has IOS 60, but at least it's an easy fix.by SifJar - Getting Started
You need to install IOS 60. For some reason the latest HBC uses this IOS only found in System Menu 4.0. You can either update to 4.0, or just run WiiSCU with twilight hack and choose to install IOS 60.by SifJar - Getting Started
You're on 3.3 right? Either update to 4.0 or run WiiSCU using Bannerbomb/Twilight Hack and install IOS 60. You dont have it and need it for latest HBC. Dunno why Team Twiizers decided to make HBC run on an IOS only present in the latest firmware, despite the fact that the best firmware right now is 3.2. But installing IOS 60 should fix the problemby SifJar - Getting Started
Yeah, I think you were missing an IOS from 4.0 which the latest HBC runs on. I think.by SifJar - Getting Started
to be specific, place homebrew in an "apps" folder on your SD card (at the root), and put each homebrew in it's own folder within "apps". Inside each homebrew's folder there should be a boot.dol, an icon.png and a meta.xml (think those file names are right). Then when you load HBC, each app will show up.by SifJar - Getting Started
Most likely, you wont need it. The only real reasons you would are if you a) use dangerous applications carelessy (eg. anytitledeleter) and note i said CARELESSLY. if you're careful you shouldnt brick or b) you install WADs and the banners are mucked up, but I believe WADs are frowned upon here, and anyway, custom channels can be created with apps like WADder which wont allow incorrectly sizby SifJar - Getting Started
Well, formatting it would do that, but not uninstall IOSes and cIOSes. Try running AnyTitleDeleter with bannerbomb. BE VERY CAREFUL!! Delete the wrong thing here and you've screwed up your wii. You should probably install BootMii as boot2 (if possible) and take a NAND backup first. Otherwise install preloader and BootMii as IOS and take NAND backup with BootMii. Then run AnyTitleDeleter. I'm not sure if there is a legal way, but there are ways. Won't discuss them though as any I can think of I believe are illegal. What do you need it for anyway?by SifJar - Homebrew General
if it isnt the write protection switch on the SD card, try the software "unlocker" to delete undeletable files. really good piece of software.by SifJar - Getting Started
it doesnt matter what the HBC version or system menu version is, the setup is the same for all versions.by SifJar - Getting Started
is it possble to do this without softmii, just using preloader? softmii = fail... but anyway, i dont really understand. so you have preloader and hbc installed, then try to reinstall preloader on 4.0, which corrupts system menu, then you will be able to run anyregionchanger from hbc booted via preloader? are you sure? anyregionchanger needs fakesigned IOSes if I remember correctly which wont exiby SifJar - The Junkyard
no they couldnt. its encrypted to the particular wii. the only way to do it would be install from a wad, which wadimport may have done if you still had the ticket so you wouldnt have had to use waninkoko's app, but you said you didnt want to get a wad, so i guess this wouldnt have been ideal for you. and you'd have had to go on warez sites and probably risk getting viruses or stuff.by SifJar - Getting Started
try upgrading. use twilight hack to run anyregionchanger and dont change any region settings just hit go. this will update you to 3.2, the best firmware to be on currently. dont upgrade through nintendo, that'll take you to 4.0, which isnt as good. But upgrading to 3.2 should fix your problem i believe. EDIT: No, that wont actually fix it. You need to install IOS 60 for the latest HBC toby SifJar - Getting Started
depends what you search for do a test. search let's say "preloader" or "Gecko OS" or other homebrew. Does it come up? If so, what you searched for before just doesn't exist on WiiBrew. I've never had any problem searching for stuff and finding what i want.by SifJar - Offtopic
This is the result of the modifications you have made. The updater you used doesn't fully update, it patches parts of the update and installs them, and leaves other bits out completely afaik, meaning vulnerabilities from old system menu still exist. And yes, most of the stuff you mentioned is "no no" and a mod will probably at least censor this soon. Most of the stuff you listed is warez enaby SifJar - Homebrew General
