Doesn't Nintendo replace bad discs? There might be a small fee, but you get an original disc, then you can use GeckoOS to boot it. @daniel: Don't you need a modchip with that solution? I've been meaning to burn the HBC install ISO and try it out, just not got round to it yetby whodares - The Junkyard
I remember reading you get some sort of code that you can enter into the shop channel to get WiiSpeak. I might have read that wrong tho.by whodares - The Junkyard
Quotehiro928No i don't think i did, but what better place to ask then in "Homebrew Applications" section? How about the forum I posted a link to? @cl87: Ocarina was built into GeckoOS, and as such has become redundant. Suppose there's nothing to stop you using it still thoughby whodares - Homebrew Applications
ES_Identify takes 3 parameters (well, 7, but the rest are fodder) : Certs, TMD, and TIK The Certs are already on the NAND, and I can find the TMD and TIK for a selected IOS. I would have thought the IOS user would have NAND access. Anyway, I'll try and grab me a cheap Wii after Christmas and give it a whirl.by whodares - Software
QuoteicefireThe currently available "banner-making software" is just replacing the TPL files and repacking....so can you make a homebrew channel (just one) then "inject" the new banner (I mean like making a completely homebrew channel but with the same specifications as the ones used in the current banner-making software)? There's more to banner files than just the TPL textures. Granted noby whodares - Homebrew General
Has anybody seen any of these? I'm kinda interested in checking them out, that last one says it's a Unix machine. (On closer inspection, the last two look identical. Screens on the last even say MiWi!? lol)by whodares - Offtopic
I guess that depends on the license Team Twiizers provide :-)by whodares - Homebrew General
That's not strictly true... It is possible to make legal channels, as that is my current project. But there are no tools out there already to do it. In order to make a legal channel you need the following - 1. A banner creator (you can't rip an existing one) 2. A NAND loader (not the Nintendo one) 3. Wii homebrew application/game Source code for my banner creator has been relby whodares - Homebrew General
Okay, my plan: 1. Change active user to Super User (if there is one, try System Menu or Shop Channel if not) 2. Open /sys/uid.sys, and write a new entry in it 3. Go to the /title/00010001 folder and attempt to create a new folder, and subfolder Content 4. Copy down the content files, and the tmd 5. Go to the /ticket directory and generate a ticket Are file/dir permissions similar to Winby whodares - Software
Use the Wiibrew Wiki, as I think this describes the way to identify which Zelda you have and need, but I believe you will need the Europe one.by whodares - Homebrew General
Pity you couldn't learn the rules to this forum. No backups are discussed hereby whodares - The Junkyard
@icefire: Really? That's good to know. I've not got that far with my testing yet @DrLucky: Correct. There's a thread here where I was enquiring about how content installations are validated.by whodares - Homebrew General
Really? I've never seen it loading the HBC. Although I have seen it once on my Wii, ages ago. I thought I'd bricked it, but after rebooting the machine everything was fine. But yes, that's why when people "customise" banners by replacing images with the wrong sizes they get banner bricks. I am a little disappointed that Nintendo didn't have any proper fallback on the banby whodares - Homebrew General
Hmmm... Me thinks I really need to sort out a second Wii to experiment with. Thxby whodares - Software
Nope, updates should only happen automatically if you agreed to the v3.4 updateby whodares - Homebrew General
My Wii is constantly connected to my network (which is online), and I'm not aware of any updates to it (I'm still on v3.2). I've also playing Mario Kart Wii online and visited the Shop channel. You should be fine, but obviously I can't state for definate.by whodares - Homebrew General
Well done for creating a duplicate thread with a meaningless title. All I can think to say now is "Tough S&*%"by whodares - Homebrew General
Custom IOS has nothing to do with the Homebrew Channel. So I'm not quite sure what you're trying to achieve. Are you trying to install the Homebrew Channel or cIOS?by whodares - Homebrew General
You mis-understand me. This feature has always been in the original Nintendo Wii System Menu. It isn't anything newby whodares - The Junkyard
If you pay for and download the channels, then you can use the system menu to copy them to the SD card. No WADs are involved in this process. You can also copy them back via the system menu without any problems or the need for homebrewby whodares - The Junkyard
@daniel, yeah, sorry. I'm going to take a break for the forum for a few weeks.by whodares - The Junkyard
Well, we seem to be getting an influx of people like you at the minute. All asking the same questions over and over again. Despite plenty of information out there describing EXACTLY what's happening and why it's happening. Quite frankly, I'm getting fed up with seeing this over and over again.by whodares - The Junkyard
READ THE RULES! I've reported you to the moderators. Hopefully you'll get banned!by whodares - The Junkyard
You can't use illegal WADs on v3.4 and we have no intention of helping anybody to achieve such things.by whodares - The Junkyard
Depends how much homebrew you want on the card. I have a 2GB, but I need to for the SCUMM games :-)by whodares - Homebrew General
Homebrew does not affect online gaming itself. Nintendo states that should they learn you have unauthorised devices/software, they have the right to ban you from services, such as online play. However, I have not heard of anybody being banned as of yetby whodares - Homebrew General
Yes it is right, and no it's (currently) not possibleby whodares - Homebrew General
It's called a banner brick. There's some information on the SaveMii site regarding theseby whodares - FixMii
The only legal WADs you can obtain are off the update partition on Wii Discs. These contain IOS etc. and thus would not "load" like this anyway. Also, they would be signed by nintendo, so would be valid and still work. Your illegal WADs won't work, and don't expect any help hereby whodares - The Junkyard
WTF? Did you get confused with my advice from your original post? Go here -by whodares - Homebrew Applications
