Updates on games are fine, they don't install new system menu versions that block homebrew (only NSMB installs 4.2 I think, and that one is also hacked without much problems). Else GeckoOS can be used to load games without installing updates.by Daid - Homebrew General

Just mentioning "all CIOS" could get you killed over here. Also, the "all" makes me think you did something stupid already, as the "stuff we don't talk about" only needs 1 as far as I understood. So I guess you messed up your wii with something like iosCRAP already, overwriting all your IOSes with stupid versions. Anyhow, DVDx only works for older Wiis, your Wii might be to new. Quotegiantpunei just get a black screen. if it matters, i started it via wiiload/usb gecko. the wiimote stays lit up, so it is still synced.Ok, that's partly good news. It disconnected the wiimote before. Guess I need to put some more work on this. Thanks for the test.by Daid - Testing Corner
the gparted liveCD. If this cannot resize it then you simply don't have free the diskspace on your main partition. But, if it's a desktop machine, I just recommend to put in an extra harddisk. Much easier, and not that expensive.by Daid - Offtopic
I don't think they can do much permanent damage. But they might sit in front of a light sensor (explaining the disk tray failure). Not sure if ants conduct a lot of electricity, but they might so you better clean them out before you power the wii up again. Just to be sure.by Daid - Offtopic

I've been working a bit on a gameboy emulator. It's far from perfect, but it starts to run games. However, I only tested it on my PC so far. And the few tests I did on the wii where unsuccessful, it kept crashing before it showed anything. Now a good night sleep made me review my own code, and I found a few stupid mistakes. I'm only doing the gameboy/gameboy color/super gameboy (No GBA for those that might think that, the GBA is a whole different device) Multiplayer on consoles (instead of handhelds) is a whole different league, as you suddenly have 2 emulations running that you need to keep up to date with each other. QuoteSifJarAnd that's pretty much all they've done, people will have homebrew (and piracy :( ) on 4.3 in no time.Silly question, if we move to prevent the piracy, how would Nintendo react? Weren't the exploits only known by TT? Or maybe the hackmii installer could fix the known exploits that pirates use and use the unknowns to install HBC?by Daid - Offtopic
Only thing you can do is hook up your Wii to an VCR or your computer (with a capture device, which aren't that expensive) I have this one: works fine for recording (listed retail price is wrong, I payed less then 70$ for mine) and I also use it for recoding analogue TV. But if you look around a bit you should be able to find a device under 25$ if you just want to record the video/audio signby Daid - Ideas, requests
It's simple, static linking SDL = release source. Which all SDL wii software has done (as far as I know) so there is no issue. Yes, some of the included libraries with devkitPPC have GPL licenses (I think the mp3player also depends on GPL code) so sources should be released if you use those parts. But other that that there is no problem on the devkit side.by Daid - Coding
(Also the Wii internal memory is only 512MB, so that wouldn't help you at all) Bigger SD card would help, some emulators also work with roms from DVD, if your Wii is old enough. And some work with USB drives.by Daid - Getting Started
Took them long enough, guess they patched every exploit that bannerbomb and the hackmii installer use, in the system menu and every IOS.by Daid - Offtopic
Why do you assume the bug is in libwiigui? It might be just as well your own code that creates the bug. (Also, the core of libwiigui doesn't touch anything wii related so the problem is more in the example code)by Daid - Coding
Quoteg_manThat's odd. If MINI is like IOS then it should have access to the same devices. It's not like there is some software in place blocking access, but a USB driver isn't neccesarily an easy thing to write.MINI = Mini Is Not Iosby Daid - Homebrew General
Make is a pretty simple tool and it's not that hard to build multiple targets. However, the "wii_rules" makefile has been setup for just 1 target. For example, I first build an executable which needs to be run to generate an header file which the rest of my sources use. Make takes care of building that executable, running it, and then building the rest: TARGET := gb LDFLAGS := -lSDLby Daid - Coding

Funny, I just started to work on a gameboy(-color) emulator this week. Because I wanted to learn a bit more about emulation and the gameboy is a pretty simple system. I have the following goals in mind: -Emulate multiple gameboys on 1 wii (screen should allow up to 16 gameboys, but that would be silly, as you only have 12 possible controllers) -Link support between gameboys -Running differeby Daid - Homebrew General

Reading and modifing XML isn't that hard with TinyXML: Downloading a file is a bit tougher, but there is an example http.c which does a HTTP1.0 request. ATMega32 doesn't have bluetooth, so connecting the wiimote to the ATMega would be a tough task (you're also very limited in flash/ram for a bluetooth stack, and even then you need to find some kind of bluetooth board/chip to use) Attaching and reading stuff which is normally connected to the extension port is much easier.
