Since this Q&A page from Nintendo says it requires a 512MB SD card or greater to do the migration, I don't think it's just moving a few Miis and text files. I don't remember where I saw it, but someone online was speculating that this might mean a complete copy of the Wii's NAND gets moved to the WiiU. I can only imagine that this would be a nightmare for someone like me wby kobalobasileus - Homebrew General
I just updated the Shop via Dop-Mii. It doesn't require the new ios 62, which isn't available via Dop-Mii anyway. It's extremely easy if you don't want to run the official Nintendo updater. On the other hand, until someone comes up with a stand-alone installer for ios 62, you'll have to use NUS Downloader to grab it.by kobalobasileus - Homebrew General
This article seems to imply that there is no actual data that moves between the consoles on the local network. It also seems like it will be a PITA to move large amounts of stuff. I own more WiiWare than will fit on my Wii at any given time, so I assume I'll have to do this process more than once, while shuffling data between my Wii's SD card and internal NAND each time.by kobalobasileus - Homebrew General
I suppose it's a bit early to ask about this, since nobody should have a WiiU in their hands yet. But I'm curious: Will having homebrew installed (and not fully updated ioses or patched ioses) cause the Wii-to-WiiU transfer of digital downloads from the Wii Shop Channel to pitch a fit? I would guess that it would force a system update at the very least. On the other end of the spectrby kobalobasileus - Homebrew General
That's not the answer I was looking for, SifJar. I'm not a homebrew noob; I've been at this for a while. I have my Wii configured for System Menu 4.2, I use StartPatch to block disc updates, and do all of the updates I actually NEED through DOP-Mii. I will never run an official Nintendo update again. I just wanted to know if Skyward Sword, like NSMBW, requires a specific IOS verby kobalobasileus - Homebrew General
Does Skyward Sword require a specific IOS version like New Super Mario Bros. Wii? My copy of the game is still in the mail, but I'd like to know if I need to fire up DOP-Mii in order to play it once it arrives.by kobalobasileus - Homebrew General
Does anyone know if it's possible to use something like DOP-Mii to return GC compatibility to the new production run of sideways-only Wiis that don't have GC compatibility? It would probably be useless due to the lack of controller and memory card ports, but I was just wondering if it was possible.by kobalobasileus - Homebrew General
I just noticed that the 'issues' button is no longer where it used to be on the GoogleCode sites that host most of the popular GX Emulators. How are we supposed to report errors?!by kobalobasileus - Homebrew Applications
I have had nothing but trouble trying to play PAL games on old TVs using the composite cable. Gecko didn't work, so I had to use {removed} (hopefully it's okay to mention that app here).by kobalobasileus - Homebrew Applications
It's my understanding that an error in StartPatch causes the Region Free option to break Gamecube compatibility. Is this still a problem, SifJar?by kobalobasileus - Homebrew Applications
Yeah, I ran the scandisk utility and it said if fixed some errors, but the card still wouldn't work with BootMii. Only removing those three files fixed it.by kobalobasileus - BootMii Beta
I've narrowed the culprit down to 3 possibilities: loc.bak (located in private\wii) loc.dat (located in private\wii) 77463445 (the folder that contained the FF4TAY DLC, located in private\wii\title)by kobalobasileus - BootMii Beta
I've been using an 8GB Kodak SDHC card for quite a while. Suddenly, as of today, BootMii boot2 freezes on startup when using this card (my other cards still work). The drive light flashes twice, but the Wii doesn't boot at all. The only change I made was moving some Wii data off the NAND to the SDHC (it was DLC for FF4TAY) and downloading the updated version of Cave Story from the Shby kobalobasileus - BootMii Beta
Does Priiloader force video compatibility? I don't really want to mess with my boot sector anymore than I have with BootMii. I've been considering Gecko OS as a last resort. It seems like a rather inelegant solution.by kobalobasileus - Homebrew Applications
I've been looking into the best way to region-free a PAL game onto a US Wii. I don't have the disc in-hand yet, because it doesn't come out until the end of the month (so I can't test anything yet), but I have it pre-ordered. I know Startpatch allows region-free gaming, but the Wii in question has System 4.1 (with no desire to upgrade), and I have read that Startpatch 4.1 hby kobalobasileus - Homebrew Applications
I hate to necro this thread, but I have to respond to raptir. That is obvious, and it doesn't work. It's the first thing I tried, but the files must internally reference each other by name.by kobalobasileus - Homebrew Applications
I've been trying to get WiiEngine, the TG-16 emulator by Hermes, to play a CD game. I have a cue+bin image of the game in question, but I can't get his bincuesplit utility to work on it. I'm pretty sure it's because the cue+bin have spaces in the REALLY LONG filename, and being a DOS program, bincuesplit can't handle those spaces. Does anyone know of an alternative proby kobalobasileus - Homebrew Applications
Dop IOS Mod is a stand alone app that you need to download and put on your SD card. It's easy to use, but if you don't know what you're doing, you're better off forgetting about setting up a USB loader.by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
Oh, duh! I didn't think to look at them in data management. I'll give that a try.by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
I prefer to use StartPatch and install the System Menu patch that blocks the update partition on discs. It's less hassle than launching games through Gecko OS.by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
Okay, that's good to know. But does anyone know how much space I'd save on my NAND by deleting them? I never use WiiConnect24 and my internet is slow, so I can't imagine a use for them.by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
I'm considering deleting them with AnyTitleDeleter Mod, but before I do I'd like to know how much space on my NAND I'll get back. Also, when I looked at these titles in ATD Mod, I saw two entries for each... one ended in E and the other ended in A. What's up with that?by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
What you described, TC, sounds exactly like SNEEK, except that SNEEK doesn't use a BootMii NAND dump. That app should work wonders once it's released and has all of the copyright stupidity ironed out.by kobalobasileus - Ideas, requests
I'm very impressed with the latest version of Dop IOS Mod. It works really well and fixes all of the problems I've had with it before. One improvement I'd like to see implemented is for the app to store all of the IOSes/System Menus/etc. on the SD card after downloading them, like the original Dop IOS does. I have recently updated three Wiis from System Menu 3.x to 4.1 usingby kobalobasileus - Ideas, requests
Yesterday I was helping a friend hack his 4.0 Wii further (he had an old HBC and DVDx but no Bootmii or cIOS. I installed the newest Twiizers goodies from Hackmii Installer v0.6. HBC went fine, DVDx went fine, and Bootmii went fine... except that it code dumped. I wasn't really paying attention, as I've done this many times and never had any problems, so I'm not sure when it dumby kobalobasileus - BootMii Beta
I just got one of those Transcend cards too. It works for everything except BootMii. :\by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
Does IOS 21 even have USB support? That could be cause of the freezing problem.by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
I was wondering if anyone here could tell me the name of any game(s) that contain an update to system 3.2U. I'm working with a Wii that has 3.1 and I want to get it to 3.2 so I can install Starfall and block further update partitions.by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
I was referring to his two shop updaters. The first one only updates and patches IOS50/51. The second one only does IOS60/61.by kobalobasileus - Getting Started
I know you can trucha patch SOME IOSes without cIOS using tona's app, but not ALL. Dop-IOS only works with cIOS. Unless there's another tool similar to Dop that doesn't use cIOS that I'm unfamiliar with... And why does it matter that cIOS249 has tons of fail modules and rewritten SD code in it? It doesn't modify other IOSes, which are modular/independent of each otherby kobalobasileus - Getting Started
