If you can get USB hard drive support, then anything external should work. At least I have this: that will make a CD drive appear like a hard drive anyways.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
Can WiiSX read from a USB drive? If so then you could just hook up a CD drive through the USB port. Don't know if WiiSX would even accept a straight disc or not as it might be only imaged discs. I can't find anything that does say USB support exists but hey, anything is worth a shot.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
Could you elaborate on the hack at all? We can't help you if you aren't more specific on how the hack works.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic
I like it. I am interested in maybe you doing a few more songs for this era (especially Sonic 2 Zone 1 (forgot the name)), and releasing an unofficial album. Someone needs to do that song in Stepmania now.by pinball Wizard - Offtopic

Is it a Nintendo controller that you take to parties or is it a third party controller that you glued a Big N on.by pinball Wizard - Getting Started
QuoteWaxyPumpkin72Do you even know what bootmii is? Its not meant to run homebrew apps... @WaxyPumpkin72: It can run ARM-based applications, so it can run apps, just not the ones we are used to. @SuperDragonite: There are no current apps that will run through Bootmii. Bootmii will launch apps that are written for ARM, but all current apps are for the PPC side of the wii.by pinball Wizard - Getting Started
True about the OEM thing. I just haven't seen first party used very often or at least in the industry that I am used to (it is known for third party replacements).by pinball Wizard - Getting Started
That is strange. Now that sounds like it IS a failing hardware piece, most likely your power brick is dying.by pinball Wizard - FixMii
So you want to install DVDx? Use the normal Hackmii installer. Install DVDx. Then using this: you should be able to watch DVDs with. Then if I were you I would uninstall CIOS wad and then update to 4.0 by Nintendo. Wifi then might hopefully work.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General

@JohnieFish: He is referring to the downgrading and installing WADs. Downgrading is most commonly done to allow piracy to work and BUL3g.wad is used for running backup games. Two things that are not supported here on this forum, as they are border illegal/can be used illegally. @WaxyPumpkin72: You need to specifically point out problems with posts not just "Basically everything" and "unnecessaby pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
@WaxyPumpkin72: That is not a hardware issue, well what caused it. It will probably be a hardware fix though. All of that is controlled through boot1 I believe. The wii must talk to Starlet and use the IOS for power modes and all. As an example, if you just push the power button to turn it off it puts it in a half-powerish mode where it shuts off most processes and IIRC it underclocks the processby pinball Wizard - FixMii
Or maybe not even at all? Did you choose IOS or boot2 version?by pinball Wizard - Getting Started
QuoteArikadoIt boots the Wii into recovery mode. You can do it by using a third party GC controller or taking the casing off of a first party one. A first party one? I don't think that is the correct term, I think you mean OEM, or not piece of junk, or maybe by naming the manufacture, something... I read it 4 times before understanding what you meant.by pinball Wizard - Getting Started
QuotewiiguyNo, I think he thought the wii was PPC only (like the Dolphin/GameCube), I don't think he knew that the starlet (where IOS runs) ran in ARM. I was thinking that the Starlet was PPC and Hollywood was ARM, not the other way around.by pinball Wizard - Software
Quoteninjafish1990Again, my friend sent his in with homebrew channel still installed and it came back still on there. I have heard of people with chipped wiis coming back and they took the chip out and sent it back with the wii... Whats's the worst thing they can do? update you to 4.0 and take it off? big deal put it back on... With my experience they do not change the state of the systemby pinball Wizard - Offtopic
This update seems trivial to me. Usually if there is an issue in a game and they have to update the system to compensate most companies would update the other regions to as a safeguard for "the gameplay experience". i agree that there still is time between now and release in other regions but game discs for other regions are already in production I am sure or the Big N would be in big trouble forby pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
Do you get the "This is not a valid application" notice? If so do you have HBB installed? Most likely your homebrew is really out of date and uses the .elf format. You can update using HBB or batch convert your homebrew to .dol using this :. Note that you cannot just change the ending of your homebrew to make it work. Quotemetroid_maniacQuotepinball WizardQuoteArikadoYou need a hex editor with dissassembling capabilities. Also, you may want to google around the internet for a bit and figure out how to understand asm. QuoteWaxyPumpkin72I see. Kind of useless since i have bootmii as boot2 (with 3 NAND backups!! :O) Thanks for the info. Will it autoboot a game if i insert one while its in this menu? It doesn't autostart discs with that option it only installs the updates off of the disc. LOL 3 backups!?!?!?! If you are so bricked that something is corrupt in those 3 backups then man your wii is screwed.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
There is a recovery menu built into the wii. If your wii is semi-bricked and you find a disc that comes with a newer firmware version, then you can boot into the recovery menu (through various methods) put in the disc and after it installs the updates you have a no longer semi-bricked wii. I know that Team Tweezers made this: to get into recovery menu to update your wii and unbrick it.by pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
Well, now that it is being told to load IOS 37 it still crashes, but I don't think it is the channel. The channel is using a loader that forwards to the SD card to load HBB (offers easy updates without touching the NAND after channel is installed once). When the SD card is in the wii it crashes, when it is not in the wii it loads the test forwarder and gives me the error that FAT cannot be iby pinball Wizard - Homebrew General
